A G43 with metal magazines in .30sc would be interesting.

Down the Rabbit Hole![]() |
I never had the chance to shoot a G43 but I did get to try out a G42 a family member owns. I was amazed at how accurate I could shoot it. It makes a great backup for LE but it would be even better if it held a few more rounds. When I finally did buy a Glock, my 1st was G19 Gen5. Never fell head over heels for it and kept going back to my 1911 LW Commander. I went to a show last weekend and fondled a Gen6 G19. It was night and day between G5 and G6. So I gave my Gen5 to my son and picked up a Gen6 G19 last night. I know it doesn't make sense, but it was night and day difference to me. It just feels right. Cant wait to get to the range this weekend.

I've loved my Gen 2 G17, G19, and G21 for years. I bought and sold a few Gen 3s and 4s but didn't like the finger grooves. Had a Gen 5 G45 and liked it, but it had no optic mount, and I'm getting into optics. Once I acquired a Gen 6 G19 and then G45, my Gen 2s felt so dated in my hand. I don't know how else to put it. I'll keep my Gen 2s to hand down to the kids, but they'll be safe queens until then.

I finally got to my LGS this morning and got my first look at the Gen6 19 and 45. Pretty nice feeling and definitely a better trigger than earlier Gens, at least when dry firing. I just couldn't make up my mind between them. The 45 holds two more rounds, but the grip is longer and would be harder to conceal. OTOH I rarely conceal bigger guns like the 19 and 45, so... I got both of them. While there I found a S&W 637 that looks unfired outside the factory with the worst-and I mean the absolute worst-D/A trigger I have ever felt on a Smith J-frame. It followed me home, too, and I think I'll see my Gunsmith in a couple of days and see what he thinks might cure-or at least help-it. In the mean time, I'll wear out my trigger finger with some dry firing. Bob

Very nice! I need to get my hands on a G45 at the fun store. -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box.

I've always enjoyed the G45 at the range. While my 43X has essentially replaced my 19 for EDC, when I want to carry sidecar my 19 fits the bill. The slimness of the 43x over the 19 isn't as substantial when carrying sidecar to me.

I like my new G19 and G45, but the G43X is my carry gun and shares time with a P365. These new Gen6s are pretty unlikely to be carried concealed (and I sure ain't carrying openly). The 43X with the new 15 round mags have the same capacity as the G19. It is slim, seems lighter than the 19, conceals better, is much less bulky and I shoot it well. Either the new 19 or the new 45 will replace the G19 Gen5 I traded in for the Gen 6s-nightstand or house gun, and maybe, but probably not, an SUV gun. The 43X is, to my way of thinking, the best of the best concealed firearm for me (the P365 is a close second especially in the hotter months here in Florida). It fits the way I dress, has good capacity, a Snagmag with a second 15 round mag rides in my left front pocket and I am confident in its reliability. Bob

I went through the 43x phase. It shoots good but it never beats a G19 on performance. ________________ People hate you. Train like it.

I find the G43X to be absolutely useless and would pick a G26 to carry over it every time. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

Wow, bubbatime, that's exactly how I feel about the G26. I got one when they first came out (1994ish?) and I thought the felt recoil was more than my G27's recoil. Considering the felt recoil and chunkiness, after trying to love them but failing, I sent both the 26 and 27 down the road. I have been looking at the Glockstore's M1X complete gun for $499. It's a mixture of G26, G19 and G43X, at least that's what they say. I have been hoping someone here will buy one and post a review. Bob

Glockstore’s M1X is interesting. Magazine compatibility is one reason I haven’t considered some of the newer compact Glocks. Never cared for the G26. Well stocked on G19 and 17 mags, did not want to add another to the mix. With the M1X using G19 mags may have to try one.

I bought the M1X when it came out and had no issues at all. Love it. But I ended up throwing my 33 upper on it. OMG! This is the best setup. lol Not minority enough!

I seriously contemplated buying one of those frames. My G26 sat in the safe for years, but I ended up selling it after setting up my 43X. But already having the G19 mags and using the G17 sounds like a great idea. I think you should do it..
I loved my G33; I never carried it, but I loved shooting it. But it had to go in my caliber consolidation with all my other 40 and .357Sig handguns.

Bought a 43X, and I'm actually picking up a second 43X in an MOS today, probably. Never did get around to actually every carrying the 43X, and I even got the Radian Raptor dealio for it, too. I like them, but honestly... I still just carry a Gen 6 Glock 45. I don't care about printing - nobody notices or cares, anyways. I just carry the gun I shoot best. That said, I really do like the 43X suppressed with a Stealth Additive Shiv. It runs reliably on the factory RSA with a threaded Faxon barrel with 115 and 147gr, and it's comfortable for my 12 year old son to shoot. I figure anything that gets him interested in shooting a centerfire handgun without developing a flinch to work out is worth it right now, thus the MOS I'm picking up today. He doesn't quite have the strength yet to get a full size suppressed 9mm Glock to cycle reliably, so we're doing this first. It'll be a smaller version of his old man's 19X when I'm done setting it up, and I'll throw the Radian back in the other 43X and that can just be a summer carry for me on the very rare occasion where I actually care about printing. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” "A man who does not read has no appreciable advantage over a man who cannot read."

I legit love the 43x/48. I bought mine on a whim for a very niche reason and found that I don’t just like them as a “Glock” I like them across the spectrum. They just work for me. They fit my hands perfectly, they fit my body and conceal incredibly comfortably and they shoot fantastically for me. Better than any of the others in their peer group. For the folks talking about the M1X frame you can make a pseudo M1X/Glock 26/27/33x etc. with an X grip adapter. I realize the vast majority of you likely know this but just in case somebody doesn’t, food for thought. I do realize having the frame itself designed around the mag in question is the better option if you want full G26x etc. all the time. Again I realize most folks are thinking “is he stupid? Of course we know this.” But hey there are likely folks who just read these threads and never post/join and might not know. So I try to be helpful. Take Care, Shoot Safe, Chris

Thanks! I did not know about the X-Grip adapter. Just looked it up. May have to see if there is a low cost used G26 at one of the local gun stores. My main goal is to have a compact alternative to the G19 without another magazine to keep in inventory.

I carried a G27 with a G23 X-Grip magazine for about 8 years. No issues at all as it fit my hand nicely.

I’ve also used X-Grip adapters across several makes/models and I’ve never had an issue. The nice thing about the adapters is you can run your, 26 for example, with a 19 or 17 sized mag as much as you want but still retain the ability to go down to a flat 10 rounder if you need a more concealable gun. The downside vs a bespoke frame is reloads are either mags without the adapter or a little clunkier and a bit bulkier if you carry a reload with one attached. Take Care, Shoot Safe, Chris
