Local article that actually represents what we are seeing in the ER here in Alaska. I don't necessarily agree with all of the statements made in the article, but the frustration amongst our staff is real and growing.

Watching patients die of COVID-19 is taking a toll on Alaska’s hospital workers
By Lex Treinen, Alaska Public Media - Anchorage - September 13, 2021

As COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to break records in Alaska, health care workers in the state’s emergency rooms and ICUs say watching patients die is becoming routine, and it’s taking a toll on their mental health.

“The range of emotions that I go through in an ER shift now is unbelievable: anger, sadness, compassion, empathy, disappointment,” said Matthew Kinsler, an emergency room nurse at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage.

He said lately he’s taken to venting in the hospital’s supply rooms, where he’ll go to swear out loud to himself and throw things around until he’s comforted by coworkers.

At the ICU, where the sickest patients come, providers are used to losing patients, but the most recent wave of COVID deaths is unprecedented.

As of Friday, 208 people were hospitalized in Alaska with COVID-19 and 27 of them were on ventilators. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says about 50% of patients on ventilators will die.

“I’ve heard many of our therapists say, ‘I feel like a failure working in this unit, because everything I know to do doesn’t work, it doesn’t make a difference,’” said Karen Good, who oversees respiratory care at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage.

Good said it’s stressing family relationships and testing the patience of hospital workers who say that the suffering is largely preventable through vaccination.

Heidi Decaro, a respiratory technician at Providence’s ICU, said she’s had patients who don’t take COVID precautions seriously, or even deny that the coronavirus is real, even as they are dying. It’s stretching her professionalism.

“You really do have to bite your tongue, because you are a professional first of all, but you are there to help them and so you have to work on building a relationship,” she said. “Because there’s already a barrier of: This isn’t real versus this is real.”

Decaro said it’s making her more irritable at home. After losing patients — she says four patients under her care died last week — she’ll snap at her family for small annoyances.

“People are dying out there, just do the dishes!” she said. “It’s the little things.”

Decaro said ICU workers feel isolated from the rest of the city where it seems like life is going on as normal.

Doctors and nurses have publicly implored political leaders to put restrictions back in place like required masking, but the governor and Anchorage mayor have not.

“Everybody in the health care system feels helpless, because we see the end result of something that could have been preventable,” said Javid Kamali, an intensive care physician at Providence.

Kamali, 56, said that aside from seeing sicker COVID-19 patients in the hospital now, he’s also seeing younger patients.

“For the first time in my entire career, which spans about 20 years, I’ve had a whole ICU filled with patients who are younger than me,” he said. “That has never happened before”

He said unvaccinated patients in their 30s and 40s have died from COVID in recent weeks.

Hospitals have been forced to keep people being treated for COVID in emergency rooms instead of ICUs, where they could get better care. They’re being held for hours, or even days, taking up space for new patients who come in with less serious issues.

“You see your family, your loved ones, your friends, waiting in the emergency department waiting room with really bad abdominal pain, chest pain, shortness of breath — all of these awful symptoms that you’d want to get addressed immediately — are generally getting pushed to the backburner,” said Kinsler, the Alaska Regional ER nurse.

Kinsler said that ER nurses are used to stabilizing patients and moving them out of the beds. With COVID, he said, they’re forced to do a job they’re not as well trained for.

Nationwide, news outlets have reported patients dying while waiting for a bed in the ER, as the latest surge in COVID-19 cases keeps hospitals at or near capacity. When asked whether Alaska has gotten to that point, Kinsler gave an unequivocal “yes.”

“It’s there, absolutely. 100% there,” he said.

It’s especially hard to see patients come in one day, and have their parents come in a few days later and die from the disease. He said those patients often blame themselves.

“It’s pretty jacked up to say, you caused your parents to die because of the decisions that you made. But it’s an easy leap to make in the brain,” he said. “That is the most heartbreaking thing and I’ve seen it multiple times.”

