The amount of food we humans waste is astonishing, even under normal circumstances.

That we have so many who starve is insane, and grotesquely callous, especially given the above.

The independent butchers and processors are running at capacity. The 60,000 COVID deaths from CDC is up to May 2.

The local farmers tell me that they're selling what livestock they can, and will sell direct to individuals. They're selling at barely above and sometimes under cost. The holdup is that their normal market - big meat plants - aren't buying, and comparatively few local butchers still exist. The local butchers are already maxed out with orders.

I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

People ask: Why can't small operators step up and fill in the gaps?

People also ask: Why do we need small operators when I can save money with this big box operation over here?

And there you have it. The havoc that Wuhan is going to cause the economy is simply going to speed up what I've been preaching for years.

Americans want to save money, and as a result the people who could help are gone. If they aren't gone at the moment, they may be shortly. Just wait until the tax shortfall hits. Hope everybody enjoyed those saved dollars. Buckle up.

We're not on facebook. We have enough BS with spam e-mail and robo calls. If others get something positive from social media, that's their choice. You have to decide if the negatives are worth it.

My question is how does one know the negative remarks made on facebook or any other social media are even from Americans? Couldn't any anonymous hater around the globe be posting negative crap?

I wonder how many of those "..60,000 deaths" from COVID19 were gunshot wounds, car accidents, failures of parachutes to open ect. Regards 18DAI

I am alone too and the only one in my family that is not on FB.
Internet forums are about as social media as I get.

And as far as "Social Distancing", I have been practicing that for quite some time and was just called unsociable or a hermit.

I've been practicing 'social distancing' since I retired. To many years of dealing with knuckleheads. Razz

These are facts I didn't have. Thank you.
The local shops in my area (the ones I drive by often, that is) don't appear busy. Perhaps I was generalizing.

God bless America.

My B-I-L has two boys in 4H. They've already got their 4 pigs and are now worried as the County Fair has already be cancelled, leaving them to have to get rid of these pigs themselves.

I'd buy one but my chest freezers are full Frown

The (pardon my french) fucking fact that I cannot be with her right now, or visit at all is completely heartbreaking. She is the reason I became a nurse and was one herself for many years.

Hey COVID Fuck you. And, while we are at it fuck all the ridiculous rules surrounding you made by complete fucking idiots.

That is all. Reinserting filter now.

Lost my father at the beginning of the pandemic. Could not visit, nada, zero. The worst thing was dealing with the funeral home after we had the body moved and cremated. Funeral home arranged for an appointment where they did the contact-less delivery of the modestly priced receptacle. My aunt pulled up, popped the trunk, and some funeral home employee put the receptacle in there and a receipt. The lack of any sort of dignity about any of it, well these are the times so I’m holding it back.

I'm watching Fox right now and they're still showing 67,000 deaths currently. It'll probably be years before we get the truth, whatever that may be.

I’ve lived in California for 25 years. Seen a lot of protests. This is the first one I’ve seen by conservatives.

It is way past time that conservatives and those who support the Constitution woke up, loudly expressing our opinions and even protesting. For too long we have sat silent while the leftists have run roughshod over us and the Constitution with their socialism, left wing judges legislating from the bench, and silencing anyone who dares to disagree etc. If the left wants to hate us then bring it on. It's time to push back against them!

The 37,000 number is what the CDC is currently reporting. These numbers have gone through the CDC's process/bureaucracy for lack of a better phrase. The 67,000 number is the simple sum of what each state is reporting. It takes two weeks for the CDC to process the numbers (death certificates) from the states, so there is a lag between what the CDC reports on a give day and the states report on the same day.
