During the war my mother was a military nurse and was in Germany when the war ended. She stayed there until 1950 to help set up orphanages since there was a ton of orphans that needed help. She spoke, wrote and read German.

She mentioned after speaking with the German citizens was that she felt that they were envious of how well the Jewish people lived and resented dealing with them on a daily basis when they struggled trying to make ends meet. You had to make a farm payment, deal with a Jewish banker, buy clothes deal with a Jew store owner, buy food deal with a Jew market owner. Jews had a car you walked or had a bike. Well you get the picture.

All large groups need a scapegoat. Read 1984. The Jews have never made up a significant portion of the population. Other scapegoats have included:

Gypsies
Other races (blacks, Mexicans, whites)
Communists
Christians
Muslims
Foreigners

It all depends on what large group you belong to or whichever's control you fall under base on locale, time period, or nationality.

The Jews have been "hated" and persecuted since long before Christianity, so that is not the "reason", that is only the "proximal excuse".

Thunderson, above, had most of the correct ideas. There really is "diversity" in the human race, and the Jews really are more intelligent (on average) giving a more advanced concept of God and moral values and the value of community structure.
This leads to success and "superiority" in many fields; and sparks "outrage" in many people.

Keep in mind that I am not a Jew. I just look at world history and call it like I see it.

It is very easy to say that the world hates Jews because "they are the chosen people", or because of some vague notions of "anti-semitism". Those answers are, quite frankly, intellectually unsatisfying.

From a US-centric perspective, Jews are often resented because they have unique characteristics as an ethnic and cultural group. Jews strongly believe in extended family relationships and education. "They" will support other Jews throughout all walks of life, oftentimes to a fault. "They" believe in the collective, possibly much more so than any other ethnic group in America. This is a natural result of their experiences throughout history -- individual notions such as self-defense, bearing of arms, free speech, etc. are often suppressed to meet the perceived needs of the collective (gun control).

World-wide, Jews are resented for many reasons. One big reason, however, is that rightly or wrongly, they are perceived to use their positions of authority to "rig things in their favor", so to speak. Whether this is really true is up to one's own judgement.

Ok... since the topic has been brought up...

I saw this on YouTube and I know we have some excellent SigForum members who are Jewish. I wanted to ask their opinion of this video, but didn't think it was appropriate, but I think it's appropriate for this topic.

For the OP, this is a Rabbi (controversial from what I can tell based on reading about him) that explains why Hitler hated the Jews.

For our Jewish members, what are you opinions about this?

Why did Hitler hate jews? Rabbi Yosef Tzvi ben Porat will explain to you

Dictators, Politicians, Etc. gain power by creating an "enemy". The enemy may be any of the above or Amerikashki, Democrats, Republicans, Christians, Protestants, Catholics, or as others have said, any minority group that is different.

I've never understood this either. First from a historical perspective we didn't kill Jesus, a religious leader who was jealous did ask the Roman governor to do it. That governor was a weak man who feared losing his position of power. So two power hungry people are responsible. Greed killed Jesus. The Romans in fact did kill Jesus in a Roman manner for sedition. He was not killed for blasphemy. At best ONE Jew was 50% responsible for his death.

Second from a religious perspective Hound Dog is correct Jesus died for the sin of every person on the planet. God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son. So you can blame God.

All the rest is fear of people that are different from one's self and jealously.

So you're saying the Romans would've crucified Jesus without the Jews' involvement?

I'm saying I'm REALLY tired of all the "Christ-killer" talk that has been thrown around by anti-semites for the past several centuries.

Technically, the Jews did NOT kill Jesus. Even more technically, if we wish to assess blame, it is the fault of every human who ever lived and ever will live (and I start that list with myself).

Now, of course, the Jewish religious leaders (NOT "The Jews," just SOME of them) provoked the Romans to carry out His execution. But that really isn't the point.

Your point in the original response - Satanic inspired hatred of God’s chosen people - was the crux of it. “The world” hated the Jews thousands of years before the cross. The fate of so many earthly superpowers over the mellinia that have tried to eradicate or oppress such a tiny and otherwise insignificant portion of the world population should be a warning...

It’s interesting to see what comes out in such discussions even today, and in particular the whole “insular” and “rich and controlling” claims that some people who cite them obviously still believe.

For every rich and controlling Jew in developed countries, how many were at the bottom of the economic ladder throughout history? The worst pogroms in the eighteenth century and later were in places like Eastern Europe and Russia where Jews were usually as dirt poor as the rest of the peasantry. When the Germans invaded Poland and the Soviet Union during World War II, they were disgusted not by how wealthy and influential the Jews there were, but by how “dirty and backward” they were. Not that the Nazis and even common soldiers needed any reason to carry out their extermination programs, but that was one of the things their letters home frequently mentioned.

