Between the locked breech, and the dual recoil spring assembly, the early reports have it as extremely mild in recoil. I already have it earmarked as the pistol I'll be teaching my wife with when time permits after she gives birth to our son in a few months. She warmed to the Colt 1908 pocket hammerless because it fit her hand, whereas she couldn't properly get a grip on the G19. Frame was too big, but the Colt was just right. I'd rather outfit her with a G42 for a first-time carry gun, honestly. Hell, I may very well get two, one for both of us. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

The new Glock 380 is big? Handled one today at a LGS. That is a fucking tiny gun. Pocket gun easy. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Put it next to a Kahr P380 or a keltec p3at.

Thats what I'm talkin' about Nismo... Just because one can shove it in a pocket, doesn't make it a practical pocket pistol.. My LCP, perfect sized pocket pistol.. My Kahr CM9, just a little to big to hide in a rear jeans back pocket without it sticking out..

From my perspective there's no question about that. But in terms of the actual dimensions- some of us just cannot pocket carry something the size of the P/CM9. So when the issue comes down to something you need to be able to conceal with absolute certainty, sacrificing some measure of "shootability" is necessary. ____________ Μολὼν Λαβέ 01 03 04 14 16 18

You can still conceal something the size of a G42 or Kahr (fillintheblank) with absolute certainty. I met up with a friend last summer who's an LEO in Long Island. He had a Kahr K9 in an IWB holster and he's all of 5' 6" and 130lbs soaking wet. I generally know what to look for and had no idea he was carrying, and he was just wearing jeans and a t-shirt. It can be done with those smaller pistols. Hell, I'm a big guy and even I can't carry my Browning .25 in my jean pockets without printing like a mofo, even though it fits and is in a pocket holster, it looks like I've got a very oddly-shaped wallet in my pocket. Pocket carry isn't necessarily the best deep-concealment option, and so I can't see that as "The" yardstick for how big or small a pistol has to be to be concealable. I IWB my G19 and it conceals quite well. A similar gun in a smaller form factor can only perform as well as, or better than in that department. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

Yes- I can and do conceal my Kahrs with an IWB tucked, or my Glock 26 OWB with a cover shirt or jacket- no problem. But when it comes to pocket carry (which is what I thought we were referring to), it's the LCP or nothing for me. Many times I see people mention pocket carrying their Shields, or 26's or even 19's. If you can do that, more power to you. I wish I could. ____________ Μολὼν Λαβέ 01 03 04 14 16 18

I still think these things are bugs or for women who have small hands and/or due to the way they dress, need something small. I would never consider any of them for primary carry at any time of the year. Great for a walk or a 5 min trip to the store however. But if getting dressed then I'd rather rig up and carry something I can fight with if need be. A primary concealed weapon should be something that you can shoot an awful lot (drills, training, etc) and should be your #1 range gun. When they make a 9mm it will be a great bug. What am I doing? Ah, yeah. Fair enough. I've also read of people pocket carrying 26's but the only person I met who actually did so was quite an enormous fellow and wore jeans that would fit your average Indian elephant. He could have pocket carried a Desert Eagle. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

Well I fondled Glocks for the first time today. Held a 27 and a 23. I don't know. It seemed like the trigger guard rubbed the middle finger weird. But I took the first step and held one ,actually two. I'm really wanting to like them because so many folks sing their praises.

I have that feeling with mine, a G19 that I've owned 15 years. But not when I actually shoot it. In fact, it is comfortable to shoot all day if I could afford the ammo. I actually wear myself out more loading the magazines with my fingers (before I got an Uplula loader, that is). Try renting one if you have such a range near you. This message has been edited. I liked the G42. I consider it a thinner J frame. It will shoot softer and be easier to reload if you ever have the need. It is def larger than the P or CW 380 by a lot.. I own both Kahr and Glock.. but for a smaller hideout the Kahr 380 is def smaller..

Yep I took the plunge first a used Glock 23 (3rd Gen) about 6 months ago. Now a new 3rd Gen Glock 19. We the unappreciated must do the unimaginable and see the unthinkable to protect the ungrateful
