Speaking of cyclops... I made a once in a lifetime watch trade in CA. Wife and I were visiting her cousin in N. Hollywood this past Sunday. I went for a walk down Hollywood Blvd. while the other 2 were going in and out of stores along the way. I am crossing the street when I spot a guy with a ’72 Cadillac with the trunk open. I walked about 50 feet down the side street to look at the car (my late uncle had one just like it) and saw what two other guys were looking at. Watches and jewelry. The guy who appeared to be the car’s owner said to me as I approached: “Is that an Omega Diver?” I said it was and he proceeded to tell me that he had been looking for one for almost 2 years like that and would I be interested in doing a trade. I said not really but what did you have in mind? He pulled out these two:
and said for $100 + my Seamaster he would trade me for the pair of Rolexes! I couldn’t dig out the c-note fast enough to get the deal done. So for my 10 year old 300M and a bit of cash I got these 2 near new Submariners!!! He even apoligized that he had left the factory boxes and papers at his home in Brentwood. I didn’t care!
