I hate hearing that shit. He proposed cutting it (Congress did not enact his suggestion). The reshuffling then takes those funds and MORE money and applies it in a different way, with a net effect of increasing finding for CDC efforts.

A relative in the local medical field told me that if they admit a COVID19 patient, they get $13K from the feds.

And if that patient goes on a ventilator, they get $39K. Just like in white collar crime investigations, follow the money. Wink Regards 18DAI

Speaking of "follow the money", just when I think that my dislike for this guy Fauci can not get any deeper....Newsweek Magazine is reporting that as head of NIH, he was responsible for giving $3.7 million of taxpayer's money to China and the very lab where all this crap started. It was not to prevent anything like this, rather to DEVELOP and study how it would spread to humans. It's hard to trust any media at all, but if true, this guy should be hung from a tree.

Rest assured that CMS will be conducting a careful audit of these cases several years down the road. Other companies will follow suit. Medical billing and coding is probably more complex than practicing medicine.

On a different note, good news from the front line in PA: "UPMC doctor argues COVID-19 not as deadly as feared, says its hospitals will shift back to normal"

This should not be a surprise. With all other profitable hospital operations shut down, they have to make money somehow.

IMHO the biggest risk now is not the collapse of hospitals under the weight of C19 patients, is financial collapse.

Dr. Yealy, UPMC
Yeah, imagine that.
quote:
A UPMC doctor on Thursday made a case the death rate for people infected with the new coronavirus may be as low as 0.25% — far lower than the mortality rates of 2-4% or even higher cited in the early days of the pandemic.

Dr. Donald Yealy based it partly on studies of levels of coronavirus antibodies detected in people in New York and California, and partly on COVID-19 deaths in the Pittsburgh region. The studies found that 5-20% of people had been exposed to the coronavirus, with many noticing only mild illness or none at all, he said.

“We’ve learned that way more people, far, far more people have actually been exposed to the infection without any knowledge of it. That makes the overall death rate much lower,” said Yealy, who is UPMC’s chair of emergency medicine. “Many people just didn’t feel sick at all and recovered without difficulty.”

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

China 'intentionally concealed the severity' of coronavirus outbreak to hoard supplies: DHS report

quote:
“During that period of time, that six-week interval when they were hiding this virus from the world, China went from a net exporter of personal protective equipment, they are the largest producer of that in the world, to a large net importer,” he said. “They basically went around and vacuumed up virtually all of the PPE around the world ... and what that did was leave people in New York, Milan, and everywhere in-between defenseless when it came time to have that PPE.”

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed elements of the DHS report on Sunday during an interview with Martha Raddatz on This Week on ABC.

Which they then turned around and sold back at a tidy profit. I recall the story of Italy buying back the PPE they had supplied to China for free when it all started.

'Divisive and disrespectful': San Francisco bars police from wearing 'thin blue line' face masks

https://www.washingtonexaminer...blue-line-face-masks

The chief of the San Francisco Police Department ordered his officers not to wear a pro-law-enforcement symbol on their face masks while on duty.

The "thin blue line" image was barred by Chief Bill Scott, according to recent emails obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle. Scott sent the email in response to several photographs showing officers wearing black masks depicting the "thin blue line" flag while working on Friday.

Scott acknowledged that the symbol was "a meaningful expression to honor fallen officers" in his eyes and for many in the department. However, he said that many find the symbol to be "divisive and disrespectful."

The chief requested that officers wear "neutral" face coverings while on duty. He noted that the department would be providing personal protective equipment to officers soon and said they will no longer be allowed to wear any other face coverings once the department is supplied.

The San Francisco Police Department union distributed many of the now-banned masks to members. The face masks included a black-and-white image of the American flag with a blue bar in the center, which is used by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial to honor fallen officers.

The "thin blue line" symbol gained popularity outside of the law enforcement community during the Black Lives Matter movement and has been considered a political statement by some since then.

Perhaps they should be banned from wearing their badges and patches and ID tags too? I'm sure those are considered offensive in the same communities.

The union should reissue masks with a big middle finger on them, front and center.

I'd like to see what San Francisco or better yet, Chicago, would look like if they had their way and there was no law or law enforcement?
We are slowly getting there...

SFPD rank n'file would be wearing PPE masks..had they been provided. The crux to this story is SF city gov, has not distributed masks to any employees claiming a shortage, thus each officer had to source their own masks for work to be in compliance with the public safety order. SF has been in SIP quarantine measures since the 16 March...nearly 45-days ago.

SFFD has had to secure all their supplies and make sure each truck engineer has their eye on each truck's aid locker to prevent theft during calls.
