grand jury will not meet today either

edit: the grand jury did convene today but they were not to consider charges against Donald Trump till next week.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/...d-yet-again-n2621042

regarding the 2018 ltr on previous page,

it says neither Trump Org or Trump campaign reimbursed Cohen. But the claim is that Donald Trump personally reimbursed Cohen.

adding: CNN reports that Bragg is trying to determine if he should call Michael Cohen again to refute testimony of Robert Costello.

Costello must have been quite impactful

^^^ Bragg has split his own office...
I doubt he has the votes on the grand jury.

"A Manhattan grand jury will not hear testimony, deliberate or vote on the hush-money case against former President Donald Trump Thursday," Fox News reported Thursday morning. "Since the grand jury does not sit on Fridays, a vote on the Trump case is not expected this week, according to the source."

The decision comes after reports there is turmoil inside the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and severe disagreement about bringing an indictment against the former president.

Meanwhile, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan is demanding Bragg testify on Capitol Hill about his politically charged crusade against Trump.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
-- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

This is probably a stalling tactic while Bragg looks for a way to save face while dropping the case. He'll have staff come up with a lame ass excuse, blame it all on a subordinate, or something, but there's no way he's going to win this & he's going to come out of it looking like a total ass.

I think that's exactly what it is. Also, there's no doubt whatsoever that the members of this grand jury are, on their own time, following this story in the news media. CNN, MSNBC, et al, their reaction is no surprise, but when they tune in to Fox, they get to hear things like Alan Dershowitz saying that this is the weakest case he has ever seen. They get to hear the flaws in the logic of even impaneling a grand jury for this "case". Bragg may not even have the opportunity to charge or decline to charge Donald Trump and he knows it.

I wouldn't be surprised if this criminal-loving fool Bragg drags this out until next week but, yes, ultimately, it seems this is toast.

Is it too soon for me to get my hopes up that DJT might actually be sworn in as my president come January 2025??? That would make me happier than a tick on a coon dog!!!

Edit to add: While he SHOULD be my president right now instead of that slobbering fool in the WH, this could work out even better in the long run!

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg formally refused to cooperate with the House Republicans’ congressional investigation into “unprecedented abuse” of authority against former President Donald Trump upon the expectation the former president would be arrested this week in connection with Bragg’s investigation, Breitbart News learned Thursday.

Bragg denied providing testimony and documenters to top House Republican leadership due to “an unprecedent inquiry into a pending local prosecution,” he replied to Republicans.

On Monday, Judiciary Committee chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Oversight Committee chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY), and Administration Committee chairman Rep. Bryan Steil (R-WI) demanded Bragg comply with the committee’s request for documents and testimony in anticipation of the possible indictment.

“The Letter only came after Donald Trump created a false expectation that he would be arrested the next day and his lawyers reportedly urged you to intervene,” Bragg’s replied to Republicans. “Neither fact is a legitimate basis for congressional inquiry.”

“[T]he District Attorney is obliged by the federal and state constitutions to protect the independence of state law enforcement functions from federal interference,” he added.

Even Chuck Schumer sees the handwriting on the wall, he will not state his confidence in Alvin Bragg's case.

There are citizens of this country that will be outraged and protest if Donald Trump is not thrown in jail to rot forever. They will never sway from this position.

There are citizens in this country that will be irate and protest if Donald Trump is formally charged. They will never sway from this position.

What will be interesting is to see how many citizens that fall between those groups wake up and see what is really going on in this country at the moment.

That is correct, if nothing comes of this it backfires big time on Bragg and the D Party, being that's the likely result.

Trump walks away with a very strong case to use in the primary's against the current corrupt government, soros, bad prosecutors.

All they want is something they can use to gin up support in the far left base that will buy whatever BS they put out on DJT.

Considering this is a state issue, this is one moment where I'd might agree with this commie sack of shit telling the feds to go pound sand. Because if the roles were reversed, that's exactly the opinion I would have.

And anyway, everyone can see what a shitshow this is without congress.

NY State Grand Jurors Handbook

A grand jury has 23 members

To hear evidence, as least 16 must be present

16 jurors must be present to deliberate

12 jurors who have heard all the critical evidence must agree

All jurors who have heard the essential and critical evidence and have been provided with the instructions may vote.

so my read is this : the percentage needed to come to a given decision varies. It could 12/16 = 75% , or to the extreme of 12/23 = 52%

New York’s DA Alvin Bragg's precreated speech from next week dropping all charges on Donald J. Trump has been released.

Well worth watching.
I found it pretty funny.

Edited to add: I may have been fooled by a deep fake meme.
It sure had me fooled.
It’s very good nonetheless.

This message has been edited. Last edited by: kimber1911,

I don't know. I posited it as a possibility. Candidates for public office do it, high public officials have done it (Nixon for the Apollo XI mission), etc.

Yes and you can bet your bottom dollar that those most or all of those who are impaneled on this grand jury are aware of Dershowitz's assessment and I can't imagine that such a thing would have no influence on the vote of at least some of them.
