This is a long thread and I haven't popped in that often. Has anyone heard of a national day of protest demanding the country reopen? My wife showed me a thing on facebook, but I don't FB, so I haven't seen anything.

Has that already been talked about ad-nauseum in this thread yet?

Tony.

I've read about it is a few other places. If there is anything like that close to me I'll be attending.

Yep. People furloughed and on reduced shifts throughout our healthcare system and we're one of the largest in the region. There is no shortage of beds, PPE, staff, respirators, etc. Yet there's Governor Cooper calling for more restrictions. He's not a leader - he's a pandering, spineless, conniving fuck. Can't wait for the next election to vote his ass out.

Every time I see Cooper's smug face on tv I have to turn the channel or leave the room. I want to smash that smug look off his face so bad I'm afraid I'll kick in the television. Eek

Unfocused restrictions are crushing the health care industry. Here in Michigan, hospital systems are closing floors and furloughing thousands.

Even in the metro Detroit area where hospitals are at capacity treating covid patients, they are hemorrhaging cash.

Beaumont Hospital System is one of the largest systems, usually profiting about $16 million per month. Currently they are losing $100 million in cash each month.

Too much being on standby has resulted in gross under utilization of our health care industry.

In Michigan, we have 3 more weeks of statewide lockdown. No attempts have been made to only address restrictions where there is a critical need. Instead they apply them statewide. FYI, most of Michigan's population is in the small southeastern corner. The rest of the state is very rural, lower populations.

The governor has failed to adapt as this has developed.

The hospitals are losing millions because the only way you can get any care in Michigan right now is if you have COVID, or go to ER. Everything else has been shut down. The net result of this (from listening to the scanner) is that if you're sick, etc. You call 911. So rescue is basically running back to back calls, for people that really need to go to urgent care or a Dr.

Our imaginative Governor told us yesterday in her address that she is using science, cold hard science to make her decisions, but remember, since a person can have it and not know it, they can infect thousands. We have to save every Michigander! I'm sure those small towns in northern Michigan with a population of 200 in a county with no + cases are breathing a sigh of relief.

Interesting though how the states which have cities that have the highest positive and death rates announced the same day that they are exploring ways to open their cities and states back up.

Hilarious how she blamed the DeVos family for funding this pending protest, and of course tied that to Trump. Sorry, Republicans protest when they get pissed off, we don't need a political party to pay us to be there.

In other interesting but not reported news (from monitoring the scanner) is that every other call is an assault, family problem, domestic, or male beating a female in the street. Intermixed in that are at least 1 suicidal subject per hour and a good mix of people whipping their wieners out for the neighborhood to view. And throw in a few assaults in stores and the occasional car chase given no one is on the road so its apparently Fast & Furious 2020 out there.

My 72 year old mother has been in lockdown at her retirement home since this started. Nobody can visit her, they eat in their room, can't congregate, etc. She's getting all depressed and sideways. She had a tooth issue a month or two ago, it broke, I recommended she get it checked ricky ticky before The Sickness arrived. She didn't, now its probably abscessed. I got her into her dentist, who was only taking "emergency" visits, he ground it down but referred her to an oral surgeon to do the rest, we're in an emergency you know. They can't see her FOR A MONTH. Days of more drama, doctors, phone calls and she is on antibiotics waiting to maybe get ONE of her FOUR bad teeth removed "on an emergency basis" next week.

The cure can't be worse than the sickness...

Yep, and the anger is rising. As was noted above, I truly wish people in the non-hotspots wouldgive their local mayors, their governors, and the federal government the middle finger and head back to work, assuming they even have a job at this point. Unfortunately, the utter terror the media has built, and continues to build, in the masses is likely to prevent that from happening. There are a lot of heads in Washington that need to be adorning pikes and lamp posts all around the capital.

But, but...the local medial has labeled my town a hot spot because 1 person at the Publix here tested positive!! I'M FREAKING OUT!!! WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE, PLEASE FENCE US IN... Roll Eyes Big Grin

That can't happen here. Businesses are ordered closed. You can't go to a job when the building is locked and if opened will receive a visit from the police for breaking the law. You'll be ordered to leave and the business shut down and fined pending business license review.

Our governor made it very clear. You need a license to be in business, we control that, do what I say or you may have issues.

Once upon a time the public would make it very clear by hanging politicians from lamp posts. Do what's right, or you may have issues.

Americans seem to be too soft for that now, so they'll sit back and take it. They may complain a little, but nothing will really ever change.

Operation Gridlock This Wednesday to Protest Gretchen Whitmer.

The people of Michigan are furious and they’re fighting back the only way they can right now without getting tossed in jail by an over-reaching police force.

They are using their cars to protest the Democrat governor’s “Hitler-like” ruling in the Great Lakes State this Wednesday.

It’s called #OperationGridlock and it’s a safe protest where people from all over Michigan get in their cars and drive to Lansing, where Governor Whitmer “tyrannically reigns.”

OK, convince me of the wisdom of your plan. A small spark of less than 100 people caused this, so how is it not going to cause a major spike to go back to normal right now when thousands have it? What was the point of the last month if we throw that kind of gas on the fire at this point?

A. It aint my plan, Scooter. Never said it was. So why are you starting trouble where there wasn't any?

B. If you're that scared then go home and stay there. I'll send someone back for ya when it's safe out here. World's a rough place full of rough men and scary viruses. Has been for a while.

C. You know that 99.8% of this is political hype right? Right? You do know this is political hype , right? Roll Eyes

Haven't seen the Corona stimulus check in the automatic direct deposit yet. But the good news is I know they have the right information because the automatic withdrawal worked just fine today. Took a nice bite out of the account. State should be along shortly to make their withdrawal I'm sure. Frown

See, everything is normal, just fine! Razz

Good. I don't know to what extent he can actually do this, if nothing else he's putting them on alert that we pay 1/4 of their funding and the first WHO stands for World Heath Organization, their priorities should not be covering up or blindly accepting China's lies.
