The data seems like it would be available. Just not being released to stir the panic?

I think you might be trying to oversimplify things.

How accurately can they predict when it’s going to rain 12 mm/hr where you are in 3 weeks? 2 weeks? Probably not very accurately. And, what would you do different if they told you you had a 50% chance of getting Covid with whatever margin of error?

Nobody knows.

Is the media hyping things up? That I think we can predict with certainty. Smile it’s how they make money.

We are all more likely to die of something other than Covid.

Speaking of predicting the weather, Wunderground has compiled the CDC & state health agency data - at least you don't have to go to 50 different state sites.

Removed link - I've noticed that it's not updating IN, so not sure what other data is broken.

(not sure if I missed this being mentioned)
One of our city citizens has sued the city .gov and the mayor for ordering all non-essential businesses to close.

Overall, while I think it might makes sense to socially distance I think the legality is questionable to close businesses and limit travel.

My wife thinks this guys is stupid and wasting everyone's time but I think someone should be questioning these ordinances.

But I am certainly not a constitution scholar by any means.

This is a useful site although its data, not surprisingly, lags other sources a bit. Click on your state to see the breakout by county.

I was simply saying that he's stating the blatantly obvious.

Of course closing schools, closing restaurants, shutting down the entire economy would slow the spread of the Wuhan. The spread of every single disease on the entire planet has been slowed down in the past three weeks. Who the hell would think otherwise?

OK. Yeah... as a result of this one of the "unintended effects" is a drastic decrease in the number of murders in St. Louis City, compared to last year. Also, there are rapidly falling regular flu numbers compared to previously.

But I'm glad to see things are improving in Washington State. They are probably a couple of weeks ahead of most of us on this. Like you, I hope that things open up sooner rather than later.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Northam issues shelter in place order for next 2.5 MONTHS.

That's a little excessive one might think. Could have said 30 days then revaluate or pretty much anything else but what was issues. Why is 6/9 so much more dangerous than 6/11?

My personal opinion is (a) the likelihood of contracting the virus is based much more on your habits then your geography. Are you sheltered in place? Are you sanitizing regularly, in the home and out? Who are you physically engaging with?. . and (b) I don't think one can predict, except the other health issues can/will be worsened, and blood type looks to play a part.

Lastly, I'd argue organizations are not withholding data in order to create more panic. Sure there have been missteps, over-reactions, etc. But I will say I think everyone wants to same outcome - less panic, less cases. . people want this done with.

Tom Wolf apparently just closed all PA schools indefinitely.

I'm waiting for confirmation, but I don't think we were expecting this. Just this morning, we were having a meeting and were running on the assumption that we'd be back with the kids by the end of April, though likely not mid-April, as we had initially hoped.

One more reason I fucking hate Tom Wolf.

I've already mentioned what I believe will happen if they try and lock people down for 3-4 weeks+ .

It may be no big deal if you have a big family and live in a lake or wooded area that you can play in/on. If you're single, live alone, in a city, with no one to interact with, that type of confinement is a very different story.

Wow.

Shelter-in-place is rather extreme. Is there an actual technical difference between a stay-at-home directive and a shelter-in-place order? Currently Utah is the former and only for two weeks.

Yeah, all these states will soon be begging the Feds for another trillion or two dollars.

Pretty clear that’s what it’s all about. This whole scenario is a liberal Governor’s wet dream come true.

Well, it's official. I tested positive for coronavirus. Today marks the first day I haven't required any fever reducer, so I'm at the end of it already. The worst was a week ago when I was miserable and immobile.

The good news is that once I'm done with this, I'll be immune. My symptoms only got better every day.
