Savor the limelight |
That explains the free mask I got at Wal-Mart in Cheboygan yesterday. I said thank you to the nice lady that handed it to me and immediately put it in my pocket. The day before, the ranger at Hoeft State Park offered me a free mask as she wore her mask alone behind a giant plexiglass partition. I just said "medical" and that ended the mask offer. We'll see what happens when we go the Mackinac Island and the Soo Locks. The way your Governor talks in her pressers reminds me of a kindergarten teacher.

Thank you Very little |
The government know these rules are unenforceable as a whole on people, it's why they forced it on businesses, the state can make any edict it wishes a requirement of operating your store restaurant/etc without violating any constitutional rights of a business, since it really has none. We shouldn't become Karens and take it out on the employee/owner, they may very well agree with you as to the mask, and regardless of Masks they would prefer not to be made into enforcement agents for the State as a method of convincing individuals to comply. Generally we all want to help our local businesses, not get them closed, fined. So what to do? Put on the Mask and you become one of the sheep, leave it off and risk getting fined, or the business being closed. It's been done this way for a reason.. to make those that question the viability of a Mask into the problem, regardless of science, and we become the bad guys...

So far only one place that I've gone to has said anything about a mask. The local Walmart had some little guy at the door ask me if I had a mask so I said "my doctor told me not to" and kept walking. Conducted my business and was out in less than 10 minutes and had no problem keeping my distance from other people. I was at another Walmart near my mom's the other day and nobody was asking.

Thanks Oaklane! And Mike Dewine was my county prosecutor when I was a cop. State politics have caused him to sink into the swamp. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Yooper, DeWine has been a bigger disappointment than expected, not that he was held in too high of regard anyways but was the lesser of 2 evils so to speak. I didn’t care for him at all as attorney general, I can only marine what you had to deal with as him being prosecutor

Well, it appears that mask usage has went down in businesses since it became mandatory.

Would you kindly elaborate?

Fewer people are wearing them today then they were a week ago. It became mandatory here last Friday, by unlawful executive order. People are giving the governor the finger.

I questioned my veterinarian since they require a mask to enter the building. He answered, "There's reality and then there's liability." The bottom line is that if anyone gets sick and says they got it at his office because no one was wearing a mask, they can sue him (not saying they would win, but they will sue anyway). It has become a never ending prediction of doom here in Marquette, pushed hard by the local news. They interviewed a couple of business owners (one of whom wore a clear plastic face shield with no mask underneath) expressing their full support of the no mask-no entry policy and plastic shield even said the penalty (500 fine and misdemeanor arrest) was far too lenient. The TV station manager has been on the air twice to berate local government for allowing people to congregate on the beach over July 4th. At least one business was ratted out to the cops for allowing an unmasked person inside. Marquette County Population is 66K+. Current cases are less than 100. I've actually seen more people wearing them but have only had one business question me so far. I have heard a lot of grumbling about them so maybe the number of them will start dropping

Another day, another presser and yet another emergency extension from Gov. Whitmer. Emergency extended until August 11. Citing increased numbers of infections. More mask related / no Fed help whining too. So with the "reviews" of death certificates and increased testing, numbers have gone up. Emergency! End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Expect Beshear to ramp up the fear. He keeps getting bitch slapped in court. Remember, you are not smart enough to look out for you and yours. You have to have the democrats to tell you what is safe. Expect the mask requirement to fall next. For what good it is doing. I went into four businesses today, and in two of them only the employees were wearing masks. The other two no one was wearing masks. LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A state appeals judge on Monday dismissed efforts by Gov. Andy Beshear to overturn two lower court rulings concerning COVID-19 emergency orders. Judge Glenn Acree upheld two lower court rulings that said the governor could not limit crowd sizes at Florence Speedway, class sizes at day cares or the number of people at “pick-your-own” family farms and event centers. The judge said he was not expressing an opinion as to the merits of Beshear’s claims on the lower court rulings, saying a three-judge panel of the Appeals Court could decide that. The ruling does not affect a separate order by Beshear on Thursday mandating Kentuckians to wear face masks in public places where people gather. Attorney General Daniel Cameron has challenged that order, which went into effect Friday at 5 p.m. Beshear spokeswoman Crystal Staley said the judge’s decision will increase the cases of COVID-19 in the state. “When the United States is seeing record numbers of positive COVID-19 cases every day, and states like Texas have multiple reports from childcare facilities of staff and children sick with the virus, now is not the time to ignore guidance from health care experts,” she said in a statement from Beshear’s office. “Right now, 500-plus businesses can operate without any safety requirements, including even handwashing, and daycares can decide to have class sizes that are not safe. Kentucky is already experiencing increasing cases and this ruling means we will see more spread of the virus.” Acree combined the two separate circuit court decisions in his ruling because Beshear’s request opposing them presented the same issues with the same problems. The cases involve rulings by Boone Circuit Judge Richard A. Bruegemann and Scott Circuit Judge Brian Privett. “Kentuckians have taken measures they believe must be taken to protect themselves, those they know and love and those they are yet to meet,” Acree wrote in his opinion. “And by their innate wisdom and common sense, they succeeded in keeping Kentucky ranked among states with the lowest per capita incidence of coronavirus.” Kentucky has surpassed 600 deaths and 20,000 cases of coronavirus, according to the latest reports from the health department.

Well, looks like ALL of Lil Andy’s executive orders are about to be scraped, to include masks. It’s a great day in Kentucky, and a great day for freedom.

Enough corporations are beginning to require masks be worn that Governors won’t have a need to mandate it. I have not worn one for one second and don’t even own one. I might be trapped now my son is getting married next Friday and the venue requires it. Time to get my “medical exclusion” excuse polished up I guess.
