One of the guys at my local bike shop has a green version of this watch. It looks a lot like that Maratac. He was shocked when I complimented him on his automatic Ball watch and has become a good friend of mine. He said something like “most people don’t notice it let alone correctly identify it as a Ball watch!” He is a great dude and has sold me quite a few bikes over the years Big Grin

The Ball runs around $1k used. Eek

I like the crown location on the Maratac more.

Stickman, I see what you're saying now, they likely did take some design cues from that Ball. It's a neat looking watch for sure. The DC50 is less busy, though, which I like, and I agree with you on the crown positions.

I've been curious about dual crown/compressor style watches for a while now. Changing out bezels on dive watches is fun, but after I shattered that lumed sapphire bezel insert I got for my Combat Sub, which wasn't long after the bezel itself got jammed with shell fragments while swimming with it at Coca Beach, it sort of soured me a little on the standard dive watch model. It's more stuff to get bashed up or broken. I know it can be fixed and swapped, but I've turned out to be less of a tinkerer than I thought I would be. Anyway, I know one can get into luxury budget watches in that realm. Hey, on that note and along with the orange dial kick, get an eyeful of this Milus Archimèdes. Oh, look... comes on a mesh strap, too. Big Grin

Gradated black on flat orange, classic 30's style font. Impressive. Now let's see Paul Allen's watch.

sgalczyn, they still have 27 of them left! Big Grin

On the subject of titanium Seiko’s SPB357 (that’s an easy reference number to remember Big Grin Big Grin) is probably the Seiko I am most tempted by currently besides the DLC & purple Zimbe Sumo with Seiko’s best dial that’s been tempting me for years.

I wonder if my local AD has this one?

It is very tempting VThoky. Our local AD is having a customer appreciation event this weekend. Think you’ll attend?

For a little more I could scoop up a clean pre-owned Sinn 206 Ti. I don’t own a factory titanium Seiko and I do like how the SPB357 looks like a Samurai with a STO-esque dial. I like it but I might have too many Seiko watches. Big Grin

I’ve been trying to convince myself that it is ridiculous to want to get one of these. They are stupid expensive but they are VERY rare and I LOVE how it looks. It’s a Doxa I see holding it a value very well long term.

Tissot jumped onto the carbon case bandwagon. I’m not sure how strong a carbon case is or whether I would like one so this is an interesting option to dip one’s toe into the carbon case pool.

It’s certainly a hell of a lot more affordable than the Aqualung Doxa and it has a somewhat similar vibe going along with a Powermatic80 movement, which I just adore.

The Aqualung is a little busy for me.
What's with the green & red indices on the Tissot? Throw it on a darker strap & it'd be a contender.

In typical Tissot fashion they made a few colorway options that are all equally tempting. It’s a retro style reissue of Tissot’s first fiberglass cased watch.

The green and red is a regatta scale. Review of Tissot Sideral

Quick disconnect straps and room for a NATO means it should be a fun watch to experiment with various straps. Smile

I think I’m gonna get one if I can ever decide on a color. Big Grin

I like that the blue dial version has blue mixed into the forged carbon case.

I like the blue carbon, but prefer the face on the red band.

If you're a "Sinner" like me, you might be pleased to know that Sinn now offers their rubber straps with a quick/micro adjust buckle feature. It's a very comfortable strap, but I've been waiting quite awhile for this change and now that I have one of these on my U1, it's my favorite strap!

That Sinn looks great! I love the red strap and how it matches the red on the dial and hands. What a great color combo!

If any of you have been thinking about Sinn I HIGHLY recommend them. I LOVE my 206 & 203. I’ve been thinking about a DLC U2 made out of U boat steel.

I've got it on my calendar... planning to get there. I'll keep you posted.

That day looks hella busy -- a trip down there that morning, and then another run north of me that evening. Gonna be a high-mileage day! Big Grin

My U1 is fully tegimented and built like a tank. It'd take a real effort to scratch it. I think the next model on my "to do list" would be this black PVD/DLC Model 857, which I understand should be back in stock this fall. Getting it on a strap will be less expensive to start and these are "strap monsters"!!!

So I did shoot her a text and they don’t have the SPB357 in stock but they can get it from one of their other stores. Big Grin. Why am I not surprised that she can get it!?!?

Pulicords, that Sinn 857 is awesome! I’m a sucker for DLC watches and love Sinn’s style. Yeah that thing is an absolute strap monster.

I don’t need any more Seiko watches. BUT a titanium Shogun is the one gaping hole in my Seiko collection other than a titanium case spring drive diver. Wink

Now for something completely different.

Omega you magnificent bastards! You FINALLY made a Seamaster that speaks to me!! Big Grin

Have you guys seen this thing yet!?!?!?

My mother just beat cancer. She mentioned to me a few times that her beloved Seiko solar watch is acting up. I bought her a ceramic homage to the Chanel J12 (super cool watch BTW) and she was really upset when my father accidentally left it in his pocket and it went through the washing machine. He was supposed to put a new battery in it but forgot he had it in his pocket.

I think I might get her one of these for her birthday. Though I am also considering a quartz Tag Heuer Aquaracer with a pink MOP dial that I know she loves.
