Never miss an opportunity to be Batman! |
There is a legend concerning the Darksaber.....it must be taken via personal combat in order to "keep" it. Those who are given it, usually can't keep it and end up losing it while those who steal it, have bad endings. It is a Weapon of Karma and Destiny, through the Force. It will be interesting to see who ends up with it: Din, Bobba, or Bo-Katan. I can even see Grogu wielding it someday as a combination Jedi/Mandalorian Foundling.

Sure.....but... In my opinion, having Yoda and every other Jedi distilled down to their saber-gymnastics is what was wrong with the prequel trilogies, imo. Clone Wars cartoon and Rebels showed a more story-driven pulpy space western side of the SW Galaxy, that I think finds more staying power with the audience. The “hey you let’s hyper-bounce with laser swords” approach was soooooo agonizing. (IMO) “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. Mencken

We now know the the true depths of how Evil the Empire is...not only do they have infant size handcuffs, they have TPS reports!

Love the nod to Mike Judge. edit: dang you're fast! I thought I would make the observation more general in case some haven't seen it yet...

Yeah, that M14 video guy... |
Another good episode. I needed something to make me smile today. I laughed pretty good when he mentioned the TPS reports as well. Owner, TonyBen, LLC, Type-07 FFL www.tonybenm14.com (Site under construction). e-mail: tonyben@tonybenm14.com

Unapologetic Old School Curmudgeon |
Great episode. Operation Cinder.... from Battlefront. They are embracing the EU Easter eggs. 10 new Star Wars shows on the way from Disney plus. 88 million subscribers at about $7 a month is a hell of a lot of money coming in. Lookng forward to the Bad Batch. Now do some Old Republic stuff please. Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day

They're at least heading that direction. One of the new shows that was announced was Star Wars: Acolyte, which is set in the High Republic era, which is several hundred years before the prequel trilogy, but several hundred years after the defeat of the Sith and the unofficial end of the Old Republic era... (Though it's confusing because the entire Galactic Republic timeframe is sometimes referred to as the Old Republic, so depending on how you're using the term, even Acolyte could be set in the "Old Republic".)

OK, I know we're supposed to stretch and suspend our reality a bit when we watch these shows and I'm good with that but..... Am I supposed to believe, that located in the corner of the officer's mess, which is adjacent to the warehouse/loading dock, contains a ATM-sized communications device (morale calls back home?), that's able to give tracking & communication information on Imperial (new order) ships?

Well if you believe Bill Burr as a (former) Imperial soldier it’s not that much of a stretch! Mongo only pawn in game of life...

The terminal is connected to google and google knows everything. Not minority enough!

What pushed me beyond belief was that ANYBODY without a warrant could access that terminal. They didn't even have to be an Imperial. Just 'anybody with a face.'. . I found it odd to chear when I heard the TIEs approaching, too. "Yay, the TIE fighters are here!" And I liked the joke when Boba Fett stated that he has "a face people would recognize," since this show is the first live action where we saw (adult) Boba's face - in Empire and Jedi, he never removed his helmet. Good episode overall. Fear God and Dread Nought Admiral of the Fleet Sir Jacky Fisher

For me the Boba face joke was that his face was technically the face of all the clones. Thousands and thousands of them. “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. Mencken

Guys, I’m still coming to grips with the fact that it’s not Baby Yoda, but Grogu. Didn’t see that coming. P229

To be fair, the fan-given name of "Baby Yoda" wasn't an accurate term from the get-go, any more than some random baby being called "Baby Russ" just because it also happened to be human. The official Disney term for Season 1 and part of Season 2 was just "The Child". (We don't even yet know the name of the species to which Yoda and Grogu belong.) Still, I don't think Grogu was the best choice for a name. He doesn't look like a "Grogu". Besides, he's not exactly a "baby". While he may still be physically immature, he is 50+ years old, with 50+ years of life experience.

I took this as a sign that Mando has something going on in his past with connections to the Empire. But I can also see someone wondering why an ex-Imperial soldier would still have access. True geek moment for me was the seismic charge. I was even thinking it'd be a perfect time to use one right before the camera focused on the launch port. Then I literally squealed with excitement when the launcher opened. Was a little disappointed in the sound of the explosion, though. In the movie, it was much louder--and that was in the vacuum of space. That, and the fact that the explosion was only two dimensional. At least show us a spherical shock wave... The Quiet Man |
It's the Empire. The same Empire that designed not one but TWO moon sized space stations with critical flaws that enabled them to be destroyed by a single hit. The second station had direct access to it's vulnerable power core large enough for a small freighter to fly into. I don't know they are really on the ball when it comes to security issues. They probably just run the faces against anyone named "Skywalker" and call it good. I thought Burr was great last week. Not in a "comedian in a guest role" great, actually great. He managed to put on a nuanced performance that I didn't really expect him to be capable of. I hope we see him again, that character is too deep for just a couple of guest shots. There is also the issue of he's the only living person to have seen Mando's face...
