I bought my first Glock - a 19, what you would call a "third generation" - in 1998. I "took" to it right away, promptly blowing holes in the center of my target after struggling with DA/SA - that were also too big for my hands - and revolvers. I still have it, and it is still my "go-to" defense/CCW, despite some challengers. The only things I have changed on it are night sights and a slightly extended slide lock tab with an accompanying upgraded retention spring. Initially it functioned perfectly with FMJ but failed to feed the last round of a JHP, nosing it down and catching the edge on the bottom edge of the feed ramp. This turned out to be magazine followers, and it has eaten several bushels of ammo since with no gun-related stoppages.

Two others I've purchased - a 27 and a 30 - didn't fill my needs, and I sold them. The 27 was a police trade-in, IIRC, and I just couldn't resist a like-new gun for $299. But the .40 cartridge was unpleasant to shoot. I can still see myself, at some point, getting a 26 in the milder 9mm, though. The 30 shot well enough, but needs to be slimmed down, especially in the slide. Also, at the time, a box of .45 generic ball was a ten-spot a box. Now that it is 70-90% more I don't like it as much. I wish Todd Green would release "the gadget" already.

I carried a Gen 4 G19 and 17 for awhile and loved them. But when I switch to appendix carry completely, I appreciated being able to put my thumb over the hammer on my P2000 LEM.

I am getting the itch for the Glocks again.

Took my two "summer sweat on", outdoors activity pistols to the range yesterday: Glock 19 & 32, both gen3. Ran both of them in some fast combat drills and loved it. Both performed flawless in every way. The Glock certainly has its place in the great cosmic scheme of things. Bill

I've always hated Glocks but for some reason I'm being drawn towards a G26 at my LGS. Still fighting it though.

Another Glock question -

My LGS has a G26 with a silver (stainless-looking) slide. I was pretty sure that Glock doesn't make them like this, but the guy said "that's the way it came to us from Glock, so they must have made some." He said he had at least two in stock, as well.

any info on these Glocks? I really like the looks of it.

Those are the EXO Glocks. It is a nickel-boron coating. Type in EXO in the search field and you will find several results most of which are in this thread.

Here is a link posted earlier in this thread.

So, after doing some research on the EXO Glocks, I went ahead and got one! this is my first Glock I have ever owned!

A NIB two tone G26. I'm guessing it is a gen 3?

So, the finish on the slide doesn't need as much oil? and can still go through any of the same shit a "normal" glock can?

I see a lot of the same basic descriptions of the finish, but can't tell much more than 1. it's pretty damn tough. 2. it's "self-lubricating". 3. they clean easier. 4. and it looks pretty sweet (coming from someone who kinda hates hated the looks of Glocks.)

anything else i should know about my new G26?

I would still oil it and maintenance it like any other Glock. Just because some one comes out with some new and improved finish, doesnt change the fact that you still have metal against metal.

But i do agree, it is a nice looking gun. And should make it a breeze to clean.

I shot a friends G-26 yesterday and could not believe how accurate that little puppy was at 25feet. You can't beat a Glock for the money or reliability. That's just the truth.I will be adding to the 23 I have now.

LOL, I did I did. My LGS had a G22 RTF2 marked down to cost at $ 465.00. Gun was new in the box and to boot they had installed a set of trueglow night sights. Not a bad score Big Grin

Just bought my first Glock. 19 Gen 4 in Dark Earth. It was weird - up until today I had never even held a Glock. But when the guy behind the counter handed it to me, I was like "Ooooohhh. Welcome home." This might replace my 229 as my carry gun. We'll see...

I'm late to the party, but I've had lots of Glocks.

17,19C,21,(2)22,26,36.

The 26 was my second handgun. I bought it two years ago.
