Can't agree there - one of the main reasons I got a Gen 1 despite the issues is I much prefer the Sig hand guard over keymod.

Help a fellow out here, what does all this mean?

This is the SBR that gives me the functionality and look that I had desired from the MPX, since its inception. Although I do own the "crown jewel" telescoping stock, I think the "Kate Moss" folder suits the 4.5in (k) style variant better. Amazingly, it is very comfortable and ergonomic to shoulder extended or hand-hold as pictured. My support hand fits nicely to hold the magwell/magazine like a vetrical grip, and my thumb can naturally rest on the light pad switch.

Standard 8" Gen1 pistol
barrel and handguard were cut to replicate the 4.5" (k) model, refinished and threaded, all by ZR Tactical
20rd Gen1 magazine
Viridian X5L-RS Light/Green Laser combo
STOCK-X-FOLD-THIN-BLK

No more bickering or holding my breath waiting for SIG to release inventory anymore for me. Project finished. Now, I will follow this battle from the sidelines.

This is kinda what I had in mind too. Very nice.

I am referring to the hand guard. Armedjetflyer, in addition to having a lovely MPX, has the Gen 1 hand guard that I prefer for aesthetics reasons over the Gen 2 hand guards which do not have the raised squares, instead having a flat side with keypad holes cut out. Hard to describe unless you've seen it, but there are plenty of pics in this thread and Google if you look up Sig MPX Gen 2.

Cleverly for SIG, I don't think the "keymod" handguard can be cut to a desired length, without leaving sharp edges.

The Gen1 Picatinny can be sized by just counting the side "squares" desired, leaving a perfectly finished edge all the way around. Mine was cut at #6, just like the advertisement photos of the anticipated (K) model.

Maybe a Gen1 owner finally has an advantage(only with regard to this modification)!

No glass optics.

The green laser/light/iron sights combo provide my CQB target aquisition needs.

Once your back-order item ships... be patient. SIG uses FedEx SmartPost.

It can take up to 10 days for your package to be delivered by your USPS Letter Carrier. The tracking update info is spotty too. My shipment sat somewhere on the East Coast in limbo for many days before it was scanned further along in transit. SmartPost makes a mockery of the FedEx brand name and its usual efficiency. It is not regular the "FedEx", but a low cost division that has teamed up with the USPS to provide budget shipping.

For most of us, this entire MPX debacle has been an emotional rollercoaster. Gladly, when your stock arrives, you experience a small adrenaline dump now that the ordeal is over!

And, by using the troublesome SmartPost delivery... SIG gets the "last laugh"!

I got that level of service, too. Order date for some MPX Mags off their site said arrival "scheduled" for Dec 24th. then Christmas came and it updated to being in SLC and "Scheduled for Dec 29th." and when that didn't happen, I inquired and they said the severe weather in the midwest was causing a lot of issues. the package was literally less than an hour from my house and they blamed the weather in Arkansas. It was then scheduled for and finally delivered Jan 2 by USPS.

If you have an extra $1,000 laying around the new Rugged Obsidian 45 is out and initial reviews have been good. They are saying it is the quietest on the market.... :')

Awesome! Please give a full report in 5 months. I really want one but with the Octane 45 and Osprey 45 already, and Ti-Rant 9 coming, I just can't justify it to myself at the moment. Although that justification could be just a couple Budlights away.... :")

I've been watching from the sidelines for most of this. Armed with the knowledge from this thread,I bought the first gen 2 I could find. Neat firearm. Got a stamp, put my stock on order. Today I got it...

Is anyone else really disappointed by the mcx/mpx collapsible stock that is shipping in place of the MPX one? It's like an aftermarket accessory that was made to fit multiple models, it doesn't really have the fit I expected. I'll be on the phone with sig in the AM...probably try to order the side folder.

I thought I learned it all from this thread and could avoid disappointment, but this is yet another twist in the story.

So did Sig completely discontinue the MPX specific collapsible stock?

I wonder if when I'm ready to make a purchase I would be better off buying a Carbine and the swapping barrels and handguard later when I'm ready to SBR.

Althoug, if Sig makes a gen2 factory SBR available I may go that route.

I wish the struts on my MCX/MPX were longer but I think that's all that they changed. It's pretty solid, just a little short and the button can be a little finicky at times...

Got my new charging handle today and installed it tonight, for me a big improvement, doesn't drop like the original, and fits nicely
