Ticker on ABC news this morning while I was at the gym stated Trumps lead is "shrinking" to Carson ahead of debates. Based upon what I have read here I had to wonder if Carson gained a half a point and that was the "shrinkage" with Trump still a solid 15 points ahead.

Seems to me that the media is getting desperate and the spin is getting thicker.

They believe that they can shape what is happening, not merely report on it. So, in their minds, if they say Trump is fading, Carson is surging, people will drift away from Trump and move to the one who is surging.

It won't work because too many of us know that we need a Trump, not a really nice man. Washington is corrupt, and the corruption is entrenched. It will eat Carson in one bite and not even burp.

Trump has a tremendous opportunity tonight.

He will probably be aggressively attacked by several of the other candidates. If he stays cool and has solid positions, he could look presidential while the others look like whiners.

I hate most of the surprise gotcha questions. No one person has the capacity to know everything necessary to make all the difficult decisions over such a wide scope of issues.

But the president has dozens to hundreds of specialists who prepare briefing papers, options, and recommendations. As chief executive in the most complex executive position in the world, the president has to sort through the options, dialog with his advisors, and make the final decision.

Trump will *for sure* be attacked tonight-- by the other candidates and -- only slightly more subtly-- by the questioners. If he remains cool-- he can be sarcastic and even mocking-- but, as you say, cool-- he will look like the leader we need to an increasing number of Americans.

Yes, the guy is not stupid, so if he can refrain from taking the bait, he should come off looking good.

I think people are so fed up that they want a no bullshit nuke and pave of DC, the only option for that is Trump. Regardless of where he stands on any issue, and irregardless of the fact that said position may change tomorrow, there is little doubt that he is going to totally detonate both establishments. That is why people are loving him right now.

I see Trumps message as this, F everything, clean up our financial books, ditch the illegals who are sucking us dry and kill those that want to kill us. I'm down with that.

Yeah, and I love the ad campaigns showing some 20 year old interview of Trump, with the idea being that he is now contradicting himself.

That shit just ain't gonna work. It's just not. Nobody freaking cares. We're fed up with the bullshit.

Oh, BTW- Page 100 Whooooo!!

Yuge debate tonight. Really yuge. The classiest, most luxurious debate ever.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

It's going to be TERRIFIC! Trump will be winning so much, he will get sick of it. I hope he wears his rope hat the whole time.

The establishment unleashes the dogs on the outsider tonight the way they won't on their dem opponent. I'm afraid an outsider cannot be the candidate, one way or another. The candidate will be a chalk walker. Both parties.

Tonight will be the night all of the establishment candidates try their hardest to bash Trump, Carson and Fiorina. The establishment is still shaking its head while looking at the polls and saying, its only a matter or time. Sorry, you have had decades to right the ship...your time is gone.

One wonders if the general election voters are going to be an enamored of Trump as the Republican primary voters (or at least the ones that are getting polled.)

I'm just amazed that the media still thinks anyone gives a rats ass about their " full analysis and commentary".

Given what happened in the first debate I won't be surprised to see Trump go after the moderators more than the other candidates if he feels the questions are skewed in order to give the others leverage to use against him.

I have not heard Carson's name mentioned once today without hearing the phrase surgeing in the polls along with it on any tv or radio commentary.
Trump has become more of a target than Hillary.
Sadly enough.

I'm amazed that the media still thinks anyone believes that they are "the media"-- reporters, journalists. Megyn Kelly? Candy Crowley? Anderson Cooper?

Really?

What time does the debate start on CNN? (I googled and binged it-- couldn't get that simple info.)

When ship or aircraft (WWII) were in peril and danger of sinking or crashing, it was necessary to toss overboard or jettison anything or everything not imperative for survival. Guns, that before you bet your life on, baggage, cargo, tools, equipment. No matter-- over it goes.

Well, in this case, the "establishment", while it may have been that which we depended upon to fight for us and we relied upon for survival, we no longer need.

You are seeing them summarily and without concern for their fate, being jettisoned and tossed overboard.

We the People... want to survive.

Then, we rebuild.
