Thank you, I enjoyed that. I'd forgotten the thumb swells were part of the import points. He didn't mention that the 'target' trigger was part of those points as well. My G26 was the second pistol I ever bought in 1996. ![]() I can't remember who made these mag floorplates, but I use them to this day. ![]()

Those floorplates are GAP floorplates. I believe the company is out of business. I had a set of them years back and wish I still had them.

Forgotten Weapons is a marvelous youtube channel; indispensable and that's no exaggeration, but while Ian's gun knowledge is truly impressive, it is of course impossible for him to know everything and get everything right. He refers to the Pearce Grip floorplate as if it's Glock factory, but of course it is not. The one he has is the original version of this Pearce aftermarket part, which has no checkering. You can see one of these in the pic below of my gen2.5 G26, which is contemporary to the gen2.5 he has (his is a BPS-prefix, mine is a BVW-prefix). The one thing I learned from his video is that there are actually law enforcement only-marked G26 magazines, from the ban era. Why would they need to mark any 10 round magazine as restricted? Because those particular G26 mags came from the factory with the +2 floorplate installed. Of course there was nothing stopping anyone from installing that floorplate then or now, but it just never occurred to me that there are LE only-marked examples. And what is with that jacked up gen5 G26 at the 8:35 mark of the video? The way the slide sits on the frame looks odd. ![]()

What is the soup du jour? |
Ian's example of the Gen 5 26 has the ambi slide stop lever which removes much material. Also, the slide bottom looks looks chamfered/radiused/rounded as compared to my new 17L Gen 5. Those factors combined with the devils claw marks on the front of the Gen 5 26 make the pistol look far less elegant than prior iterations.

My Glock 26 G5 model she’s very good also carry it in Safari land holster. I put the talon pro grip tape on it and add the 2+ piece magazine extensions. This is now my daily carry even over the 43XMOS.. it’s very hard to be a Glock out of the box " The Road goes on forever and the Party never ends"

You are absolutely correct Sir. Found this on a flooring web page... ![]() Glock 26 Gap Floor Plate I had a couple for my G19 but quickly realized they were not the answer for that pistol.. ![]()

I hope I don't break any rules and am just passing this info along but I noticed at Academy Sports, they have the Glock 17 Gen 1 Classic for only $399 right now in stock in stores. I was going to get it at the store close to me in Saint Lucie County but I have more than enough full sized guns right now and don't need another ![]() Also, if you open a credit card with them, you get 5% off that price and they also have a first responder/military discount as well with an additional 10% off on top of that. I have no affiliation with them other than being a customer but am just wanting to pass along a deal when I see it to someone who is looking for a good deal on the forum here. If I am breaking any rules Para I apologize and I will delete this message.

I agree. I have a few of the GAP floor plates. They worked for me on the super short grip of the G26. I tried one on a G19 and quickly removed it from the magazine. Now that it's warm out I've swapped back to the G26 as my edc. And just like every year when this happens I remember how much I enjoy it. I shoot it better than the slimline Glocks also. Carry with the factory +2 mag & carry a G19 mag as backup. A perfect setup, for me. Of course the 19 and 45 will still be there in a few months when cooler weather starts to rear its head again, haha! _________________________ "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. You know, with all of the “uncommanded” 320 drama, today seemed like a good day to buy another Glock. A 47 with a Trijicon RMR HD. Now, if it’ll just stop raining I’ll get a training session in.

I’d be interested to see you feedback on the 47. I have t gotten to directly compare one to the 45 and 17 yet, but I did shoot a borrowed one at a match and found it to be a good shooter. I got to try out a Glock Performance Trigger the other day and really liked it. Shooting Surplus has them for $75, so I ordered two. One for my G45 carry piece, and one for my 17 that I’m going use for a match gun. Picked up an RMR 2.5 MOA off a friend that’ll go on the 45 once I get it cut for it. Also got a 407C recently in trade. On the fence about the Holosun, honestly. I initially got it because it would fit the RMR footprint that I want to stick with, but I may just end up using some store credit on an SRO for the G17. Gotta figure out whether I want a 1 or 2.5 MOA dot for USPSA and NV shoots. Probably 1 MOA. ______________________________________________ Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

^^^ I picked up a G-47 MOS about a month ago for my son’s birthday & graduation gift. Took the G-47, my G-17 3rd Gen, G-19 3rd gen out to the range and my kids got some practice in. About 3-400 of 115gr through the G-47 without any problems. Accurate as any 5th Gen Glock can be. Stock trigger is that of any other 5th Gen. No light or RDS yet, but one day. It fits in my G-17 holsters just fine. Then I cranked out about 100 rounds. I like it! If I had to start all over again, or was new to this game, I’d have no problem grabbing a G-47 MOS as a duty weapon. It’s just a re-designed version of a G-17. I can’t feel any weight or balance difference in it over my G-17. It’s just as accurate. It’s a 5th Gen, so you have the options for the back straps. Let’s face it- It’s a GLOCK. A chunk of polymer and metal that’s going to go “BANG” when you pull the trigger, and put that piece of lead/copper where you want it. Every time. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Outfit called Concealable Control used to make the floorplates. Called them GAP floorplates if memory serves. Not sure if they are still around. Now some folks called Gee Plate make them. Just about the same thing. I have both. They really lock your hand in place and don't make the 26 any larger than factory. https://geeplate.com/ "And I think about my loves, well I've had a few. In short, you’ll find that the 45 and 47 are really similar. They share the same recoil system. The longer more drawn out answer is that the 47 is a little less punchy than the 45. If I had to assign a number to it, it is maybe 10-15 percent less punchy. The 17 and 34 both have a slower, rolling type recoil pattern while the 19, 45 and 47 are a little more sharp up and down. The results are that the 19, 45 and 47 are a little faster if you have a grip that can exploit it. Shooting when it comes to speed and accuracy has evolved over the last 35 years. It’s really evolved over the last 5. And evolution is a good thing. When you look at what’s changed over the last 5 years, you have a greater appreciation for the skill. Prior to 5 years ago, trigger control was king. Through evolution we’ve learned that grip and vision are higher on the food chain than we gave them credit for.

I think I have learned that I prefer a faster, sharper recoil impulse to a longer more drawn out one. I think it’s one of the reasons, at least subconsciously, I’ve always been more drawn to compacts vs full size guns. I love the G45 platform. Take Care, Shoot Safe, Chris