But even more ironic—if not simply risible—is the, “They keep to themselves and don’t mingle with the rest of us,” inanity. A group is discriminated against in countless ways: they’re forced to live in restricted areas, they are denied access to public facilities, they are prohibited from working in many professions and fields, they can’t attend many schools, they are restricted by law from serving on juries or in public office, the sexes can’t associate with each other outside their group even if they wanted to, and of course they don’t participate in the religious activities that others do, and wouldn’t be permitted to even if they wished. We might as well be referring to blacks in the pre-1960s American South. In the case of the Jews the discrimination and enforced isolation go back centuries and yet they’re somehow to blame for keeping to themselves?

Most of those things don’t apply in the U.S. today, but it wasn’t that long ago that they did, and traditions and attitudes linger. And yes, people tend to associate with others who share their beliefs and interests. I’m not going to spend much time with someone who constantly reminds me that I’m going to hell for my opinions about religion.

My wife grew up in Rostov-na-Donu which was occupied by German troops in WWII. During the occupation her Armenian grandmother was confronted by a Nazi officer & shot "because she looked like a Jew". She survived after the family pleaded with the officer, "not Jude, not Jude" & was taken to a hospital.

One doesn't have to believe in the validity of an argument to know that argument has been made in the past. It's a common argument applied across the spectrum. Currently in the United States these arguments are made by some against Asians.

It only takes a cursory examination to discover that many "strangers in strange lands" stick together and support one another. I would posit that EVERY minority group that is relatively new to an area has behaved the same way and been treated the same by the majority. I believe the drive to keep the cashflow within the culture only wanes after many generations, with the exception of the interjection of twentieth century socialism. For instance I believe the combination of slavery AND socialist programs have prevented blacks in America from supporting each other as effectively as other groups have. Interestingly enough, the group that seems to be most vocal about Asians sticking to themselves are blacks. This fairly recently culminated in Asian stores being targeted in Los Angeles by young blacks for petty theft. This led to the shooting of a young black girl for shoplifting by an Asian store owner, which in turn led specifically to the targeting of Asian stores during the Rodney King riots and finally to the images of Asians, banding together, and protecting their businesses. What is often not reported is that many many Asian businesses didn't have protection and were destroyed.

A lot of it comes down to tribalism and human nature but at the end of the day it makes no more sense to hate "the jews" as it does any other group because there is no such thing as a monolithic jewish population. The Jews of Eastern Europe are very different from the Jews of Ethiopia who are nothing like the Jews on the North Shore of Chicago. Even within Israel, there are a wide variety of Jewish identities with very different traits.

But again it's just human nature to lump people into groups and judge accordingly.

As others have said; It is written that the Jews are God's chosen people.

If you believe in the Old and New testaments you can see that Satan and all fallen angels are rebellious toward God. Mankind is fallen and is often influenced by evil and rebels against God.

Look at our modern day society and see the trend to go against all that God said was his way.

There is evil in the world and it appears there always has been.

Insular behavior is something that's associated with the Jewish people, but point out the above to most and they'll tell you that it never happened. Our oppressors ended up hating us more because we flourished despite being intentionally isolated from whatever mainstream culture we attempted to live in. The Dreyfus affair is a good example of this, and an unfortunate fore warning of things to come.

The world hates the Jews because the Jews were the first people in recorded history to set down laws (whether you believe they're divinely inspired or not) that not only forever changed how we humans view and interact with each other, but they also set down the foundations for Western Civilization, upended the status quo with how men are to treat women, and bring order to chaos with regards to the human condition. The world hates Jews because Jews, by their very existence, are proof that the order that they've established throughout their history, works.

"Thou Shall Not Steal"

One of the greatest and simplest statements. It implies the existence of private property, including your life as being your own to spend as you choose. Even beyond what we think of as the "10 commandments", the Pentateuch is chock full of incredible wisdom. The world, at the time, had never before heard that you should not favor the poor man in the court, or that a rich man's eye had the same value as a poor man's eye. (Not exactly about gouging eyes out.)

There are many reasons people will give as to why the world hates the Jews, but in my opinion this is close to the heart of all of them. Even those that say "The Jews stole our land!" don't really just want the land. The Jewish people represent a successful culture in the midst of cultural and economic failures.

This is incorrect. Jews forced Pontius Pilot's hand in the matter and are 100% responsible. They chose to set Barabus free and send Jesus, an innocent man by all accounts, to be crucified.
