I have no doubt Arya can put on the face and look like Sansa, but how is she supposed to grow a foot taller? Razz

Also, couldn't Dany have ordered any one of her children to do a strafing run on the White Walkers on horseback? They are so easy to spot up on the hill observing. She could have ended it right there and possibly without losing Visarion. Roll Eyes

I figure the Faceless Men (& women & children) have access to supernatural powers to complete their disguises. Maybe the face is just an offering of sorts to the MFG. Recall that Melisandre is actually a hag, hundreds of years old, who maintains her disguise with the help of the ruby at her neck, and glamour magic.

As far as the big battle, yes, Jon should have been pointing like crazy at the Night King and Dany should have hit him the with all three dragons. However, the Night King appears to be fireproof, or at least able to suppress fire to some extent. He's a real game changer on the battlefield. I don't know if the other White Walkers are also able to deal with fire, or not, but it seems likely. I'm actually looking forward to seeing what else the Night King can do when the shit gets real.

They can.
Season-5, episode-8, Hardhome a Walker walks into the hut that held the Wildling conference and where Jon and Ed have run in, to retrieve the dragonglass. As the Walker enters the burning building, the fires recede as he continues inward. Dragon fire on the other hand, is a whole different kinda fire, and perhaps that might be, along with dragonglass and Valarian steel things that can kill them.

I'd forgotten about the fire at Hardhome; you're right. As far as dragon fire, I'm not optimistic it will destroy the bosses. During the last episode it was dragon fire on the ground that the NK walked through/suppressed; it wasn't direct fire from the dragon's mouth, but it would seem a fine line for the writers to be adding at this point, that the bosses are immune to ALL fire except a direct hit from a dragon. I think things have been set up so it's probably only through hand-to-hand combat that the bosses and NK can be destroyed. That being said, Dany is immune to fire too...perhaps she'll be on the ground at some point and call for a dragon strike on her location, ala Platoon.

Alan Taylor, director of the episode, has chimed in to quash the rampant "magic Longclaw eyes opening" conspiracy theories running wild on the web currently, stating in an interview:

"That is so funny, somebody else mentioned that to me and I haven't got a clue what they're talking about. So either this sword is magic and it's doing stuff on its own or something happened.

I'm going to have to go back and watch that moment close up and in slow motion to see what's going on there. I can say that there was no intention for that to be the case."

salaries:

From Game of Thrones, we have Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), all of whom earn $ 500,000 per episode.

I've seen at least a couple of breakdowns of the last episode that make an argument for the whole north-of-the wall scenario being a setup by the Night King. He may be a greenseer, and be able to see both the past and the future. (somebody may have already mentioned that in this thread)

That would explain a number of the things that seem a little too convenient writing-wise, like: the small scouting party where only one Wight didn't fall when Jon killed the White Walker, the encircling but not killing of Jon's party, the presence of never-before-seen throwing spears, the dead carrying around shipyard chains, etc...

Ya its possible. Ive also been watching the same thing you have. If I were the show makers I would of course say that it was true. But I agree with Preston, some of it was poorly written.

Just because I was curious, I double checked. Looking at the time showing on HBO, it appears to be hour and a half tonight.

I saw run time would be 81 minutes, according to IMDB and another site. HBO has 85 minutes scheduled from the start of GOT to the start of the show that follows it.

I read that the final season will be basically be three two-hour movies, but I don't know how accurate that is.
