"…After learning that the state’s stockpile of medical equipment had 16,000 fewer ventilators than New Yorkers would need in a severe pandemic, Gov. Andrew Cuomo came to a fork in the road in 2015. He could have chosen to buy more ventilators. Instead, he asked his health commissioner, Howard Zucker to assemble a task force and draft rules for rationing the ventilators they already had.

That task force came up with rules that will be imposed when ventilators run short. Patients assigned a red code will have the highest access, and other patients will be assigned green, yellow or blue (the worst) depending on a “triage officer’s” decision. In truth, a death officer. Let’s not sugarcoat it. It won’t be up to your own doctor.

Cuomo could have purchased the additional 16,000 needed ventilators for $36,000 apiece or a total of $576 million in 2015. It’s a lot of money but less than the $750 million he threw away on a boondoggle “Buffalo Billion” solar panel factory."

Regarding Leftists here in the U.S., I agree wholeheartedly! The evidence of that is how those idiots in the House of Representatives tried to pack the Emergency Aid bill full of self-serving BS. If that isn't an example of crass opportunism and putting their own wants above the needs of the country, I've got a roll of toilet paper I can sell you for $1000.00! Wink

I am glad we have the Cuomo forecast for NY.

Now we have a measuring tool that in the very near term we can track.

Cuomo said NY is first, but every community across the U.S. will follow the same path.

I think that is very suspect. NY's numbers are driven by NY City. Highest density population in the country. Extremely high reliance on public transportation. A population that largely ignored the advice to avoid crowds.

NY City may represent one of the worst case scenarios.

xxxxxxxxxxxx

adding: that is a damning article posted by feersum above. Cuomo himself brought this ventilator crisis to NY ?

^^^^. Cuomo is loving the attention. Only an idiot like him would think NYC is indicative of what the rest of the country will see as far as infections go.

Gee. He's blaming Trump for potential future deaths but he's proud the state has about 100,000 abortions every year...

Classic New York. A lot of people from NYC think NYC is the center of the universe and no where else matters, or even really exists.

The FEMA stockpile is reported to be 20,000 ventilators. The entire country, at the beginning of this, was reported to have 70,000.

So he not only wants every single ventilator the feds have, that isn't even enough. He in fact wants NYC to have half the ventilators in the entire country.

Exactly the point I've been making locally, while the virus is real, the hype and fear around it is being stimulated by the left, media and bloggers to advance a political agenda and increase traffic for advertising revenue, anyone that thinks differently is seriously missing whats going on.

Not a word. I posted about Hurricane Sandy how this douche came to a command post, approached the bulletin board and started randomly pointing at pictures and charts as the cameras clicked. Walked away without saying a word.

Hey Andy, bitch to your pals Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillebrand. Aren't they in the Senate??

https://www.washingtonpost.com...EX2JBQ7HWY7WC3BCVPHA

Cuomo says pending Senate stimulus bill would be ‘terrible’ for New York

New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D) panned the $2 trillion Senate stimulus bill, saying it would be “terrible” for his state’s response to the coronavirus outbreak.

“It would really be terrible for the state of New York,” Cuomo said during a morning news conference from Albany. “That is a drop in the bucket as to need.”

Cuomo said the Senate bill — the product of negotiations between White House aides and Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) — would provide $3.8 billion in assistance to New York. By comparison, he said, a bill unveiled by the House earlier this week would include $17 billion for his state.

Cuomo said he spoke to members of the New York congressional delegation on Wednesday morning to urge changes to the Senate bill.

House Democratic leaders have not indicated whether they will pass the Senate bill without changes, seek to amend it or pass a separate bill.

Cuomo attempted to rebut anticipated criticism that New York is a big spender.

“We’re not a big-spending state. I cut taxes every year,” he said. “We are frugal, and we are efficient. I’m telling you these numbers don’t work.”

This virus fell in the lap of the left of this country like manna from heaven for them. They can't believe the opportunity it has presented to them. In their wildest dreams they could not have even hoped for something like this to fall into their lap.

They are going to use this in anyway they can for as long as they can possibly keep it going with the help of the media. This is their last chance before the election. Their last, and they know it.

Does it matter if Americans suffer financially, that some small restaurants and other businesses may never open their doors again. Of course not because to them this has nothing to do with you or I. It's only about them removing Trump. It has been that way for over three years.

The fact that Trumps approval ratings are now higher than at any previous time must have them stark raving mad. I predict this. Sometime between now and November Nancy Pelosi will experience a complete and total mental collapse. I only hope it's in a very public way with all the cameras rolling.

It would be nothing short of a complete government takeover of industry and our way of life would be over.

I have expressed my disapproval of this $2 trillion 'stimulus bill' that gives something to everyone and no one completely understands the ramifications, but I also know it could be worse.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Shelves are slowly filling back up here. Pasta, rice and canned food still look kinda desolate, and apparently the people who actually ran out of their normal toilet paper stocks when none was to be had are now having their go; there were recent reports about problems for the canalization and water treatment plants because of increased use of alternatives not so well suited for the infrastructure - tissues, paper towels, etc. However, the bread and produce sections are basically back to normal. Part of that may be that supermarkets have limited access and adopted "one out, one in" policies. When I went after work just now, people waiting outside where holding so much distance I had to be advised twice that this was not yet the end of the line. Big Grin

Less positive, we're on short time at work from tomorrow, meaning reduced hours and pay, boosted by payments from the national employment agency, a measure to avoid layoffs in companies experiencing (hopefully) temporary orders shortages. We usually need about 35,000 Euro of revenue per week to survive, though a couple weeks of 20,000 won't kill us. However, we made just 13,000 last week, and a grand total of 1,000 so far this one. I'm lucky that as part of the current in-office staff I'm on half-time at about 80 percent basic pay; most sales staff goes on five hours per week at 60 percent. The company has filed with the agency for this to last until the end of May, at which point we hope things will pick up again.