One of the few comforts health care providers have is one another. They say they’re forging tighter bonds through after-work beers or hikes on days off or bringing cookies to work to share.

Good said that if nurses or technicians blame themselves for losing a patient, physicians will often round up the staff to remind them of everything they did do.

“We help each other the best we can. We bring them snacks, we sit down with them, we wipe off the tears,” said Kamali. “But that’s pretty much all we can do.”

He said there’s something the public can do to help: get vaccinated.

71 i am guessing that article is the equivalent to a pbs or cnn piece in the lower 48. I do not buy it.

I am not saying there is no covid there. But "get the poke" is as prevelent there as everywhere else. It is biased to that end. It is obvious. How about treating those folks with proven therapeutics.

And we do know that the health of Alaskans percapita is not great. Neither is healthcare.

Federal Judge blocks New York state vaccine mandate for health care workers

"The vaccine mandate is suspended," reads an order from Judge David Hurd

https://justthenews.com/govern..._campaign=newsletter

On Tuesday, a Clinton-appointed federal judge granted an emergency injunction preventing the state of New York from enforcing a Covid-19 vaccine mandate for its healthcare workers.

Former Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the healthcare worker vaccine mandate on August 16 prompting more than a dozen healthcare professionals to request a court enjoinder. The mandate requires hospitals staff and employees of long-term care facilities to be vaccinated in order to remain employed.

The suit argues that medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and medical technicians face losing their careers and livelihoods if they refuse to receive a vaccine that contradicts their religious beliefs. According to the suit, the religious beliefs of the 17 medical professionals compel them to "refuse vaccination with the available Covid-19 vaccines, all of which employ aborted fetus cell lines in their testing, development, or production."

The legal argument takes its shape under the umbrella of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Christopher Ferrara, an attorney with the Thomas More Society said that New York is attempting to "slam shut an escape hatch from an unconstitutional vaccine mandate ... They are doing this while knowing that many people have sincere religious objections to vaccines that were tested, developed, or produced with cell lines derived from aborted children."

Judge David Hurd of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York granted the temporary restraining order on the morning of September 14. "The vaccine mandate is suspended," reads his order, and the state Department of Health is "barred from taking any action, disciplinary or otherwise, against the licensure, certification, residency, admitting privileges or other professional status or qualification of any of the plaintiffs on account of their seeking or having obtained a religious exemption from mandatory Covid-19 vaccination."

Speaking of judges, when Trump issued an executive order some liberal judge issued an injuction against it within hours. Why aren't any of the federal judges that Trump appointed issuing an injuction against Bidens orders?

It does not surprise me one bit to find out that the Biden administration does not care about the lives of Texans. Everything about these commies is corrupt and about their own power.

American Airlines Turns Plane Around, Kicks Two-Year-Old Off Flight For Not Wearing Mask During Asthma Attack

https://nationalfile.com/ameri...uring-asthma-attack/

American Airlines turned around a flight and kicked off a two-year-old asthmatic boy and his mother and grandmother, because the child could not wear a face mask properly when he had an asthma attack.
Amanda Pendarvis, her two-year-old son Waylon, and her mother, were allegedly kicked off AA Flight 1284 on Monday, because Waylon, who has asthma, was having an attack and could not maintain the mask on his face properly as a result. Pendarvis described it on Instagram as the “most humiliating/traumatizing experience,” because of the actions of the flight attendant, who she named as Carl and described as “truly evil [and] power tripping.”

In upsetting footage posted to Instagram by Pendarvis, her son can be seen crying and not wanting to wear the mask due to his inability to breathe. Despite allegedly showing the American Airlines attendant his negative COVID test, and informing him that he has asthma, the flight attendant “did not care” that Waylon was “literally hyperventilating.” As a result, the plane was turned around and the family were escorted off by police officers. “I was not refusing a mask, nor did I even say I wouldn’t try to keep a mask on my son,” Pendarvis confirmed.

