At some point Israel will need to ignore what the rest of the world thinks and do what must be done to survive. Is that point passed? I hope so. Sometimes the right thing to do, while terrible, is the least destructive thing overall. I could give an example but I think the principle speaks for itself.

Melting ice caps causing sea level rise.

Since the Mediterranean is connected to the world’s oceans Israel can single-hardly solve this problem with their plan to sequester the extra sea water deep in underground tunnels and rooms under Gaza. They have additional space in the West Bank and Lebanon.

It works just like “carbon sequestration.”

If anyone is looking for a public awareness project, here you go. I just came up with this.
Feel free to make your own variation and print some stickers for some guerrilla street art.

sad news

IDF accidentally kills three Israeli hostages in Gaza

The killed hostages were identified by the IDF as Yotam Haim and Samer Talalka, both of whom were kidnapped during the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks in Israel. The third abductee's name was not revealed.

"During the fighting in Shejaiya, an IDF force mistakenly identified three Israeli hostages as a threat," IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said. "As a result the force fired at them and they were killed. During a scan and inspection of the area of the incident, a suspicion arose regarding the identity of the dead. The bodies were taken for examination in Israeli territory, after which it turned out that they were three Israeli abductees."

In fighting like this in a bombed out city, there is always a chance this friendly fire may happen. I suspect it has been much more common in wars than was ever reported

No matter what, but for Hamas taking hostages, whose wouldn't have happened. Not matter what, Hamas is at fault and responsible.

Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror organizations said Saturday evening that they would not agree to release further Israeli hostages until a complete and total ceasefire — effectively demanding that Israel abandon the war and accept defeat.

Hamas said in a statement quoted by the Abu Ali Express channel on Telegram: “Hamas emphasizes that its position is that there will be no negotiations for a prisoner release deal until the aggression against our people ceases completely. Hamas announced this position to all mediators.”

Palestinian Islamic Jihad said: “We are ready for a prisoner exchange deal only after a ceasefire and we stand by this condition.”

The hard-line position taken by the two Iranian-controlled terror organizations will be impossible for Israel to accept, and will make attempts by the United States to urge a new “pause” in fighting impossible.

Palestinian media channels have focused in the past 24 hours on the demonstrations in Israel by families and supporters of the hostages, who reacted with anguish and anger to the news that Israel had accidentally killed three hostages in Gaza on Friday.

It would seem that the Palestinian terror organizations interpreted Israel’s internal turmoil as a sign that it could exploit the event to end the war and prevent Israel from achieving its objectives — while still holding over 125 hostages to bargain for concessions.

News of Hamas’s response came shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other members of his government held a press conference in which they discussed the tragedy and promised to continue pursuing the war until Hamas had been destroyed.

The Israeli government had also reportedly sent the head of the Mossad spy agency to Europe to meet with a Qatari representative to gauge the possibility of new talks to release hostages, but the terrorists’ stance has effectively shut the door.

That's probably good news for the Israeli's for now.
Gives them some cover for continuing to hunt down the leaders and get as many of the others above the foot soldier level which is what they need to get done.
Even then, it won't be any sort of permanent solution as there's always another group ready to step up.

And that is the best reason that the citizens of Israel should absolutely demand that they have every right to have the means to protect themselves no matter what.
Being disarmed by their own government puts them at the mercy of their attackers.
Would you rather have the means to defend yourself, your family, your neighbors or take your chance once you are kidnapped if by some chance you were not murdered first.

And as we know. This is not some far fetched what if scenario.

The Israeli's absolutely could of thwarted much of the carnage that happened to them had they had the ability to defend themselves.

Had Israeli citizens been armed the same way most of the citizens here in the US are armed this most likely would have never taken place. Hamas are cowards they never would have crossed the border knowing they would have been met instantly by armed citizens. They would have been happy to continue with lobbing firecrackers over the border from a safe distance. If we are ever stripped of our guns and rights to own them we will suffer a similar fate.
