Just picked up a 750ml bottle of Rock Hill Farms for $39.99 and another 750ml bottle of Blanton's ON SALE for $40.79 at our new Total Wine & More store in MetroWest Boston! No tax on wines and spirits (or beer) in Massachusetts, too. Can you tell I'm doing my "happy dance"? Big Grin

Oh yeah, I also have a new job. Wink

Those are great prices on both Rock Hill Farms and Blanton's, $54.99 and $57.99 here respectively. RHF is under appreciated, IMO. I'd be doing a happy dance as well.

First time having WLW. Damn its hot but it was damn tasty. Hard to explain the smoothness thru the bite. Sucks the oxygen out of you but leaves a wonderful flavor on the palate.

Blanton's $54.99 at my B+M as well. Don't like it that much. Bought BT instead.

I know we have the Eljiah Craig Small Batch on our shelves, but don't remember seeing the WLW - I'll have to look for it. Wink

I'll keep all y'all posted on our prices if you like. Had "three fingers" of the Rock Hill Farms last night with one little cube - slept unbelievably well after my first 10-hour shift. Good thing I don't get an employee discount on spirits, tho'. My whole paycheck would be spent before I got home!!! Big Grin

I have been wanting to try to WLW - have heard nothing but great things and I am a huge fan of all the other Weller branded bourbons.
On a positive note, I found a bottle of ETL yesterday

Is $129.99 a good price for Elijah Craig 18? Just might get some on Black Friday (I'm working at the store). Wink

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Going to have a taste test of Blanton's, Rock Hill Farms, and W. C. Weller with my son-in-law and his dad tomorrow. I know, I know -- it's tough duty but someone's got to volunteer! Big Grin

It's a fair price. Closer to $160 here. I passed because I wasn't a huge fan when it was $50 a few years ago. You might like it more than I do. It's certainly worth picking up.

Blanton's and Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel are the same juice (made from the same mash and white dog), and aged along side all the other expressions of Blanton's.

Elmer is to Blanton's like Booker's is to Beam, a selection of barrels handpicked by a Master Distiller from the tons of barrels of Blanton's stock (or Beam stock in the case of Booker's).

IIRC, they came about naturally in the form of a Master Distiller fulfilling their duties, tasting countless barrels at different times, and noticing trends - such as: the top row in the NW corner of WarehouseB gets a steady summer breeze and tends to make the barrels over there a little sweeter (or whatever else that equates to a unique enough flavor profile or bottling proof to stand on its own, thus Booker's and Elmer (the whiskies)).

Not that Elmer is any easier to find or any cheaper, anymore.

But that's the closest there is, and the only real alternative IIRC.

I think EC18 is over aged and thus a bit too woody, and too expensive for what it is. I'd still pick EC12 even if it cost the same as the 18, and I think the EC12 Barrel Strength is the very best thing Heaven Hill produces. It *is* the very essence of Heaven Hill, imo.

if I had more I *might* trade it for two bottles of Pappy 15, or a 15 and a Lot B. maybe.

if I could find enough I'd buy and sit on a few cases, but it's a pain in the balls to find.

I have day dreams about aging experiments with it.

Smile
