Daughter and SIL came to visit from Ann Arbor. They are looking for a place to live, as SIL has accepted a position here in Cincy.

Anyway, they brought me an early Bday present.

They scored Blantons and ER at Meijer in Ann Arbor.

Happy, Happy, Happy!!!

I have just recently discovered Buffalo Trace bourbon. Over ice, it is a very mellow and smooth drinking bourbon. It has found a permanent home in my back bar.......and it is very reasonably priced!!

Steve, when you need a refill on Blanton's let me know. I would be more than happy to send a bottle your way.

Thank you much!

I plan to take your bottle of Lost Horse with me, when we go to Kelleys Island for Thanksgiving.

I found both Blantons and Weller SR in a local store today. Both marked up but I wanted one for a gift. I’m about to crack the Weller open though. I also had a sample of JW Blue Label today. I would not buy a bottle at the current pricing but it was nice to finally know what it tastes like.

I enjoy the Weller Special Reserve. Hope you enjoy it. Kind of a fun time of year as allocated bottles are hitting shelves. I had a guy pick me up a bottle of Stagg Jr. I guess it’s just Stagg now but I’m sentimental.

For you “Irish Cream” fans;

2 Cans of “Eagle” brand condensed milk
2 quarts of “half & half”
2of Kahlua
2 tablespoons instant coffee
750ml of either Whiskey or Bourbon. (I used Makers)

You can hate me later Wink

I won a raffle for the chance to purchase a Michters 10, which I did.

I plan to add it to my 10 year blind tasting. Pretty high expectations, based on the MSRP.

Had a couple Makers Old Fashioned at our company Christmas party, first I'd had Makers [Woodford or Bulleit] are my goto.
Quite good.

My "other brother" gave me a bottle of Buffalo Trace this morning, from his visit out there last fall.

I'm looking forward to opening it tomorrow.

God bless America.

Merry Christmas

Each year I try to open something special to share with family and friends both during the holidays and throughout the year.

Last year was the Handy. After the bottle was opened and aerated it was significantly better months after the holidays.

This year will be a Weller full proof.

LOL - I need to move to Arizona. Year ago I used to buy B.T by the case and use it for my barrel aged old-fashioned recipe. Today? It sits among the allocated labels I need to enter drawing for or find on the shelf for well over $50/bottle.

BT has been removed from allocation and should be more available than years past. I see it much more often and frequently here in FL and it used to be held in allocation purgatory.

I am pretty sure the last bottle I purchased at Total Wine and More was $24.00 for 750ml.

Nice! I got a bottle of Full Proof at Christmas last year but didn’t crack it, then I was able to get another in October so I popped one. I like it a lot but I’m a big fan of wheaters.

I recently got a bottle of EC Toasted Barrel and it is kinda hard to drink. Not a fan from my original tasting but need to give it another shot.

The Weller was really good, I’m not a wheater fan and in fact I think it’s better than Pappy 12 yr Lot B.

At 114 proof it’s not crazy hot and just a bit of water made it perfect.

Thanks to my Children, I have a barrel pick BT and another bottle of Eagle Rare, which is my favorite Bourbon.

Anyone else receive a bottle for Christmas?

P-220 I hope you enjoy that Eagle Rare. It is a great pour. My local place put out a case of Stagg on Christmas Eve and I was able to pick one up for MSRP. The next week I was able to snag a Weller 107, Weller 12 year and Henry McKenna Bottle in Bond. Supporting the local places that don't charge huge money for allocated is where it's at.

I was able, just before Christmas, to grab a bottle of Henry McKenna 10yo 100 proof. That stuff does not exist in my part of the Country these days. That is the first bottle I have seen for sale in these parts in 4-5 years. It was pricy, but it is mine!!!
