Sorry for the erroneous press on the MCX - lets just say that like the P250 / P320 / 556 XI, all of the "options" typically take a long time to trickle down and be available.

IE, conversion kits, barrels, rails, etc NEVER materialize anywhere close to the timelines touted.

From SIG:

Kate Moss, the A3-ish slider and other stocks will be out by September.

MPX-K will be shipped with Gen2 (multi-cal capable) receivers and keymod handguards. [LDD: Yes, this is what I've been waiting for]

MPX 16" Carbine (not "C" model) will also be multi-cal capable and ship with a keymod handguard.

On the charging handle issue: SIG engineering is looking at the issue, Gen2 "multi-cal" uppers will ship with a new ambi-charging handle. [LDD: My assumption is if SIG commits to fixing the charging handle droop/flop this will be integrated into the new charging handle.]

MPX-K and MPX Carbine are slated for Q4 release.

MPX-K . . . is this what it looks like ?

(thank you Mr. LDD for the photo Wink )

If this is what it will be, and they fix the "floppy handle" Roll Eyes issue, then it might be possible to be persuaded to have interest again... maybe Frown

October of this year will work, but been there, done that Frown

That's an older non-KeyMod version of it but yeah, it's pretty similar to that. Check out Sig's Instagram page for more recent pics, some with the skeletonized stock attached.

This is a mock-up of the now-cancelled 6.5" model. I've never seen one in real life and SIG didn't even talk about it in June of last year so I would guess that the only way you'd get a 6.5" is to buy your own 8"/16" and cut it down.

The above gun has the carbon fiber Add-A-Rail handguard. The MPX-Ks will all ship with KeyMod Rails, so they will look more like this:

But I also suspect the upper receiver will look slightly different since they will be Gen2 multi-caliber.

Hopefully they are gonna help us out who already purchased one with the new upper to accommodate the caliber change option.

So.. where does that leave those of us who purchased the Gen 1 MPX -- which is marked "Multi Cal" -- who were looking forward to being able to change calibers down the road? Are we simply SOL?

The new Gen2 upper will be compatible with your existing lowers.

Bigger issue is probably time. I suspect all initial Gen2 production will go to K uppers and Carbine uppers. It will probably be sometime in 2016 before you'll be able to order Gen2 uppers with 8" barrels as parts.

Its nice they will work with our lowers but we are having to buy a new upper to do what we were told the guns would do to start with?

Admittedly, this does get into a grey area. I knew that the first Gen1 MPXs were 9mm only and I tried to share that with everyone so they'd know what they were getting into.

I'm sorry if you didn't get that info before you purchased yours.

Technically, the lower is the firearm. Therefore the lower is caliber-marked. And your lower will accept the Gen2 upper, so the fact that it is marked multi-cal marked is not fraudulent.

When I approached SIG about this initially, they stated that owners of Gen1 guns would be able to buy Gen2 uppers at a discount.

I'm going to look at the case my MPX was shipped from the factory in when I get home tonight, as I am pretty confident it reads "Multi-caliber" (or something such)...

Might be time to exercise that retainer I'm paying my attorney for. Cool

Well, at least my lower will be all chipped up from the charging handle by the time I can install my "discounted" Gen2 upper. Wink

LDD, is it safe to assume that the current magazine will remain unchanged and will work with the V2 lowers as well?

From my discussions with SIG, the lowers aren't changing: the differences between Gen1 and Gen2 are entirely contained in the upper receivers.

Interesting... the lower of my MPX, which is serialized, is marked:

SIG MPX
MULTI-CAL.

I also went back and looked at the product description from the sale our friends at TGS held on the MPX on 5/16 (from which I purchased), and nothing in the product description indicates that I was purchasing a "gen 1" gun (in, fact, there was no reference to ANY generational issues at that time), and also states the gun provides for easy, in-field, caliber changes.

Maybe not fraud, but clearly misrepresentation.

I just wanted to check to see if anyone received the ambidextrous charging handle. I had one on order and received it a couple days ago. I tried to swap out my charging handles last night and the new one won't fit. Its about a half an inch longer that the original
