It seems to me that even if Glock is already considering a chassis system, Ruger and Magpul's introduction of their product will serve to push Glock in that direction, because consumers are going to find all of this quite appealing.

But, knowing Glock, the sixth generation of their design is well underway.

The RXM will be able to have a G17-length grip and a G26-length grip, merely by switching out an inexpensive part which doesn't require purchase through an FFL. Also, as previously mentioned, a shooter can purchase a frame in order to experiment with creating their own stippling, and if the results are less than desirable, the experimenter is out 50 bucks and hasn't ruined their pistol.

Companies which offer custom stippling will likely see a substantial increase in business, since the frames of these pistols are not FFL-controlled. Drop it in the mail and get in back in your mailbox, and none of this overnight shit and reticent carriers.

Even more likely, perhaps, custom stipplers will simply stock these frames and have them already to go when an order is placed.

Now, Magpul, about that G26-length grip...

I'll be glad when the full size grip becomes available.

I don't expect it to shoot like a Salient BLU, but I have just enough spare parts to make it interesting...

I must have missed it, are these partially or fully cocked?

Partially cocked. Exactly like the Gen 3 Glocks.

Because it is a Gen 3 Glock, with a Gen 3 Glock trigger group interacting with a Gen 3 Glock striker assembly.

Not merely "borrowed the concept from". Not "inspired by". Not "fairly similar"... A literal copy of the Gen 3 Glock firing system, with direct parts interchangeability.

^^^ I think you mean 'virtually', though I could be mistaken. But since the gun is devised for the entire trigger group to be housed in its own sub-frame, that part of this design is very un-Glock.

Considering the lukewarm to almost nonexistent success Ruger has had in the wundernine universe in the recent past, this move is probably a good thing for them. They see how well PSA has done with the Dagger, so why not do their own Glock clone, albeit with a slight but significant twist? It's not any different than deciding to build a 1911; taking a well-established, tried and true concept and using it to create their own version of something that has been wildly popular in the marketplace. It certainly has worked well for Springfield, Wilson Combat and Staccato.

I for one have to give props to Ruger for actually NOT doing a "literal" knockoff.

The trigger group parts being housed inside a FCU rather than directly in the frame is the only difference within the firing system. The fire control parts themselves are identical.

So no, it's not virtually a copy of Glock's Safe Action System. (Virtually = almost/nearly.) It's quite literally a direct copy of the Glock firing system with identical parts, merely residing in a different housing.

The YouTube review I saw had a 3.5 pound trigger pull. It was described as better than a Glock.

That’s fine for a range gun but pretty light for a self defense gun.

Great review by Lenny. I would guess that selling Glocks and accessories has made Lenny a Millionaire!

Lenny knows a good thing when he sees it.

I hope for Glock's sake, they already have a well designed chassis system. It would be slightly amusing if they were prevented from building the cleanest version of a chassis system because some other company had a patent on the design.

Interesting. All the reviews I've seen measure the trigger pulls on their test guns at low to mid 5 pounds, same as the factory Glocks.

I wonder if someone swapped in a different 3.5 connector into that specific one.

I handled one at my LGS over the weekend. Let me say it; I'm not a Glock fan. But at $419 and with options for grip frames and maybe a threaded bbl future version, I'd consider buying one. I don't really have a "no F's given" carry size 9mm; everything I own is collectible or not ideal for carry.

Just an old farm boy, but I think these are going to sell well. Had a chance to see one today out in Nokesville, VA – but they were too busy so I couldn’t handle it. I couldn’t see the full price tag, but it looks like it was $420 something. Main reason for this second post: they had lots of Glocks - all priced noticeably higher than before - saw a Gen 5 (I assume - it was posed on its left side) Glock 20 for … $699!! Ammo prices were fair-ish - Aguila 9mil ball for $15. Did Glock and handgun prices in general suddenly go up after Trump won??

Sigh. I wish the frame was more like the texture of a Magpul MOE AR grip, with the "soft/spongy"ness vs. the MIADness. But hopefully soon more options will be available.

Mrgunsgear review

At the beginning of the video, he shows the issue with an RDS screw interfering with the extractor depressor plunger, something we've seen before.

Once corrected with a proper length screw, all was well.

He says the trigger pull weight is 3.5 to 4 pounds and says it's better than the Glock stock pull and may even be better than the Glock Performance Trigger.

Well, Mr. Gunsngear's video may have sold me on it. I think Ruger is going to sell a ton of these.

Don’t worry, in 6 months someone will make a 1911-angle metal grip for 550$ Smile

I love Ruger firearms, but their semi-auto pistols and PCCs are some of the ugliest guns, in my opinion of course.

This is a lot less ugly than some previous Ruger semi auto pistols.

fingered one at the LGS this week. priced at $399. At that price point, why not. felt thinner in the middle than a G19 when held at same time. As noted above a G17 size grip with a 19 slide ala G45 and its a winner.

modular with FCU is a winning formula.

has anybody stuck a G23 or G32 slide on it yet and tried for 40 or 357 sig ?
