Deer heart. Most hunters I know will leave it in the field with the rest of the organs. Not me! If it's not damaged I take it home! That's why I carry ziploc bags with me when I hunt. ----------------------- You can't fall off the floor.

Love pickled beets. Don’t know where I’d get them, ours were always from the basement storage. My mom did a lot of pickling and canning. __________________________ "Trust, but verify."

My parents made pickled beets and they were delicious. Never really thought of them as odd more of a rare delicacy. ____________________________________________________ The butcher with the sharpest knife has the warmest heart.

Nyama choma, Kenyan grilled goat is fantastic, why we don't eat goat here is beyond me. Lutefisk and lefsa, outside of the many Sons of Norway meetings I've attended and when I lived in Norway, have no idea how to get some of this goodness. Ndagala , tiny silver fish, that they deep fry in Burundi as an appetizer, absolutely brilliant. Muktuk, beluga fat with skin is surprisingly good. Small birds like field pigeon, quail, and puffin. A whole plate piled with grilled small birds is an afternoon well spent. Any African antelope, highly recommend wildebeest, springbok, Thompson gazelle, and especially kudu. _____________________________ Off finding Galt's Gulch

Alea iacta est |
Once a year, about this time if year, in Aberdeen WA. There is a whole lutefisk festival. It’s kind of a big deal I guess. Wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected it to be. The “lol” thread

Yes, I do both of these. For those who don't know, Japanese natto is fermented soybeans. It resembles vomit, and the taste is not far off either. And yet I eat it. Beef tendon stew uses parts most people throw away. Weird taste and texture, but it's supposed to be very good for your own tendons, so I order it when I can. Usually I'm the only one eating it.
