War Expands With Massive Israeli Airstrikes 60km Deep Into Lebanon

https://www.zerohedge.com/geop...me-60km-deep-lebanon

The Israel-Hezbollah war is expanding, which was on display Monday as Israel for the first time struck near a large city which is deep inside Lebanon, far away from the border, in the region of Ghaziyeh.

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari has confirmed in a statement that military was behind large airstrikes that rocked a town just south of Sidon earlier in the day. Hagari the strikes targeted Hezbollah weapons depots, and also served as a response to an explosive-laden that struck northern Israel previously on Monday. Video captured the moment of the massive airstrikes:

Sidon is the third largest city in Lebanon, and the region that was attack lies at least 45-60 kilometers from the Israeli border. So far the tit-for-tat strikes which stretch back to early October, following the Hamas terror attack on southern Israel, have been confined to southern Lebanon. Fighting has by and large stayed to within kilometers of the border on either side.

"Israeli jets attacked near Sidon on Monday, Israeli media reported, citing the Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Akhbar newspaper," regional media also confirms. "The two strikes occurred in the region of Ghaziyeh some 60 km from Israel's northern border."

This also marks the first time a Sunni-dominant area has been hit (as opposed to focusing on the Shia south, where Hezbollah has most sway)...

Casualties in Ghaziyeh are as yet unknown, but the location was deep in a civilian area along the coast.

Meanwhile there are reports of missile alert sirens sounding once again in various towns of northern Israel, which portend the coming Hezbollah response.

Attack is unprecedented since fighting began following Oct.7, given this is very deep inside Lebanese territory:

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz recently repeated a warning to the Lebanese government, saying that if Hezbollah isn't removed from near the border that Lebanon would "pay a heavy price". However, Lebanon's Army is widely seen as not having the capability to remove the powerful Shia paramilitary group backed by Iran, which would also most certainly set off another civil war.

https://www.foxnews.com/world/...halt-rafah-offensive

The Biden administration is reportedly taking its goal of a temporary cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war to the U.N. Security Council as early as Tuesday.

The administration is said to have proposed a draft U.N. Security Council resolution which in part would call for a temporary cease-fire and call on Israel not to go into Rafah in the Gaza Strip.

According to Reuters, the U.S. text states in part that it "determines that under current circumstances a major ground offensive into Rafah would result in further harm to civilians and their further displacement including potentially into neighboring countries."

Richard Goldberg, a former NSC official during the Trump administration, told Fox News Digital, "The United States should be vetoing pro-Hamas resolutions, not proposing them. By putting forward a resolution calling for a ceasefire and opposing Israeli military action in Rafah, the White House is effectively pushing for Hamas to survive to massacre another day. This is a complete betrayal of U.S. interests and values."

Fox News Digital reported that Biden is putting Israel in a vice in order to win over the large American-Muslim vote in Dearborn, Michigan, which is a critical swing state in his 2024 reelection campaign.

If true, how truly despicable the left really is. Trading votes for terrorism and massacres. I am disgusted by the left.

Israel Sets Timeline To Start Of Rafah Offensive, Issues Hamas An Ultimatum

https://www.zerohedge.com/geop...ive-issues-ultimatum

After ceasefire negotiations have faltered, Israel has given Hamas a new ultimatum, with top Israeli war cabinet official Benny Gantz saying that Israel will launch a full assault on the southern city of Rafah if all remaining hostages aren't released by Ramadan. The Muslim holiday begins on March 10 this year, which is a few weeks away.

"The world must know, and Hamas leaders must know — if by Ramadan our hostages are not home, the fighting will continue to the Rafah area," Gantz told a conference of Jewish American organizations in Jerusalem on Sunday.

This marks the first time Israeli leadership has issued a clear timeline on the start of the Rafah offensive.

‘They Have No Idea’: Hillary Clinton Calls Out Pro-Palestinian Protesters

The former secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, on Saturday sharply criticized pro-Palestiniain protesters at American universities. Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, the erstwhile first lady and U.S. senator — who now teaches international and public affairs at Columbia University — expressed her dismay over the students at countless institutions of higher education, including her own, who began rallying against Israel in the immediate aftermath of Hamas’s October 7 attack.

Describing a panel discussion on “conflict-related sexual violence” at the Columbia School of International and Public Affairs that covered Ukraine, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Israel, Clinton told the audience that anti-Israel protesters came to demonstrate.

“You just have to ask yourself how you could have an event on using rape as a tactic of war against women and girls — which is in conflict across the world — and you include the most recent example of Israel, and that brings out the protesters,” she said.

Clinton then attributed the protests to a form of antisemitism prevalent in academia at the moment.

Netanyahu Finally Presents Gaza Post-War Plan To Cabinet & It's Sure To Anger Biden Admin

https://www.zerohedge.com/geop...re-anger-biden-admin

On Thursday night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented Israel's security cabinet with a much anticipated document outlining plans for the 'day after' Hamas in the Gaza Strip. He's repeatedly vowed to not stop the large-scale military operation Gaza until the terror group is completely eradicated - a tall order which some analysts say could take years to actually accomplish - and the question of who will rule Gaza in the aftermath has become a contentious one.

