There's nobody mandating the vaccine either.

I am currently watching a very dear friend die from this disease and I can assure you that it is not at all pretty or peaceful.

Is it going to kill you? Who knows. I can tell you, though, that I have seen people in their 80s with serious comorbitities sail through it with nothing more than the sniffles, and I have seen perfectly healthy people in their 30s die from it. I have also seen the opposite. The pisser is that nobody really knows why it takes who it takes (we know how, just not why), so catching it is essentially nothing more than a coin toss as to whether or not you are going to survive.

Betting your life on a coin toss is simply foolish. I'll echo Shugart and sjtill...just get the fucking vaccine.

I do find it somewhat amusing how many here would quickly label Jenny McCarthy (and many other prominent antivaxxers) a batshit crazy loon, yet some of you have followed her straight off the deep end.

No, folks, this is not some big government conspiracy orchestrated by Bill Gates, Dr. Fauci, and the Chinese Communist Party. It is a real disease for which we have a real preventative measure.

Take it and protect yourself. Or don't. Heads or tails?

- When was the last time anyone pushed out a vaccine for a novel virus in less than a year? Including field trials?

- When was the last time the government \ media lied to us?

- Consider the confusion and mixed messages on something simple like masks. Now take their word as gospel on something new and untested like the vaccine.

- They can't even accurately test for it.

- A coworkers parents supposedly had it. That's the only person, second hand that I know whose supposedly had it.

- In good times 7500 people a day die in America. That's 2,737,500 a year.

- Even if 500,000 people died "From it" lots of them were going to die anyway from preexisting issues.

Individual freedom used to be a hallmark of America.

Gus, I respect most of what you stated.

But this treatment does not prevent one from getting c19 or spreading c19. And we must admit that the development in a few short months with little time to evaluate its possible long term side effects are a coin flip as well.
I am on record saying it might be a good thing in time but being part of a trial on an experimental treatment on something we know little about is risky too.

I hope your friend makes it.

Mandates are being pursued and used all over including here in the US. Work place mandates are becoming more common all the time. What about the Military to name just a few. Federal employee's, Police, etc. Is being removed from promotions or receiving benefits a mandate of sorts. Yes it is. So yes mandates are being put in place.

While there may be mandates for the military I do not see a universal mandate to be vaccinated. I do see vaccination being required to attend certain events and enter certain venues. All of that will depend upon getting Covid under control.

A coin toss is 50/50 chance, head or tails.

If you were to catch COVID, your odds of surviving are greater than a 50/50 chance, are they not?
This is not betting your life on a coin toss scenario.

To think that this is a pandemic without political influence is silly.
mRNA is a new technology, forgive me for not putting full faith and trust in our politicians and the media.

I do however thank those that have decided to give these vaccinations a try.
This will increase our knowledge and even could help in development of additional medical breakthroughs.

Same here. I have a good friend here that caught it. Always healthy he has had a past issue with cancer but one of the most strong and healthy guys I know. Yet he got it and wound up hospitalized. In and out he's been on O2 and unfortunately the damage done will probably require it for the rest of his life.

What I don't understand is why some (very few) forum members continually post the same shit over and over. I understand that they will not take the vaccine at this time, but why do they continue to post the same thing over and over, and diss those who have taken it? The lady doth protest too much.

No plans to get it. Not some anti-vax conspiracy, just have no need. The girl scheduled an appointment with the VA but then cancelled it. She, like me, has figured that we have been wandering around maskless (the horror!) for the last year, washing our hands and not sticking our fingers in our mouths (my 5 year old self thanks my mom for hygiene lessons) and hanging out with friends grilling and drinking beer and haven't caught it yet. Both mid/late 40's and relatively healthy so there is no need. Let the people who want it get it. No need to burden the system. We'll both be fine.

Because not even people have quoted their posts and commented it. I truly believe that.

Perfectly said.

It is so frustrating to attempt to follow or participate in a conversation when members begin to throw out insults because not every member agrees with their take.

We do not have an overwhelming Mod presence here, and I believe part of what makes this site so great is that we are able to keep each other in check without a heavy staff influence to keep things in check.

That said....

Yes, I would/will get it when it is available to me. (I’m hoping for the J&J version). I have a 45 year old aunt who was a pretty active and healthy woman; now months after her diagnosis she still has respiratory issues and has now been diagnosed with Type2 diabetes.

No good.

Did I call anyone here a "frighten sheep" short answer is no. But if you are of the mindset that because you got the "poke" everyone else needs to for the benefit of the greater good than maybe the shoe fits. You can determine that for yourself.

It is a choice, but the gov and its minon's are trying to make it less so.

Those who post about how great the vaccine is are no different than those here who post about it being not.

The difference is that those who are not pro this experimental treatment mostly get looked down upon here based upon some posters.

Calling members a "Karen" as one example because of the way they post is no different than making a general statement about frightened sheep. So maybe some of you have the right sized foot Wink

Went downtown to Amazon HQ this morning where they held another SuperVax day for those with appointments for a 2nd round. Received my 2nd dose of Pfizer.

I'm expecting another round of typical reactions by tomorrow. After my 1st dose I felt unwell for about 48 hours then it passed.

Happy to have received it.
