The White House said Thursday that President Joe Biden would obey the Centers for Disease Control — even if they wanted more coronavirus lockdowns.

“We listen to the CDC, the experts, and their guidance,” Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said when asked if Biden would support future lockdowns. “The CDC is a body that is very well respected and we follow their guidance.”

When asked why Americans should trust Biden’s support for masking requirements, even for the vaccinated, Jean-Pierre replied, “Because we listen to the scientists, we listen to the experts.”

Jean-Pierre’s response is the latest example of the Biden administration’s surrender to the coronavirus and the CDC’s questionable masking advisories.

A growing number of Republicans continue questioning the CDC for their decision to reinstate masking recommendations, even though the decision was partially based on data from vaccines not approved in the United States, according to the CDC’s Scientific Brief.

The president continues taking aggressive actions to force Americans to get vaccinated, after making it mandatory for Veterans Affairs frontline workers to be vaccinated.

Biden is also expected to announce a plan Thursday afternoon to mandate that all federal employees get the vaccine or submit to regular testing and distancing protocols.

On Wednesday, the White House also reinstated masking guidance for staff and reporters in the building.

Capitol Hill is in an uproar after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ordered Capitol Police to arrest any staffer or visitor to the capitol complex who is not wearing a mask.

Republicans defied Pelosi’s order, describing her actions as a misuse of power, and not based on science.

“This is INSANE. Might as well come into my office and arrest my entire staff. We are not wearing masks,” Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) wrote on Twitter.

The founder of Shake Shack, Danny Meyer, said his Union Square Hospitality Group will require indoor diners and drinkers at its restaurants to show that they’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Employees will also have to get the vaccine, Meyer said, although he didn’t say whether they would be fired or be forced to wear masks.

Anyone who does not attest to being fully vaccinated will be required to wear a mask on the job no matter their geographic location, physically distance from all other employees and visitors, comply with a weekly or twice weekly screening testing requirement, and be subject to restrictions on official travel," the White House released in a fact sheet shortly before the announcement.

"The federal government employs more than 4 million Americans, including over 2 million in the federal civilian workforce, throughout our country and across the world. These rules should not only apply to federal workers and onsite contractors. President Biden is directing his team to take steps to apply similar standards to all federal contractors. The Administration will encourage employers across the private sector to follow this strong model."

Biden is also instructing the Department of Defense to mandate the vaccine for the U.S. military.

"Today, the President will announce that he is directing the Department of Defense to look into how and when they will add COVID-19 vaccination to the list of required vaccinations for members of the military," the White House released.

Sheba’s Schwartz, a tropical disease expert, recently told the Post that he has new proof that ivermectin, which has been used to fight parasites in third-world countries, could help reduce the length of infection for people who contract coronavirus.

Last week, he completed a double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 100 people with mild-to-moderate cases of COVID-19 that tested whether ivermectin could shorten the viral shedding period, allowing them to test negative for coronavirus and leave isolation in only a few days.

According to his still unpublished data, Schwartz said, the drug was shown to help “cure” people of the virus within just six days. Moreover, the chances of testing negative for coronavirus were three times higher for the group that received ivermectin than the placebo, he said.

“From a public health point of view, the majority of patients with corona are mild cases, and 90% of these people are isolated outside of the hospital,” Schwartz said. “If you have any kind of drug that can shorten the duration of the infectiousness of these patients, that would be dramatic, as then they will not infect others.”

Moreover, instead of isolating for a minimum of 10 days and maybe more, this period could be shortened, benefiting the economy.

Schwartz’s study did not focus on whether ivermectin could prevent deterioration and hospitalization, but he said that the results indicate it is likely to have an effect.
He met this week with the Health Ministry, and is also preparing the data for submission for peer review and review by the FDA.

Since April, there have been many trials and analyses suggesting the effectiveness of ivermectin against the novel coronavirus. But only a handful have been conducted effectively as double-blind, placebo-controlled tests such as Schwartz’s, which led the National Institutes of Health to say last week that there is still insufficient data to recommend either for or against the use of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19.

However, Schwartz said that because ivermectin is already FDA-approved for other indications and its safety is well known, once those studies are completed it is likely to achieve authorization. He said he hopes his new study will “be a cornerstone to get this permission.”

Israel Becomes First Country In World To Push 3rd COVID Shot For Already Vaccinated

In what's a likely sign of things to come elsewhere, Israel is now pushing a third jab, or follow-up booster for those who've already received their two vaccine rounds, for the elderly people over the age of 60.

Israel's prominent Haaretz newspaper revealed Thursday the country will be the first in the world to start doing so after government approval, writing that Israel "will start offering a third COVID vaccine shot to people over 60 starting on Sunday, after the Health Ministry approved the move on Thursday."

"The booster shots will be given to those over 60 who received their second dose at least five months ago. Israel is the first country to announce that it will begin giving booster shots," the report says.

Israeli President Naftali Bennet unveiled the plan to the nation in a televised address:

"I’m announcing this evening the beginning of the campaign to receive the booster vaccine, the third vaccine," Bennett said.

"Reality proves the vaccines are safe. Reality also proves the vaccines protects from severe morbidity and death. And like the flu vaccine that needs to be renewed from time to time, it is the same in this case."

Recent reports have indicated internal health ministry disagreement on whether the third jab program should start for vaccinated people 60 years old, 65 or 70. The rationale is that the elderly are considered to have weaker immune systems compared to the broader population.

Some 60% of Israel's total population has been vaccinated. The third round of a Pfizer-BioNTech shot is also in response to fears that the vaccine's effectiveness is waning the face of the delta variant's spread. Within the eligible age group, those that received their second dose at least five months ago have access to the booster.

Some are already calling for a "different vaccine" altogether to fight delta and other variants...

Recently Israel's health ministry boasted that the two-dose vaccine is 91% effective against severe illness and 88% effective against hospitalization, but again it appears that officials are concerned the effectiveness is being reduced especially in the elderly population. Likely it's now only a matter of time before this extends to the broader, younger demographic as well.

From the start, many among the 'vaccine hesitant' or skeptical argued that the groundwork is being laid to eventually administer the COVID-19 jab with the regularity of an annual flu shot. This prediction appears to slowly be coming to fruition, particularly given Bennet's word choice in announcing approval of the third jab... "like the flu vaccine that needs to be renewed from time to time," he said.
