I earned a bit of extra "Play-dough" last week and figured that since it's summer (hot as all Hell here in AZ), I may as well try and cool off with a white dialed diver to go with the Explorer II GMT Polar. I've been looking at these Marathon "Arctic" editions for awhile and got the "Jumbo" (46mm) automatic version. It's a really nice looking watch and I'm presently evaluating several straps to accent it's looks, while making it a bit more comfy to wear.

They look great! How bright is that tritium?

I am surprised more luxury brands have not embraced tritium. Once you have a watch with it the superior luminosity will really spoil you and even Seiko’s extraordinary lume doesn’t seem quite as special anymore.

How big is that Explorer? The Marathon doesn’t look 46mm big next to the Rolex.

The tritium is really nice, though Superluminova looks better immediately after charging. Given a few minutes to fade, the tritium overtakes the luminescent pretty fast. My Explorer II Polar (Model Number 226570) has a 42mm width, but I believe it's dial and bezel's design make it look about the same as the 46mm Marathon.

That's mighty good looking.

White-face watches currently on my list are SRPE37 (obtainable) and SPB313 (serious wish-list item).

Both of those are nice, VT, just not a huge fan of the 4:30 day window.

That’s a very Doxa-esque Seiko slim turtle. The case isn’t that different from the love it or hate it cushion case of Doxa and the bracelet reminds me of the Sub 1500T & 5000T which deviates from the beads of rice bracelet that is so often associated with Doxa.

Definitely some differences but also a few similarities to the Seiko.

If we are doing white dials, I have been loving this recent purchase from Nodus. They have put together a very impressive package for $700.

^^^^^ awwwww yeah!!!! What a sweeeeeeeeeeet watch.

Matt at Helm is one of THE nicest people in the watch world. If you have an issue (and I doubt you will) he will 100% take care of you.

I emailed him with an inquiry on bracelet compatibility and received an incredibly helpful response within less than 24 hours.

There are not many watch companies where the founder will personally answer your questions in a super friendly and helpful manner. How cool is that!!??

The Khuraburi is a watch I bought fully intending to flip thinking it was too thick and a bit too out there as far as styling. I could make some cash to put towards the next watch purchase. Big Grin

Well that didn’t go according to plan. The watch came in the mail a day or so before my family and I went to Oak Island NC for our summer vacation (super neat beach BTW that I highly recommend)

I ended up bonding with the watch way more than I expected. It handled surfing, salt water and sand brilliantly. Now the Khuraburi is one of my absolute favorite summer/beach watches. It was my first titanium watch and is one that I don’t ever plan on selling. Cool

Stick, that Doxa looks fantastic. Love the contrast of the orange on the white.
The 1500T Caribbean is a looker too, in blue with the orange hands

That Doxa is a bit busy for me, but I like the overall lines, and the blue/orange color combo.

If you had asked me 6 months ago if I would wear an orange watch, I would have said "hell no". But I've been surprised at just how versatile they are, and how well they work with a variety of clothing colors.

Now I own 3 - two that are blue with orange accents, plus the recently acquired full orange one.

True, some of them a bit too loud, for me, when it's something like a neon/vibrant orange.
Some of the darker hues I could see having, otherwise, it'd be a very occasional wear as I generally prefer a darker faced piece.

The bezel might make it look busy but it’s an ingenious no decompression dive table incorporated into the bezel. I love Doxa also gives you a minute track on the bezel when it is not being used as a dive table. (Which is pretty much all the time) Big Grin

I kinda like it, probably because I hadn't seen one before seeing it on that watch. (And because I'm a Seiko nerd.)

I've been pretty much of the same opinion -- just not sure I'm bold enough to wear an orange watch. I, too, usually prefer the darker dials. I think an orange Samurai could be a pretty cool summer watch, though. Big Grin

Hmm. I like a cleaner look, myself; easier to read and faster to register. For NDL planning before a dive I have my PADI dive tables, including ones for various gas mixtures, and for timing during a dive I have a gas-integrated dive computer...which includes depth readout, ascent rate indicator, tank pressure readout, various alarms, etc.

But you have to admit BrianO that it is neat that they found a way to put the table onto the bezel in a functional way.

That is a beautiful Hamilton. I wish they would have kept this Khaki variant 41mm rather than jumping up to 43mm. 43mm in this case shape is just too big to be as comfortable on my tiny wrists as its predecessor. I came close to pulling the trigger on a used one I found for $600 (this watch is over $800 on jomashop) but it’s just too big for me now. Frown

I do love the blue hands and indices quite a bit but the previous version Hamilton made is much better looking even if it doesn’t have quite as much water resistance.

It originally had an identical looking bracelet as the new version but I swapped it out for mesh because mesh is superior in every aspect. Big Grin
