Last Wednesday, 46 million people died from the virus. Next Wednesday, it'll be 16 billion. Yep. In one day.

It's everywhere. It's on your toaster. When you brush your teeth, you're putting coronavirus right into your mouth. Its on your toilet paper. Wipe your ass? Yep, you're infected and you're gonna die, and so is your entire family.

I put my mask and gloves on before going into a store. When I return to my truck I remove one glove to reach in my pocket and grab my keys to unlock the truck. I put whatever I got in a box in the back of my truck and then remove my other glove. I open the door. I remove my mask and set it on the dash board where it will bake in the sun all day. I pitch the gloves when I get home.

I'm not putting on a Goddamned mask for anyone, under any circumstances and I don't want to live in a country where covering one's face becomes accepted and normal.

Sheep

baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Whose fault is my complete distrust? Who? Not I. I have been lied to, too much, and now, I will accept nothing I'm told about this fucking fiasco by any so-called authorities. You cannot fault a man for refusing to accept anything told to him by people who have lied to him NON-STOP for his entire life, and now this grand melodrama.

Whose fault is that?

C'mon, hit us with some more of these fabricated statistics. I can't get enough of that shit.

Don't look now, but coronavirus is raping your dog.

I don’t put a mask on, but I do carry a Clorox wipe for opening freezer doors while shopping.

Far too often I have observed many using the bathroom and then not washing their hands.

I hate to break it to you, but that has been going on FAR longer than the Chinese Flu has been going around, yet you’re still alive. And I’m talking millennia.

The primary lesson from this incredibly stupid shit should be that we cannot do this again. We cannot stop everyday life because of a virus. Just about every aspect of this ridiculous mess was handled incorrectly by "authorities". They're no brighter than we, and, in many cases, they are nowhere near as well informed as we. People are making decisions based upon fear, including the fear of getting sued.

People should have done what they did the last time we had something like this- JUST GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE AND STOP PISSING YOUR PANTS AT THE SCARY WORDS THE LIARS ARE SAYING TO YOU.

We cannot let this happen again. I'm older. You younger guys are the ones likely to see something like this again. You have to push back and you have to push back hard.

True, and the odd part is it may be detrimental to my health given that the homeless are taking a dump in the street, not washing their hands and seem to be fairly immune to the Wuhan Virus.

Strange don’t ya think.

3,000 deaths out of a population of 330,000,000 when in normal times- 7500 people a day die every day in the USA. 1 every 12 seconds.

They've put 30,000,000 out of work and potentially destroyed them to save how many lives?

The 1 thing I know for a FACT is everyone is using this to promote their own personal agenda.

Have we installed socialism in America without a vote? These laws and changes will be harder to remove. The government mandated \ funded unemployment payments are the defacto guaranteed "universal basic income".

The financial repercussions of this haven't even started and they will effect Everyone.

It doesn't make any sense knowing the facts as we do.

Here's just a tiny hint of what's to come if they keep fucking with us.

Texas park ranger asking people to comply with social distancing is pushed into lake

Fuck your "social distancing." I wish to God to never again hear that stupid-ass phrase.

Stop fucking with civil liberties and the individual's natural right to move about freely in the course of their life. They're shitting all over the Constitution and I am thoroughly disgusted at the percentage of the US population willing to bend to this idiocy, all in the name of "if it saves one life..."

When the subject of masks come up, speak up and tell people that we do not live in a society where it is acceptable to cover one's face.

Unfortunately, an extreme (and small) militia group staged the last protest and our governor has made it known, supported by the media, that ALL protests are initiated by pro Trump, far right, militant extremists or pro gun groups. Now any opposition is militia based and will be ignored or should be crushed.

The state legislature is working to stop her and a recall petition is circulating. The social media push back is gaining momentum. There are efforts

I mowed for a while yesterday. While I was out, the battery in my earbuds died, and so did my music. That gave me time to think, with relatively few distractions. I thought about the corona-cooties, the mess our politicians appear to want to perpetuate, and the world that subsequent generations will inherit. I began to realize the sensibility of the lyric, "I hope I die before I get old."

I believe the politicians and the media are perpetuating a madness, a sickness, and a disease on our minds. We're conditioned now to believe what the mass media tells us, and to act according to its will. Some of us old-timers (or relatively old timers) are still just stubborn enough to thumb our noses at the establishment and the fear-mongering, and I believe some of the subsequent generation should learn to do the same.

I have no doubt that this virus is horrible on its victims, their families, and everyone directly affected by it. I also believe that the rest of us have an obligation to go on about our business, being respectful of others' conditions and beliefs but not necessarily giving up our own in the process, so as to keep this country and its economy moving in the right direction.

My employer is marked as "essential." My boss has labeled about half our department as such, and as a result we report to work each day like normal. I've no problem with that, as I'm grateful to still be employed. I won't deny that I'm a little envious of those who have received the work-from-home order, as I think I would enjoy doing that for a few weeks. But that's not feasible right now. Next week starts the "you have to have a mask on when you arrive and when you're among others" bit. I'm tremendously grateful that I have an office with a door (rather than my former spot in the cube farm) and that for the most part I can camp out there for the bulk of the day, mask-free.

I've said before (and will again) that every generation works hard to help make sure its children don't have to work as hard. That, overall, is a good thing. But after some number of generations doing that, we end up breeding a nation of wusses, people who can't think for themselves, solve their own problems, or function without some form of nannying. That's the downside. And here we are, watching people essentially bow down to what the media tell us, blindly following someone else's will. I'm not enthused about that.

I pray for peace, calm, sensibility, and love toward all those who are directly affected by this craziness, whether in terms of health, family finances, general liberties, or otherwise. The rest of us need to take every step possible to look out for our friends and families, to keep our economy moving in the positive, and to find ways -- however small -- to retaliate against those who would lay this fear upon us, those who would let this virus out and hide its details from the world, and those who would profit in terms of power or money from its presence.

[/soapbox]

God bless America.

100% totally agree. We're starting to see the early stages of it now, even in California. Give this shit another 4 weeks to simmer and we will witness something on a nationwide scale that I never thought was possible. Go ahead politicians, keep fucking with us, and see what happens.

True leaders, here and elsewhere, need to reevaluate the risk/reward of this approach, even with limited data to base decisions on.
This seems to be an extension of the "one life lost is too many" approach but when you have 8+ billion people in the world to consider and risk much more than a financial problem by continuing this tough decisions have to be made.
The damage already done by this shutdown is still yet to be determined but it will be enormous.

Well said, vthoky.
As for "those who would profit in terms of power or money from its presence" I am leery of not just politicians but people like Bill Gates.

Bill Gates's treasonous defense of China - why?

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Watch and listen to the California State Highway Patrol, only if your blood pressure is well under control.

Sometimes one has to play the peacemaker. At dinner last night our son (18 years old) announced he was going to hang out with his buddy Luke. Mrs. slosig had a major problem with that. I suggested that he should invite Luke to the ranch and we’d social distance at our range. That mollified her, Luke’s always up for shooting, and everybody’s happy. Sometimes it’s okay to be the peacemaker. Big Grin
