Still finding my way |
"You're with Brienne of FUCKING TARTH!?"

Well, she did just risk her own life and lose a dragon to save his life (in part), and help complete the mission he risked his life for. She, or Jon, might be the first monarch he actually considers a worthwhile leader to risk death for, as opposed to just kicking ass for a paycheck and personal satisfaction, as he did in the past. It's been reiterated that he has a purpose to fulfill, and that he sees that now. Stopping his brother could be his purpose, and/or protecting another Stark offspring... The bigger obstacle IMO, as you say, would be setting up a situation where Dany would agree to a decision by single combat. Perhaps it won't be her decision though, as Jon may be on scene as her emissary. He's down with single combat, at least against little Ramsey Bolton.

Chains? Forget the chains - the undead wouldn't cross broken ice for fear of drowning - and then suddenly the White Walkers have their own team of crack Scuba specialists to raise the dragon?? Still great fun !!!

Do the next right thing |
The undead drowning thing threw me off a bit. I mean, it's not like they need to breathe. Why can't they just make their way across the bottom, come up through the ice, and kill them? Why would a little thing like water hold them back?

Yes, something tells me that innocent gesture will play into the next episode or two.

I'm not sure, but some possibilities include that she was showing Sansa "I'll trust you, but if you don't do right, I'll kill you and peel off your face." Or, she could know Littlefinger is the ongoing threat and she wants Sansa to have that weapon for when she realizes it, too.

The Night King should load up on spears and go Elf on the dragons. He's got the arm for it.

Why did Sansa send Brienne away? Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day

It seems like Sansa could be planning a move against Arya, or at least wanting Littlefinger to think she is, since he told Sansa that Brienne would protect the Stark girls from the one another.

Fighting the good fight |
Sansa very well may have some grand scheme going. But she also needed someone she could trust to represent her interests at the meeting in King's Landing. And Brienne was her best option.

Notice that it was apparently Cersei who invited Sansa, not Jon; he'd of not wanted her there. Could be she's trying to gather all her enemies to one location...

This going to be quite the bummer if when it's all said & done, the Night King winds up on the Throne. ___________________________ All it takes...is all you got. ____________________________ For those who have fought for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

Do we think that Cersei's trap is to have the fields where we see the Unsullied and the Dothraki mustered trapped with wildfire, a la Braveheart or the Last Samurai? ---------------------------- Chuck Norris put the laughter in "manslaughter" Educating the youth of America, one declension at a time.

Possibly. I have been having a hard time figuring out what will happen based on the preview. I have no idea why they show Theon on a beach again exhausted. Perhaps Yara is dead? Maybe they execute her there in hopes to trigger Dany as Tyrion mentioned. IDK, seems tough to call. My other thought was that Cersei proposes to solve it with Single combat of a champion, naturally she pics the mountain and maybe the hound volunteers. Of course the only way to beat a zombie clegane is fire so perhaps the hound wields a flaming sword as payback and overcomes his fear. Hell maybe he'll be azor ahai, doubtful of course. Her and Quyburn have certainly had great success with Wildfire, as did Tyrion, and I've been thinking Cersei would likely use it again. Euron's fleet is equipped with possibly hundreds of trebuchets, and probably King's Landing, too... ETA: Dany and her dragons, however, are immune to fire... Maybe a lot of damage will be done to both sides, leaving far less (fewer) to fight the undead. That being said, traditionally the seasons don't end with a big battle.