Despite the flight attendant announcing the incident to the whole plane, describing her son as a “non-compliant traveler,” the majority of passengers did not speak up about what was happening, she added. “There was one man behind us who was standing up to [the flight attendant] telling him how [insane and irrational] he was being,” Pendarvis wrote, adding that several other passengers mouthed “I am sorry.” (READ MORE: American Airlines Promises ‘Investigation’ After Flight Attendant Bullies Elderly Woman To Tears For Briefly Lowering Mask)

The story gained greater attention when Twitter user Tiger Lily tweeted screenshots of what Pendarvis posted on Instagram. “The only thing that covid has done to society is remove people of their compassion,” she wrote. “Hospitals making mothers give birth alone, children being taken, babies being kicked off flights, families turning against each other. I won’t make nice with these people. Not anymore.” Responses to the tweet were mostly of shock and anger, including many calls for Pendarvis to sue American Airlines.

That kind of absolute irrational, authoritarian cruelty is why I made sure that when my wife and daughters fly back to France in December that they are on an Air France operated flight and not a Delta flight. Why? Because my youngest is now 2 years old and Air France (and France as a country) does not require children under 11 years old to muzzle their faces with filthy rags for hours on end.

Making a two year old wear a mask and thinking it is a totally reasonable thing to do is about the most insane and cruel thing I have witnessed these past two years. It's also the most infuriating.

Shocking Report: Covid Spike in Ultra-Triple-Vaxxed Israel Is WHY Dear Leader Biden Enacted Medical Dictatorship

The data should be a crystal clear warning about the so-called vaccines. Instead, the evil leaders in our government are using it as the reason to double- and triple-down.

The world is backwards right now, especially when it comes to anything coming out of the White House. The vaccine mandates imposed last week, mandates that are being expanded upon this week, came about at a peculiar time. Based on literally every bit of data coming out of Israel, the most triple-vaxxed nation in the world that relies almost solely on the FDA-Sort-Of-Approved Pfizer jabs, we should be slamming on the brakes.

Instead, the Biden-Harris regime is doubling down.

A shocking report details how the waning effectiveness of the Covid-19 jabs is the reason the White House rushed through booster shots and rolled out the mandates when they did. Instead of doing the scientifically sound move of halting the vaccine push until they can determine why the drugs are failing so miserably, they are doing the politically expedient and eyebrow-raising opposite.

According to POLITICO, the White House has seen the data, which is currently unpublished, and determined that they needed to start forcing as many people as possible to get on the vaccine regimen before it is revealed that this is likely leading us to ceaseless boosters. Those who get on the jab program will be on the jab program for the rest of their lives with a likelihood of shorter and shorter intervals between treatments as the coronavirus mutates.

POLITICO frames it as if this is all about rolling out the boosters, ignoring the conspicuous timing of the vaccine mandates revealed last week. But it’s clear the sudden rush to force vaccines now was to get ahead of the news from Israel that shows they’re simply not working.

As with most articles about vaccines written by left-leaning outlets, POLITICO’s report fails to reveal the big picture. Even as they highlight the clearly duplicitous nature of the vaccine mandates, they continue to cheer them on. This is becoming more and more common to the point that nearly every story that is reluctantly reported about adverse reactions is tainted by editorializing that claims the drugs are still “safe and effective.”

It’s pure cognitive dissonance mixed with gaslighting. Keep that in mind as you read this snippet with emphasis added:

The Biden administration’s push to roll out coronavirus vaccine booster shots this month has largely been shaped by unpublished data from Israel’s vaccination campaign, according to two individuals familiar with the matter.

The Israel data, which is set to be made public as soon as this week, shows that the Pfizer vaccine’s ability to prevent severe disease and hospitalization is waning over time — as is the shot’s protection against mild and moderate disease, the two sources said. The country began administering boosters to people over 60 in July and has now expanded it to people over 30, but it has released relatively little information so far about the effect of the booster campaign.

