Peace through superior firepower ![]() |
New fashion colors are fine and I realize it's quite early, but since Magpul is planning to release a G17-length grip for this pistol (making, in essence, a G45), I'd love to see Ruger release a G17-length slide, which, when combined with the G17-length grip, would make, in essence, a G47. Or, perhaps Ruger will simply put their new FCU into a full-length G17 equivalent.

I swear I had something for this |
I know Zev gets around it just like Glock does with the Gen 5s barrels now being G19 barrels of length, but is that something Ruger would get in trouble for since Gen 3 Glocks don't work like that?

Remains to be seen. I haven’t seen any info on whether the Ruger’s locking block and barrel are Gen 1-4 or Gen5. If the former, then yes changing uppers and barrels will be messier. --------------------------- My hovercraft is full of eels.

I bought an RXM last week. So far, so good and I'm really enjoying it. I've got my fingers crossed for a subcompact grip frame so I can configure a 26/19 hybrid. The grip modules are only $40 and I'm tempted to chop one myself, but I'd rather not give up that nice flared magazine well. Hater of fun since 2001!

$349.95 at Battlehawk Armory. Free shipping, I think.

^^^^ Doesn't say free shipping, but at $350, that's cheapest so far. https://battlehawkarmory.com/p...d-pistol-magpul-grip Strange that the 10-round model is $50 more. https://battlehawkarmory.com/p...d-magpul-grip-pistol Q

I almost completed a check out, and it did add the tax, but where “shipping” appeared, it said 0.00. Now, maybe if I’ve taken one more step it would’ve put that in there, but since I have one, I wasn’t ready to buy another, at least not yet.

Yeah, that's how they do it. If it were really free shipping, they would have put it in the ad. And in RED. Q

Finally got mine to the range today. 250 rounds without a malfunction. Though I had a healthy case of the shakes today, I found it to be quite accurate. Pointed naturally for me, and the grip was very comfortable shooting. Great gun so far!!

This honestly seems to be the first Ruger release in many years that may not have a couple of recalls in the first year. ![]() It seems to be a solid little pistol.

Put about 200 rounds through mine. I really like it. The grip is nice and it shoots good. It is very accurate but a little high at 20 yards. My gen 4 19 started hurting the knuckle on my middle finger and this grip felt a lot better. It was a little snappy with +P critical duty ammo but very soft with FMJs. I used a mixture of Glock and magpie mags and different ammo weights with no issues.

The other day I sold my Ruger Security 9, which is a pretty good pistol, btw, and bought an RXM. The sights, grip and trigger, are definitely an improvement over a Gen 3. It gets a little more interesting when I compare it to my Gen 5 G19. Like it’s been mentioned before, the Ruger has a rolling break on the trigger that feels really good. The Gen5s’s trigger has a short take up, then a defined wall, with around a 5lb break. It’s not bad at all, but the RXM is a little lighter. I guess it really depends on if you prefer a defined wall or not. The Gen 5 grip is already an improvement over the Gen 3, so here, it’s really a toss up. If you disregard the grip angle, I’d say the Gen 5’s grip might be a little more comfortable, it seems smaller. I’ve never had a problem with glocks standard sights, but the Ruger’s are really a huge improvement. Ruger also greatly improved the optics mounting system, so a win over a Gen 5 mos there. If I were committed to using optics, and had to choose between a RXM and a Gen 5 mos, it’d be a really hard choice. Proven reliability, or a better mounting system, and a much cheaper price. Hopefully I’ll get to compare them soon at the range, and come closer to a conclusion. No one's life, liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session.- Mark Twain

I love Ruger firearms, but their semi-auto pistols and PCCs are some of the ugliest guns, in my opinion of course.[/QUOTE] Me too. Only took one early 9mm, and I was convinced.

I bought one simply to find out if they made a Glock what a Glock should be, out of the box and far less pricey. So far, I'm very pleased. Hell, the RMR I installed cost more than the gun. I'm getting close to 1000 rounds out of the box, no lube, just shooting it in all conditions other than extreme heat. I dumped a few mags to heat it up, crammed it in a snowbank until it iced over, bored out the trigger guard and fired away. Around round three after that, I even had my red dot visible from ice again and just kept shooting So far, I'm impressed for what it is. It's nothing special, it's a tool and shoots how defensive guns should. Costing far less than the equivalent Glock, having features out of the box that often have to be included later to a Glock and being an American owned and manufactured in the US company are icing on the cake. These guns typically do nothing for me but, I'm impressed. At this point, well done Ruger. Time will tell..

I have never shoot Glock pistols well. When the Glock 48 came out it was the perfect size gun for me. Even after I change the trigger and connector I still would see the front sight move during dry fire. I put over 1000 round and at least that many dry fires, but could not master the trigger. I picked up a RXM and dry fired it. The front sight didn't move. I'm going to wait a little longer to see if they come out with a 17 size pistol. If they do, I am going to pick one up and if I can shoot them as well as my P320s I may be ditching them and going to the RXM platform.

Icarus Precision has dropped their grip modules. They have a compact and full size module. https://www.icarusprecision.co...Ruger-RXM-c177965054 Not really a fan of their stuff. It’s too wild looking for my taste. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. Dang, son. At $450-$475 apiece, those grip modules are $100+ more than the gun itself.
