From high ready/presentation you should probably knock off 1.5 or so. Shooting is a math problem. Most people will be in the neighborhood (average) of 2 seconds from true concealment to the first shot. You figure even at 2 seconds to the first shot, someone with great time management can knock off the remaining shots at a one second pace for a grand total of 7 seconds. You have an additional buffer to SHO and WHO of one second without having to shoot it “faster”. A one second pace is a chip shot at 7 yards.

Two handed was cake. RHO was do-able. LHO I figure I lost at least a second transitiong the gun from my right to left hand, plus recoil recovery took far more time because I was using part of my body that God didn't design me to use, lol. I clearly need more work.

These were all shot with my S&W M&P 2.0 Compact, by picking the gun up from the table. There were at least a couple practice targets for each target. For where I am in training, I'm more concerned with accuracy than speed. I think that speed will come with practice. The challenges that we've had since I joined the group are great training exercises and a lot of fun. I'll be gone for a few weeks, but I'll be back as soon as I can lift my M&P.

Maybe one of you can come up with a challenge that I can shoot in my basement with a pellet gun. Thirty foot max, but I would hope for a lot less.

What kind of pellet gun?

( I still need to shoot the current match for score. Maybe others, too.)

It’s a Sig M-17 Co2 gun, which is very similar to my Sig P-320.

This match protocol could be easily varied for future matches:

distance to target, par time, shot with .22 rimfire, shot with
airgun or airsoft.

I just realized that I neglected to add one second each for hitting the line on “right hand” and for missing completely on “left hand”. I also forgot the part about the pellet gun. Hey, at 76 years old I’m entitled to a bogie now & then.

Absolutely! Without wearing ears, I’ll even be able to hear my timer. I can draw from the holster, concealed not so much.

Shot it again this morning. Still didn't get it clean, or completely under time, but it was better. I did some dry fire LHO, which helped some.

P320 Fulll-Size:

6.31 Both hands, 6.68 RHO, 9.27 LHO. 16 Hits (1 just out, one on the line)

Smith Model 19 snubby:
6.70 Both Hands, 8.68 RHO, 15.22 LHO. 16 hits, one completely off paper and one that just barely clipped the edge of the paper on the right. And it was really slow.

Here's another attempt from yesterday: M9A3, open sights, assorted leftover 115GR 9MM and 124GR NATO rounds from the leftovers bowl.

Had four out, so I launched two leftover rounds in the general direction of the milk bottle, just so I wouldn't have to take them home.

Let's keep this match going until we all can ace it.

Pretty good! I don’t think I could do that well if I didn’t have a red dot.

I'm good with that! I enjoy seeing the progressive improvement.

Another day, another try. CZ TS2, 'irons' 9MM, from the table.
CED shot timer not useful, too many indoor shooters.
Practice target, no time limit. T-1 and T-2 less than 8 seconds par time.

This is hard. Whose idea was it, anyway?!?

Lol, I may have cursed your name once or twice myself on this one Big Grin.

I've been struggling with my 92X Compact lately, and decided to make a few minor tweaks last night and see if it would improve my performance. I swapped out the flush baseplates for the pinky extensions, and broke into my daughter's fingernail polish and found some bright green and clear to touch up the front sight. I decided to try it on the match target today, not thinking I'd have much chance at cleaning it, but figured it would at least be a good benchmark.

It was BAD. I kept throwing rounds, and couldn't figure out why. I didn't even bother saving the targets, they were that bad.

I finally went back to 25 yards and tried to put up a group on paper to see what the deal was. I got three rounds on and two off. Then I went 3 for 6 on the plate rack from the same distance. I was taking my time and making what I was pretty certain were good shots, and I was getting pissed.

I made Noah give me his PCR, and cleaned the plate rack first round. Then I tried again with the PCR and went 5 for 6, and felt myself throw the last one.

Now I'm REALLY pissed. I started seriously contemplating marching into the nearest shop and trying to trade this starchy spaghetti turd for some Czech goodness. But I took a breath, and decided to try some different ammo. I had a couple of mags of 124gr HST carry ammo on me, so I put 5 rounds onto the paper from 25 yards offhand and put up about a 4.5" group. Then I cleaned the plate rack.

Apparently this gun hates my 124gr plated bullet load. It's not my normal 9mm load...typically I shoot 135gr Summer's powdercoated .357" cast, but I got a deal on some of these Everglades 124s and decided to give them a try. They work fine in everything else I've shot them through, including the PCR, but they give the 92X indigestion. I'm going to have to use the rest up in something else.

So I wasted about 75 rounds of practice ammo today, but I guess I learned something.

Ladies' bathroom inventory is a veritable cornucopia of shooter's supplies:
fingernail lacquer for sights (clear for thread locker), cotton balls, Q-Tips, makeup remover pads, pull through chamber mops, cuticle pushers, acetone, isopropyl alcohol, tweezers, trimmers ...

"pull through chamber mops,"

Now that was funny...

The dern thing is a lot harder than I thought... I missed on the first shot on every one. And then I tried a "do over" and actually did worse. Here is my first try with a practice also:
