I think there is a Mod to build over roads if I"m not mistaken. Then you could wall off the base. I dont think that mod has been installed yet.

I mean even though I crashed, I made it a point to not fly near anything worth a shit that could explode. I actually hit the tail on the pole and didn't get wobbly until I got back out over the road...then the rotor started clipping trees and she just ate it.

On a side note, the big ass Mi-17 has no problem carrying those troop transport trucks. So...like FYI and stuff.

I have a controller stick for flight ops. I need to find a place to practice. Are the helicopters in the regular Op Arrowhead the same as the ones in DayZ?

Yep. Fire up Arma 2 Op Arrowhead and go to single player. From there select Armory and you can pick different things to fly. If you've never done it before, you only start with 2 helicopters and while in the Armory flight mode little challenges will pop up. After you complete a challenge you get points, and each "level" unlocks more aircraft.

Usually they are a race through checkpoints, picking up and dropping off people, or "you're being hunted, survive for 3 minutes".

The survival one is the hardest because they send jets and shit after you with heat seeking missiles. You'll notice though that each one teaches you a different skill. The race teaches you low altitude maneuvering and handling. The pickup/dropoff teaches you landing, and the survival challenge teaches you how to dodge and evade if someone is trying to kill your ass.

The ones for the planes I haven't really figured out yet. Some of them want you to pick stuff up, but the stuff to pick up is always in a weird spot where you most certainly cannot land a freakin' jet.

Hang on there, Susan. That was no retaliation killing, I killed you because you said "AI near the chopper," and this chick with an M4 near the chopper runs at me. How was I supposed to know A- that you weren't AI, and B- that you were a chick.

You need to include important info when you call enemies to fire at. Like where you are, or at the very least get out of the fire zone you called.

Whoa there buddy. That's the first thing I've ever blown up. I wasn't the one throwing grenades and blowing up fuel trucks and all that shit.

He's not talking talking specifically about you, it's just the constant shower of errant helicopters is rather taxing. Smoke Eater had the best on though. I had a good laugh.

I know I suck at flying, it's the only reason I haven't crashed a chopper and destroyed peoples vehicles. Because I figure, yeah, that's going to happen. If I get better, I still think Green Mountain would be too tight for me.

As far as someone using grenades, or when you hear vehicles exploding and someone says "I didn't know this had missiles," people just need to experiment farther from things that we want to keep.

So far, I think almost everyone has accidentally ejected from a chopper at least once. That, and cratering a parachute jump are rites of passage.

Yeah I'm good at the borking stuff. Intent was to move the thing away from the base to keep from blowing stuff up....and I creamed it into the gate. I did attempt penance with some gold and other loots.

Still better than hitting it with a hatchet til it explodes and takes the rest of the vehicles with it, or pressing buttons in the cockpit until you find missiles.

Or getting hosed off by some stupidfuck, cunt-lipped, mouthbreathing drunk who doesn't know how a fucking punchline works. That is to say, smokeater had an accident, his intent was not to be a dumbass and blow up people's stuff, it just sort of happened and we had a good chuckle. Meanwhile, there are other parties that intentionally fuck right off.

Yes, I'm still a bit upset about that.

Was in the new base alone.

It looks like AI can either glitch into the garage areas, or just crawl prone into them.

I got one guy in the open, then I hear breathing but can't find anyone.

I walk around the outside, and shoot two bandits in the ass, they were halfway inside Kevins garage, they may have been stuck in the wall.

Yeah, a couple things I learned last night:

- Ghille suites look cool but hide the most obvious friend-or-foe identifier: the backpack.

- If ASG hears gunshots, you better start to wiggle out the friendly dance like Elvis himself has come back from the grave to posses your hips if you are within a mile of his position. He WILL ventilate your brain case if you look even remotely threatening.

- Don't drive VW's...bad shit happens when you are in or around a VW. (I could be overreacting on this one.)

- If you don't yet have the scratch to buy a safe, do not, I repeat DO NOT keep all your money in your backpack. It's safer in the sheds. No one blows the sheds up. VW's on the other hand...

- Bret

P.S. I'm not mad. I got sniped/blown up two or three times in the first hour on Shogun's server. I made it several DAYS over on this server! I consider that a win.

Yeah, my bet is they are spawning/glitching into Kevin's garage.

And the the backpack identifier is cool now, but the ghillie suit is going to be way more helpful when real people are on the server. Everyone's gonna have a backpack.

I was moving my stuff around last night and I must be too attached to my gear or something because it felt like I was carrying the lost cup of Christ.

If you need a safe sadler, I've got one you can have after I get done moving the rest of my stuff from green mountain tonight. Also, is the VW you're talking about the one that was parked outside of green mountain that I blew up on accident?

I really, REALLY need to stop reloading when I have half of a mag like I have done in every FPS ever. I was shooting zombies around Arc the Lumberjack last night and I would kill one and instinctively reload...and then a zombie would round the corner and smack him in the face while I was reloading.

I'm using the jungle raider (I think) skin and it hides my giant ass dildo shaped gunbag...but replaces it with a backpack that fits the skin...so that's pretty sweet.

That's okay. After parachuting in to the Airbase at the South West corner of the map. I loot a Some kind of M4 w/ ACOG, M9SD, gunbag, and all kinds of stuff.

I'm all excited. Headed back toward green mountain. 400m north suddenly 3 AI spawn in front of me. I gun down one in a ghile suit. Wound another. The third kills me dead.

I parachute into the same airbase. End up with a SAW249 & tons of ammo. I'm headed toward revenge & to find my body. I see AI guys in Blue & White wearing hats. I drop prone and gun them down dropping 60-70 rounds in their general direction for good measure. Got 3 murders for this though.

I'm feeling pretty good. Make it to the next town headed back to base. My wife plugs in the vacuum cleaner (like a good wife should be doing) Wink

Trips the breaker the TV & PC are on. Last I know. My guy was in a town. Filled with zombies. Running & gunning loaded with loot. I didn't have the heart to turn the PC back on to see if I got ate.

You'll probably spawn right where you were, with all your stuff.

And broken legs.

Thanks for the offer Gravebone. I may take you up on it, but with all the space in the Taj Ma-Nala out there I may be able to snag a room and just stash stuff in a crate for now.

Assuming I can get on tonight, I think my goal is to find a crappy car and run around an airbase or two looking for a better pack and a suppressed Makarov. Maybe go try chopping some trees down. I haven't done that yet. I've harvested pumpkins and hunted pigs, but no lumberjacking as of yet. The bag is probably the most critical. I wasn't paying attention and picked up a Czech vest pouch, which apparently can't hold weapons at all...which is bullshit.

What happened there was an accident, mostly my fault since I just didn't hear you say it was you. I saw you drive off in the opposite direction, so when I came over the hill and saw that shitty VW and a guy in a ghillie suit farting around next to an armed Vodnik I just assumed it was an AI looking to be naughty. It didn't help that when I asked, "who drove up to the base?" I got like three people saying, "not me!" Y'all need to knock that off, assuming you like having your friend's craniums intact.

What happened after that was the bullshit part. I got all your gear, all your gold and silver, everything off your corpse and put it in the car. I drive it back into base after announcing that's what I'm doing and that fuckhat drunk Gurney shoots me anyways because hey, he can just miracle a fix later! Then what's the fucking point of the game? Why not just spawn us all T90s? Oh, he did? Game breaking admin shit.

The Czech pouch is bullshit and I'm not even sure why it's in game since it's smaller than your starting backpack. The Czech backpack on the other hand is great, like third best in the game and it looks cool to boot.

I was able to save some of your stuff, it's up at Green Mountain unless someone moved it, none of your money though, I'm sorry. But your G36 and suppressed Makarov are up there along with some toolbelt items I think.
