Regarding that Trump Golden Glock, have you ordered it from Palmetto yet?

Reason I'm asking is I tried ordering from them yesterday and today and couldn't get it done. Their website jammed on the address verification page. I tried calling and their phone does some beeps and disconnects. I tried messaging them and haven't heard back.

What's your experience?

Well, after dropping a GPT into both my G17 and G45, I have a mixed opinion. The trigger pull itself is massively improved. I'm not sure if the reset is improved, but it seems longer. On the fifty or so dry-fires apiece to function check and kind of settle everything in, I noticed some occasional binding while retracting the slide. Not sure what that's all about.

My big complaint is I didn't realize these would disable a safety feature I frankly like about Glocks, and that's that the trigger remains pulled to the rear on an empty chamber when you dry fire it. I can see a pistol isn't chambered just by looking at it, just like I can tell an AR isn't chambered because you can't put it on safe. This rebounding trigger stuff will take some getting used to, I suppose. I know, every gun is always loaded and all that, but still....

The other safety feature lost with a GPT trigger is the traditional Glock DA pull. The GPT fully cocks the striker.
The stock trigger on my G45 is a thing of beauty after a couple thousands of rounds. The 43X has been a gritty mess which I finally got around to smoothing out with a deburring, but still not as smooth as the 45.

I’ve been thinking about splurging on the Evolution X Combat from Johnny Glock for the 43x, since I’m now a single handgun manufacturer user. Glocks are boring AF and the simplification is liberating. Too old for drama too.

I definitely feel that hump you mentioned, and I had noticed it was more pronounced with the G45 than the G17.

Hmmm. I'll give it a few range trips with each equipped with the GPT and see what I think. I made sure to set aside the stock triggers and kept track of which one was in which gun. The G45 might end up going back to stock since it's my carry gun and I am very used to how it works. I'll probably give everything a thorough deburr and polish first. It's got a few thousand rounds through it, but I think the trigger could stand a bit more smoothing yet. The G17... I guess we'll see.

I still have other handguns, notably Beretta and Sig classic models, but they're range guns and collectibles. I'm right there with you as far as any kind of serious role, I just want simple. The GPT feels a bit like moving away from that to a degree I didn't quite anticipate. I suppose if I had read up more, I would've known what to expect, but here we are.

I appreciate your and others' input on the GPT.
I thought about one for my G45 and asked the kids to get me one for Father's Day.
But the more I researched it, I told them to hold off on it.

I don't feel I shoot enough to gain from the benefits of the GPT.
I'd rather all my Glocks have a somewhat similar trigger pull. Cool

That's just me though.

I shot the G17 today, six magazine's worth, so 102 rounds. I had to stop myself from loading all of them back up and just burning through it. Massive improvement, a ton of fun to shoot. The jury may still be out on whether I like the fully cocked striker aspect of it, but there's no denying that the simple act of just pulling the trigger is far better.

At the absolute least, I can see me leaving it in the G17 for a USPSA limited or carry optics gun once I figure out what I'm going to do for an optic. It's down to an SRO or 507 Comp, and the idea of saving a little coin and getting a green dot is starting to edge out the SRO. Picking up that RM06 off a friend this Sunday and that'll go on the G45. I intend to put in as much range time with these two as I can this year. I want to push myself to the next level as a pistol shooter.

I’m bouncing back and forth between the 17 and 47 quite a but. Numbers tell me that out to about 15 yards I can’t find a difference in them.

Distance seems to hold a difference. Going to make sure what I’m seeing is repeatable before I speak on it.

Well, I just bought another Glock Gen 5 G17L. I had already handled it, earlier, at the local enabler, er, gun store. They ran a Father’s Day discount, on in-stock firearms, on Saturday, so, I got on the website, to see if any G26 pistols had become available. Well, no G26 pistols were available, so, I added the 17L to my cart, and then checked-out.

Why “another” G17L? Well, I like the 17L, and, if I recall correctly, it is on the list of to-be-discontinued models. If I really like a pistol, I do tend to buy spares.

Some think that the 17L is “too big,” but, using the Handgun Hero site’s overlay feature, a 17L can be seen to be within the size envelope of a 4” medium-frame S&W revolver. To me, that is not too big, but, just right, for shootin’, if not daily concealment. Notably, the Glock G17 is in the size envelope of a Colt Commander, which is of the perfect size for daily packin’, as I see it. Life is good.

A friend of mine picked up a Gen 5 17L a few months ago. I got to shoot it. It definitely didn't do anything to curtail my irrational desire for one. I've wanted a 17L for years, I don't care which generation. I feel like I would jump at the chance for a clean Gen 1 in a heartbeat, but I'd probably actually shoot a Gen 5 often enough to make it worthwhile.

I got a G20 Gen5 MOS earlier this week. It will go with my Marlin SBL in 45-70.