The Biden administration has long relied on data from Israel, which has one of the highest vaccination rates in the world, to inform its Covid-19 response. Top officials from the White House, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration have analyzed the latest Israeli data for weeks, concluding that the U.S. should begin administering boosters this fall, another senior administration official said.

Although the CDC has published a series of targeted studies that suggest Covid-19 vaccines’ effectiveness against infection is decreasing, particularly in the elderly, the Israeli data is more comprehensive and more alarming, three sources who have reviewed the data told POLITICO on Monday.

The administration’s focus on Israel’s data underscores the extent to which the U.S. is leaning on other countries’ experiences to forecast the next phase of the pandemic here. That is partly because the highly contagious Delta variant swept through other parts of the world first, and partly because of better data tracking in countries like Israel that have national health care systems. The U.S. continues to struggle to collect and analyze reliable Covid-19 data because the federal government has long neglected the country’s public health infrastructure.

Senior administration officials working on the federal government’s response to the pandemic have for weeks debated whether to recommend booster shots for Americans. The White House and top health officials said in mid-August that they planned to roll out the shots for most adults beginning on Sept. 20. The move has sparked tensions between Biden’s top aides, the CDC and the FDA, amid questions about whether domestic data supported the goal. Two senior FDA vaccine scientists who are leaving the agency co-authored an analysis published Monday in the Lancet that found no evidence to support giving booster shots to the general population.

The FDA is examining the Israeli data as it reviews applications from vaccine makers to offer booster shots, three other senior administration officials said. One official stressed that no matter what the domestic or international vaccine data says, the final decision on whether to recommend boosters lies with the FDA. The agency’s vaccine advisory committee is scheduled to meet Friday to discuss Pfizer’s application for approval of its booster shot.

Asked about the extent to which the Israeli data showed vaccine efficacy waning, Biden’s chief medical adviser, Anthony Fauci, said it was “enough that you would be impressed.”

“I would be very surprised if the U.S. data don’t turn out to be ultimately very similar to the Israeli data,” Fauci told POLITICO.

Therein lies the thinking of the White House, especially people like Anthony Fauci. As Israel is in the middle of its biggest spike in Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began, Fauci sees it as impressive. This is absolutely backwards prima facie, but somehow a strong delusion has entranced the White House and much of the nation.

The effects of confirmation bias cannot be ignored. Those who have pushed the vaccines as well as those who have been vaccinated have a natural tendency to see the rosy side of bad vaccine news. Nobody wants to feel like they were conned because nobody wants to think they’re stupid for getting injected with a drug whose efficacy has been questionable from the start to protect themselves from a disease with a 99.93% recovery rate for people under 40.

Even Israel’s government, which is responsible for making themselves the most triple-vaxxed nation in the world, is looking at the data and admitting they’re disappointed. According to Times of Israel:

Health Ministry Director-General Nachman Ash said Tuesday that the current wave of coronavirus infections is surpassing anything seen in previous outbreaks and that he is disappointed that a recent downward trend appeared to be reversing.

Ash’s remarks via video call to the Knesset Constitution, Law, and Justice Committee came as Health Ministry figures showed that over 10,000 new COVID-19 cases were diagnosed the day before and that the positive test rate was climbing.

Pointing out that there is an average of 8,000 new infections each day, with occasional peaks over 10,000, he said, “That is a record that did not exist in the previous waves,” including the massive third wave at the end of last year.

Ash expressed some pessimism, though he observed that, belying fears, there wasn’t a large spike in infections following last week’s Rosh Hashanah holiday — the Jewish New Year — or the opening of the school year at the beginning of the month.

After bringing daily infections down to little more than a dozen a day in June, Israel has been battling to control a resurgence of COVID-19 in what has been its fourth wave of infections since the start of the global pandemic.

The bad news keeps rolling in for the incessant vaccine regimen. Instead of doing what science should dictate, the White House sees it as reason to push vaccines harder. What does that tell you about their motives?
