Rant of the day… Stopped into a hole in the wall liquor store in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin. Chatted with the clerk for a while and asked if they happen to have any Blantons or Buffalo trace available, he replied “yeah, the boss has rows and rows of both of them upstairs in the locked room, I don’t know why she never puts them out”. Seriously this is the only liquor store for miles, in a population of about 13, and this place has cases of Blantons and Buffalo trace hidden away. ___________________________ All it takes...is all you got. ____________________________ For those who have fought for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

the owner called the clerk while I was talking to him, and he actually asked if he could sell me a bottle. The owner claimed she had the only key. My guess is you are right, she is telling that shit online. ___________________________ All it takes...is all you got. ____________________________ For those who have fought for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

There are always those places that are more like bourbon museums that stores. Charge $160 for a bottle of Blanton's and $1000 for Old Rip Van Winkle. Sad thing is, someone will always stumble along and be willing to pay that. I can proudly say I've never spent over $100 for a bottle of bourbon. Could have bought a Russell's 13 year for $170 and almost did but I can get decent enough bottles and not break the bank. Let someone else enjoy it.

Our neighborhood bar has a better selection of Buffalo Trace created bourbons than most of the high-end joints in town… IMG_3217 ___________________________ All it takes...is all you got. ____________________________ For those who have fought for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

I finished two bottles of Weller 12 Yr. The bitter aftertaste was excessive. The new higher price is also excessive. I tried Stagg for the first time, I think I prefer that over the Blantons. ___________________________ All it takes...is all you got. ____________________________ For those who have fought for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

I don’t get the bitter aftertaste on my Weller 12 year. My local place still sells at retail. I think it was $69. That being said I think I prefer the Stagg over the Weller 12 year. Different pours considering one is 90 proof and the other is 127. The Weller Antique 107 is still probably My favorite.

Just got a bottle of Antique 107. I went secondary but not a huge price. Local guy. Paid right about what I’ve paid retail for my Full Proof. I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

Michters American is a favorite of mine and I really enjoy the rye too (it’s a low rye rye and makes a great old fashioned). This message has been edited. Last edited by: x0225095, 0:01

I'm surprised this thread has been dormant this long. Someone has to be scoring some good bottles out there. I was in South Dakota in Mid-March and scored me a bottle of John J. Bowman Single Barrel which you can never find in MN. I'll share this one with a buddy of mine that is also a Bowman fan. I also picked up a High West Cask Strength which was finished in Cabernet Sauvignon Barrels. Some are not fond of finished whiskeys but I find this one to be quite good compared to others and I'm enjoying it. I see it all over in MN now. I was also able to get my hands on a bottle of James E. Pepper Barrel Proof a little while back. My two buddies I was with have since opened theirs said it is one of their favorites they've bought recently. Once I get a couple of my open bottles finished off this will be one of the next ones to be opened. It sounds rather good. I was in Louisiana a couple of weeks ago and saw Blantons, Buffalo Trace and some other high end BT bottles but I was not willing to shell out the asking prices of the bottles and I have a small stash of BT, Eagle Rare, EH Taylor to hold me for awhile. Anyone else finding anything good?

I’m sipping on the latest Larceny Barrel Proof A124 batch from my local shop. It’s excellent and one of the best values in all of the bourbon world. I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

I like US 1 Bourbon. It’s about $45 around here, and I’ll pay that. _______________________________________________________ despite them

Have been enjoying some ASW toasted Bourbon and Rye, they make some really great stuff. Did a tour of the Woodford Distillery last week Where the magic happens Look closely, $15,000 It was a good tour, the only unique bottle they had available (besides the $15k one) was a small batch double oaked that I picked up, haven't tried it yet On the way out I stopped the the BT distillery and they had EH Taylor small batch for $45, one per person, so I had the wife buy one as well I have been on the Ambassador tour of Makers, Jim Beam and now Woodford. Jim Beam was my favorite one so far We were up there to meet my folks and visit the Creation museum and the Ark but that's for a different conversation, I'll just say

One of these days I need to save up a whole bunch of money and hit the bourbon trail and shop bourbon in Kentucky. I can usually get my hands on some really good stuff but it would still be fun to experience it and go through some of the distilleries and their gift shops.

Picked me up a bottle of the 2024 Russell's Reserve Private Barrel Selection Friday afternoon. I really enjoy the 10yr and the Single Barrel so I'm hoping this one is a step above the other 2.

I am no expert like you guys. But the local speakeasy had this for $20/ounce. I thought it was pretty good. In a post way back in 2015 someone had found it for $70/bottle. Not so today. These go to eleven.

A buddy was able to get a hold of a bottle of the 12yr Van Winkle for $100 a couple of months ago and he brought it on our last trip and he gave me a couple of pours. I enjoyed it and would pay $100 for it but every bottle I've come across they are always asking around $1899 for it.
