My guess is the wives and children provide a good amount of the labor doing the digging. We all know what high regard that culture places on women and children. "Fixed fortifications are monuments to mans stupidity" - George S. Patton

US Warplanes Conduct Major Strikes On 'Iranian Proxies' In Syria https://www.zerohedge.com/geop...s-500-hamas-fighters In the overnight and early morning hours in Syria (local time), US forces carried out airstrikes on what it said are Iran-linked militants and installations in eastern Syria. Multiple targets have been hit. According to a statement by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, "Today, at President Biden’s direction, U.S. military forces conducted self-defense strikes on two facilities in eastern Syria used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups." The attacks were reportedly done by US warplanes, likely operating out of either the Gulf or Mediterranean areas where new US naval assets have recently been positioned, keeping a watch on fast moving events in Gaza. Fox issued the following breaking detail: F-16s and F-15s were used to strike targets in Syria earlier tonight in retaliation for the attacks on US troops in the region. Huh? 15, 16, 18, just a bunch of random numbers.

Well, if the report is correct in stating F-15's and F-16's then it wasn't Navy. But we all know the press, in large part, doesn't know these aircraft from their ass.

This isn't a video game or a movie, and you guys really should stop and think about the consequences of what you're wishing for.

Given the history of the Holocaust, that would be a bit ironic. Demand not that events should happen as you wish; but wish them to happen as they do happen, and you will go on well. -Epictetus

A bit? I don't know how the irony of what they were posting didn't strike a few different members here dead. Hydrogen is dirt cheap and so was rat poison. Holy shit, guys. I have more I'd like to say, but I won't. We need to be extremely careful about dehumanizing people, because I can't think of a single example among the vile horrors of WWII that wasn't preceded by conditioning the populace to believe that the various enemy factions both at home and abroad were subhumans of some sort. I think Israel is right to wage war on their enemies, but they need to be real careful about how they do it. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

The overnight US airstrike is disproportionate to the nearly 20 attacks from Iran on US forces. We've had personnel hurt directly by Iran and instead, we go to Syria and bomb a munitions depot and a SAM sight, IIRC. I think the president or his press secretary said our red line was hurt US personnel. Well, we gave them a token response. An administration of appeasement and the sad part is that Iran knows and is taking advantage of it.

Why does Isreal need to be real careful about it? I don't recall the US having to be real careful about it in Iraq or Afghanistan. I'm sure we killed many, many thousands of innocent people during those wars. While I don't want to see the wholesale slaughter of innocent people it happens in war. We fire bombed Japan and Germany, have you seen pictures of any warzone? Maybe if they ask Hamas really nicely not do any more terrorism they'll say yes? As much as the word existential threat is causally tossed around, Hamas does pose an existential threat to Isreal. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

Absolutely correct. Further, who the fuck thinks they can just send fighters and bombers around to do shit. What the hell. We literally have a process for going to war that these assholes have been skirting for decades. “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. In my defense, I was discussing tactics to attack the tunnels, not gassing the population. But as has been pointed out, hydrogen is probably too light. I think my original suggestion of methane is still feasible. Although I don't think it would necessarily breach a reinforced bulk head. Regarding rat poison, I didn't see that and I'm not sure how it would be used. God Bless and Protect President Donald John Trump. VOTE EARLY TO BEAT THE CHEAT!!!

Instead of pumping in a gas, why not just fill the tunnels with sea water? It's free, it will find the lowest point and the water is highly corrosive. Should render most weapons useless or very rusty.

As discussed on p39 of this thread. An advantage of flooding with water, is it takes days to fill the tunnel, giving as many in the tunnel that want to surrender plenty of time and warning to do so. Explosive/poisonous gases afford little to no possibility to give up. True, Hamas is very unlikely to do so, but when the water reaches their lower lip, they might start thinking about it. After that, they have been afforded all opportunity, and the end result is by their conscious choice. Hostages, unfortunately, will have no choice. But then again, they don't have any choice under any scenario. The only hope for them is ground forces entering the tunnels and rescuing them. I'm not a tunnel rat, but that does not seem too promising, either. This space intentionally left blank.

Exactly and they didn’t come from the Med or the Gulf. The other articles I’ve read said it was two Air Force F-16s. Given the targets were in Syria, I’d guess the planes came from Turkey.