The US has wanted to see West Bank-based Palestinian Authority (PA) eventually take over, but Netanyahu has firmly rejected this as a plausible scenario, calling the PA 'terror supporters'. Of the new plan presented to top officials, Israeli media writes, "The subsequently publicized document, a one-pager released overnight in Israel, is largely a collection of principles the premier has been vocalizing since the beginning of the war, but it is the first time they have formally been presented to the cabinet for approval." Many of his ministers want to see Israel simply annex the Strip, however.

A main theme of the document is that Israel will aim to install "local officials" from among Palestinians to administer services for the Gaza Strip instead of Hamas.

They must be completely unaffiliated with Hamas, and further must not be involved with or backed by "countries or entities that support terrorism" (which means especially Qatar or Iran). There is no mention in the proposed plan of whether these might be Palestinian Authority representatives.

Another interesting main point is the establishment of a "de-radicalization plan… in all religious, educational and welfare institutions in Gaza."

Crucially, the document lays out that "The IDF will continue the war until achieving its goals, which are the destruction of the military capabilities and governmental infrastructure of Hamas and Islamic Jihad, the return of the hostages abducted on October 7, and the removal of any security threat from Gaza Strip long-term."

The operation will continue until Israeli forces achieve the "complete demilitarization" of the Strip "beyond what is required for the needs of maintaining public order."

An extensive security buffer zone will also be maintained on the Palestinian side of the Strip's border "as long as there is a security need for it" - which essentially means an indefinite occupation of this border region.

Overall the document establishes principles which are directly at odds with the Biden administration's desired outcome of the Strip being handed over to the PA in the future. Biden and his top officials have also voiced support for a two state solution, however which the Netanyahu document denounces as a "reward for terror".

Meanwhile, Israel's military has declared it is safe for residents to return to communities which lie within 4km of the Gaza border. The effected 18 border settlements include Zikim, Karmia, Yad Mordechai, Erez, Or Haner, Ibim, Sderot, Nir Am, Gevim, Mefalsim, Sa’ad, Alumim, Reim, Magen, Nir Yitzhak, Shlomit, Naveh and Bnei Netzarim - according to the statement.

John Kirby on post-war plans: We don't believe in forced displacement of Gazans

White House National Security Council Spokesperson asked about Israel's post-war plans: We have very consistent positions, we still hold to them.

https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/385717

While Kirby did not comment on the specifics of the outline presented by Netanyahu, he did say that the Biden administration does not believe in reducing the size of Gaza or the forced displacement of any residents.

"Of course, we don't want to see Gaza dominated, ruled or governed over by Hamas. Those are very consistent positions, we still hold to them," Kirby said. "And as I said earlier, we made that consistently clear with our Israeli counterparts."

Asked about Israeli construction in Judea and Samaria, after Israel announced it would approve thousands of new housing units in response to the shooting attack near Maaleh Adumim, Kirby replied, "Frankly, they're inconsistent with international law."

On Friday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken reversed the policy set by the Trump administration and said Washington views the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria as “inconsistent with international law”.

Speaking at a news conference during a trip to Buenos Aires, Blinken said the United States was disappointed by Israel's announcement of plans to approve new housing units in Judea and Samaria.

Blinken thus effectively revoked the so-called “Pompeo Doctrine”, which deemed Jewish towns in Judea and Samaria “not per se inconsistent with international law.”

In 2019, then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo implemented the policy, overturning a 1978 memo by State Department legal adviser Herbert Hansell, which characterized “settlements” as “illegal”.

I'm glad to hear of Netanyahu's progress so far, and glad the Israelis aren't caving to the Biden and international woke antisemitism and long-standing hatred. Like I said before, being kind to those who want to kill you only makes them more deadly. Goodness in return for evil generates more evil. Traditional christian doctrine along these lines has its natural and completely predictable limitations.

Netanyahu:

“Hamas is a terrorist organization that- once we begin the Rafah operation, the intense phase of the fighting is weeks away from completion, not months, weeks away from completion.

And that is- we’ve already destroyed 18 of the 24 Hamas terrorist battalions. So we- we have– and four of them are concentrated in the Rafah. We can’t leave the last Hamas stronghold without taking care of it, obviously, we have to do it.

But understand, too, that I’ve asked the army to submit to me a double plan, first to evacuate to enable the evacuation of the Palestinian civilians in Gaza, and, obviously, second, to destroy the remaining Hamas battalions. That gets us a real, real distance towards the completion of our victory, and that- we’re not going to give it up. If we have a deal, it’ll be delayed somewhat. But it’ll happen. If we don’t have a deal, we’ll do it anyway. It has to be done. Because total victory is our goal, and total victory is within reach. Not months away, weeks away once we begin the operation.”

Bibi is Trump 2.0 he's focused and knows what needs to be done and pursues it to the end. Israel is lucky to have him as we are lucky Trump will be President again. I'm sure Bibi is as anxious as we are to get Trump back to where he rightfully belongs.
