Yep a lot selective or cherry picking reporting going on these days.

Known as leaving out pertinent details or, in the legal world, exculpatory evidence.

They aren't lying but, they're NOT giving you the entire picture either.

A 36 pack would last me three years.

No, sorry, sorry. That's incorrect. Three decades. Yeah, that's it.

This is an interesting observation. Her statements may have don't more damage than the actual Mulvaney "campaign".

This whole thing puts InBud in an interesting no-win position. Do they go groveling back to their legacy customer base, trying (likely ineffectively) to get back in their good graces? Or do they fail forward with the attempts to sell this piss water beer to a younger, more diverse market, who really could probably give a shit about Bud Light, no matter how InBud tries to sell it?

Everyone keeps missing the fact that Bud Light's marketing idiot was on video dissing their customer base. Even TimCast missed mentioning it when they were talking about it recently. "This is because of the thing..." Yeah, and the flapping gums of the dumbass employee.

A-B responds to controversy: Just ‘one single can’ sent to one influencer

ST. LOUIS — Anheuser-Busch is now telling retail customers that a recent controversy is just a tempest in a pint glass.

In a letter to wholesalers that was forwarded to some local bars and restaurants, the brewery addressed the backlash to a marketing campaign featuring transgender social-media influencer Dylan Mulvaney, which led to a steep decline in Bud Light sales over the last month.

“This was one single can given to one social media influencer,” the letter states. “It was not made for production or sale to the general public. This can is not a formal campaign or advertisement.”

Mulvaney, 26, posted a video on TikTok showing a can of Bud Light with her face on it that was given to her to celebrate her 365th day of girlhood. The video also showed her sipping a beer as part of March Madness, and she joked that she did not know which sport she was promoting.

A-B’s letter was forwarded to retailers, bars and restaurants by Grey Eagle, a Fenton-based company that distributes Anheuser-Busch products to a 14-county region around St. Louis. Grey Eagle does not distribute to the city of St. Louis, Jefferson County and parts of Washington and Iron counties.

Grey Eagle included a cover letter. “Anheuser-Busch did not intend to create controversy or make a political statement,” it said.

“In reality, the Bud Light can posted by a social media influencer that sparked all the conversation was provided by an outside agency without Anheuser-Busch management awareness or approval,” Grey Eagle continued in its letter. “Since that time, the lack of oversight and control over marketing decisions has been addressed and a new VP of Bud Light marketing has been announced.”

Todd Allen, most recently the global vice president of Budweiser, is the new vice president of marketing for Bud Light, which is a bigger brand.

Robert Lachky, the former chief creative officer at Anheuser-Busch, said the decision to use a transgender influencer to sell Bud Light was a calamitous mistake.

”The minute you step into the political or religious spectrum, when you know your target audience is going to have a real issue with this, you know you’ve alienated at least half of your target audience,” he said.

”In the end, people don’t like getting preached to, especially when it comes to drinking beer.”

Lachky left the company in 2009, shortly after it was acquired by Belgian-based InBev. He said the corporate marketing immediately began to slide after the acquisition when the company brought in foreign-born marketers who did not understand the American audience.

Now that the marketers are all American again, they still do not understand who consumes Bud Light and other mainstream Anheuser-Busch products, he said.

”None of these marketing folks has ever been to a NASCAR race, none has been to a football game or a rodeo,” he said.

“That’s insanity. That’s marketing incompetence,” he said.

These guys really have never heard of the "When you're in a hole, stop digging" rule. I can't imagine what their next blunder over this issue will be. Surely, there's someone on the board with an iota of common sense who can bring AB's C-suite back to reality. Not that I care, as their product sucks and is overpriced. But it hurts my brain to see such highly paid incompetence.

This has ALWAYS been a brilliant marketing strategy in any market.

Do something that pisses off your customers so bad that they stop buying your product or services all together. Then tell them they are overreacting and it's nothing to be so wound up about.

I'm sure this will fix everything Roll Eyes

Eat shit and die, Anheuser-Busch.

Goodness, they're simply incapable of admitting their mistake and saying I'm sorry.

People don't like getting preached at, scolded and lectured to whatsoever, much less from a beverage company.

The last 20-30 years, we've seen this shift of MBA types who have zero cultural understanding or, attachment to the company they're hired by, enact their 'vision' their 'strategy' and monumentally backfire. I get it, you win some, you loose some, risks must be taken in the marketplace however, the tone-deafness of promoting this Mulvaney-clown, speaks to the monumental disconnect between executives and the consumers of their product. Hope this hurts, for a long time, stupid actions like this need to be held up as examples of what not to do and the road not to travel down.

That, and these people have lived every day with social media feeding them the narrative, in the car, in bed, taking a dump, walking down the sidewalk, push push push push comes the narrative, and they don't turn off the machine, it lives an breaths 24/7 in your life.

Basically they thought it was cool and accepted universally, and would increase ESG scores and stock prices.

What they missed was good ol SM allowed Ms. Dumbass to tell the world the why of the decision, and how all those people who don't buy their move are not needed. For all her education and training, arrogance and the desire to be published on SM took her down. Ironic and poetic all in one..

All they have to do is apologize, but they keep telling us that the problem is that we have misinterpreted their intent, oh and by the way, they didn't know anything about it anyway, 'cause somebody who is no longer with the company did it.

Oh, and NOW- now AB will actually "oversee" marketing campaigns. For fuck's sake Roll Eyes

Just

fucking

apologize

But, it's too late for that, anyway.

If they apologize, then the alphabet agitators will begin attacking as well as the soft headed gender affirmation crowd. It's a mess. Time is the only solution. Time and silence.

They blew it big time, this could have been an opportunity to get the customers back, but they doubled down on the insanity of calling your customers uneducated non inclusive frat boy red necks who just don't get it.

Take it down, take it all the way down, burn down all those who suffer from it, until the market understands, ESG and Transgender politics don't belong in the corporate world, you could lose everything.

Bud Light getting hammered into obscurity is the best thing that can happen to kill this ridiculous fight to push social politics into corporate product marketing for political points.
