My Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm has a weak ejection problem. My 40SW Sig P229 DAK's take down lever broke on the 35th round. My Glock 23 just keeps on working flawlessly. I didn't think I'd ever buy a Glock but I'm really glad I did. __________________________________________________________ "Better judged by twelve than carried by six." - Booker T. Washington

The fat part I have no real qualms with--dealing the physical aspects is definitely up to the individual--but expecting a gun to have a soul...that's a bit too far out there, I think. Next thing we'll be reading about are the private conversations individuals have with their personal firearms. Really Scary Stuff.
I dunno about sweetness and all, but it otherwise does do its intended job pretty damn well.

Same here. I bought my first Glock, a 26, last fall. What an easy gun to conceal, fits my hand perfectly, and I don't think you could make it malfunction if you tried. Every other gun maker out there would love to have Glock's reputation for going bang every time.

Over the past two months I succumbed. 2 G20's, 1 G29, 1 G26 and yesterday a G17. I'm digging it!

I'm not making this up: Went to the range today (just got back). Loaded up a couple of mags with CCI Brass 180 gr. SWC. Chambered a round, aimed at the target about 30 feet away. I wanted to shoot a magazine slow and carefully aimed just to see how the gun felt and how accurate it was. Press the trigger. Click. WTF?? This is a Glock! It doesn't go click. I laughed out loud. Well, maybe just one somewhat bitter "Ha!" Tap. Rack. (The chambered round ejects.) Click. Drop the magazine and eject the chambered round. Look at both rounds. Both have a light dimple on the primer. So, the firing pin did hit it, but FF. Maybe bad ammo. Back to my car, I return with Winchester JHP. This is good stuff. Aim. Trigger press. Click. My Glock don't shoot!! I must have the only Glock in America that don't shoot. I'm thinking it must be the firing pin. Any other ideas? I'm returning tomorrow morning to the LGS where I made the purchase. ______________________________________________________ "You get much farther with a kind word and a gun than with a kind word alone."

I've owned a few Glocks over the years. They were reliable, decently accurate, unbelieveably cheap in comparison to other guns I own but they just don't point well for me. I like Glocks...I just am not a huge fan of some of their user base (not really Glocks fault)

Bought my first Glock (Gen4 G34) last year (arthritis) after a lifetime of revolvers, 1911's and Sigs(in that order). I'm not going to buy another one...immediately. All my guns are carry guns and I thought I'd have to get a G19 later. Took a chance and ordered a Sparks VM-2 (IWB). Guess what - the G34 turned into a carry gun. Very concealable, comfortable and fast out of the holster. Fortunately, I took a chance and ignored all of the Internet experts. You know the drill...G34 is a COMPETITION gun and you gotta get a G19 for carry. It carries almost as well as my P239 and as well as my P226 and P229. Something impressive about a long sight radius and 52 rounds of 9mm +P+ on the belt. At age 70 I'm too old to run. ______________________ An expert is one who knows more and more about less and less until he knows absolutely everything about nothing. --Nicholas Murray Butler

Name another pistol that is as compact, yet still holds 16 rounds topped up, as the Glock 19. Every one I can think of with similar capacity is longer either in the butt or the slide.

I think this thread should be retitled to "You will buy Glocks". The G34 pic request thread combined with my last range session convinced me that i need a 17L and and a 35. I had zero Glocks and zero interest in them until this forum influenced me. I now have 0 Sigs and 4 Glocks with 2 on the wish list.

it never ends. I haven't even shot my last purchase (a real nice G20 that I picked up Saturday) and I turned around and bought a nice G34 today. Nice! I've been waiting for my local shop to get a G34Gen4 for a while! You carrying the G34 in the Milt Sparks? Anything special with the mag pouch?

Yep I have Sparks VM-2's for all of my carry guns. P239, P226, P229, Wilson Pro. I've been using Sparks since the the mid 1970's and have been pleased with every holster I have ever gotten from them. I consider Sparks as the "thinking man's" holster maker. Small shop, good design with attention to detail. I view holster design as something of an art form. The small details they consider in their holsters are often unnoticed. I have always carried on a daily basis, all day long. Hot weather, cold weather, etc. First, I'm not a big guy (5'7", medium build, medium belly). The Glock VM-2 carries perfectly. The long slide does not bite me in the butt and is 100% comfortable for all day carry. Gun butt doesn't catch me in the ribs. The distance to clear the top of the holster isn't much different from my P239 or 1911 Commander length guns. You will notice on the top of the holster that the top of the belt loop is flush with the top of the holster itself. In other words, the muzzle just has to clear the top of the belt on the draw. I have belt holsters for my guns also. In our draw/fire drills I will use my VM-2's, depending on the season. I can't notice any difference in draw speed. A proper draw is the key. Regarding the mag pouch, it is a Sparks D-4CF, which is the fixed loop double mag carrier. It's as close a fit as you are going to get with double stack mags. With single stack mags I prefer two single pouches for the flexibility in positioning. With double stacks I have settled on a double pouch since it seems to stabilize the bulkier mags better than a single. I use a 1 1/4" belt for all of my carry. The VM-2 and the D-4CF snug in nicely and are very comfortable. Some people cringe at the prices for quality leather. I have never seen the logic in paying $700-900 for a gun and trying to save $50 with a cheap holster. Current pricing for the holster/mag carrier is $114/$65. Delivery times have gone from seven months down to about five. Last year there were scalpers buying multiple holsters and selling them on e-bay until Sparks and e-bay cracked down on them. Tom Kanaly refused to compromise quality and did not ramp up production to meet the phoney demand. He was more interested in satisfying his loyal customers than in making a quick buck. Refreshing. Finally, as an aside, I miss the old days in the gun world. In the late 1970's, when Milt was still alive, I ordered a holster. Delivery times were about 4-6 weeks. I received a hand written note from Mrs. Sparks telling me the order was going to take a couple of weeks longer. She and Milt were going out to Gunsite to see Jeff Cooper and shoot the annual IPSC match. Good luck on your G34. It will be worth the wait. ______________________ An expert is one who knows more and more about less and less until he knows absolutely everything about nothing. --Nicholas Murray Butler

If Glock made a long slide 10mm, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I could convert one of my G20SFs with a Glock or Lone Wolf barrel and a Lone Wolf long slide. I prefer my carry guns to be stock. I prefer not to give an attorney any openings. U.S. Army, Retired

Don't like the way they look, don't like the way they feel, don't shop at Wal-Mart (maybe too far, but that's what they feel like and elicit in me). I won't buy a gun that I don't like, Glock's may work every time, just work, whatever, but it's presumptive and erroneous to think there aren't other guns just as reliable and a whole lot better looking, and to me Glock's are ugly and utilitarian, and just uncomfortable. I have never posted in any thread about Glock's (and this will be my first and last), but more than any other gun I just don't get why people feel they have to convince me (and the internet world) how fabulous they are, and how we must all buy one. I don't like them, won't own one, have no desire to shoot those that friends bring to the range with them, and they let their Glocks sit while they shoot whatever I bring to the range. If I got a coupon in the mail for a free enema, and someone told me how great it was, I wouldn't go get that either, so I just wish people would stop sending the proverbial Glock coupons. Better now (and all meant in good fun).
