Never miss an opportunity to be Batman! |
Cyborg, if you are going to CCW it, I would go with the G19. I carry a 229 on duty but carry a G19 off duty (I also have a HK P2000 that has worked its way into the rotation). I can carry the 229 off duty but I have to really adjust my wardrobe and I am still in the process of finding a good IWB holster for it (damn holster collection is getting expensive). With G19 it is no problem and have a Comptac Minotaur that works great with it. Don't discount the polymer pistol, especially in your environment. The polymer and tennifer treated pistol won't be as suspectible to rust.

+1 It's nice to take the 19 off at night and not worry about wiping it down. I've know LEOs who never wiped their guns down. Can't do that with metal guns unless you like rust on it. SIGnature: Jere

Be prepared for loud noise and recoil |
Not sure if it matters to you, but the Glock finish is pretty amazing. It is a true "Fire and Forget" pistol. As in, you can forget about cleaning it for a while and it won't matter. When you do decide to clean it, it is amazingly easy to detail strip. They are truly the AK-47's of the pistol world. G19.... I carried mine around today in a Milt Sparks VMII to get used to it again. I was doing yard work, and sweating pretty good. Didn't care because it was a Glock. It stayed tight with the Beltman I was wearing too. I was thinking that she fit pretty comfortable. The HK USPc .45 is thicker in the slide as well as the G30sf. So carrying those two would be kind of uncomfortable, both of those were/are(?) contenders to be my off duty carry pistol. I'm issued a 229R for on duty carry, and trying to carry that IWB to me is like the other two .45's, thick in the slide. But the G19 w/ 31 rds of HST's is hard to beat.....so the G19 is ahead by a mile right now.

I cc my Glock 32 all the time, its light, easy to shoot and will take a beating. It holds 13rds of 357sig and I really cant complain about the accuracy. I use a crossbreed super tuck with a belt from the belt man and the gun really disapears the only thing I feel is the weight of the gun nothing else. IMO the crossbreed super tuck is a great holster that you can get in a week and not 6 months. http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/ M11-A1, P365XL, P320, Colt Commander, Springfield EMP "I'm not sick, I'm twisted. DONT GIVE UP HOPE! RESISTANCE IS NOT FUTILE! Seriously though, I was about 5 minutes from buying a Glock before I decided to go back for some more research. It is pretty hard to break a gun with that few moving parts, I'll give them that much. ____________________________ Sometimes I amaze even myself

I too was corrupted by the "Dark Side" of the polymer some years ago. My original P228 two tone was nice but then one day the tremors of the force were too great and the second gen G19 came home with me. Lo...it was not to be, the wife shot it and hence it left me! (her gun of choice) I vowed I would never be tempted again by the iniquity of the dark plastic but again on an early morn I was lured by the promiscutiy that was the G26 that now lives in my pants. Oh happy day! I have freed myself of the sheltered angst! -Dtech __________________________ "I've got a life to live, people to love, and a God to serve!" - sigmonkey "Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value." - Albert Einstein "A man can never have too much red wine, too many books, or too much ammunition" ― Rudyard Kipling

I thought I liked the 26 too until I got the 19. Now the 19 is my best friend. Just seems like my hand finds it on my hip quicker than it did the 26.This message has been edited. Last edited by: jeremiahjj, SIGnature: Jere

The 19 definitely feels great and mine (<smack> OUCH! sorry honey!)...err my wife's G19 is EXTREMELY accurate to the point it gives my W. German P228 a run for its money. I still LOVE my P228 as it is my first SIG, but I keep it as more of a "special occasion safe queen" than a daily carry or regular range gun. The G26 is just plain comfortable to carry and shoot, not to mention the accuray/precision is almost as good at the G19, even with the short sight radius. It helps to put a plus two extension on the mags if you want more grip but I carry the plus two as a spare with a standard cap in the gun for max concealment. -Dtech __________________________ "I've got a life to live, people to love, and a God to serve!" - sigmonkey "Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value." - Albert Einstein "A man can never have too much red wine, too many books, or too much ammunition" ― Rudyard Kipling

the 33. I bought one not too long ago for ccw. LOVE IT, was my first glock too, and not my last since two others appeared soon after. Very snappy, lots of flash and loud as hell. Find some winchester rangers and practice. That ammo shoots VERY well. On a side note, I took this to a rifle range and popped off a few at 50m, took some time (5 rounds) to find the target, but after that, piece o cake. After about 50 days I have about 250 rounds through it. No, its not a 9mm range gun. You will love it, you might sleep with it, and I don't think it will be your last one.

You should consider that you live in arizona and how you dress - smaller and lighter is better. Buy a sub compact. Stay out of Nogales.

I think my extention is a Plus 3 Pearce -- I'll have to check to be sure since I don't carry it anymore. That kicks the capacity up the 13. Not bad for a little gun. Buffalo Bore ammo sends out 115-grain projectiles at 1400 fps and 500 ft/lbs of energy. That's 357 Sig power! Of course, my G20 moves a 180-gr. projectile out at the same speed and has 762 ft/lbs of energy. :-) But it takes a second or two to come back on target. 9mm is better for every-day CCW. I liked my glock 23....until the slide fell off the frame and fell to the ground during a recent IDPA style match. Changed my opinion somewhat considering that these are our duty firearms.

Countrygun, WHY did the slide fall off your weapon? I'm not doubting that it did, but there has to be a reason why. If it did it once, it could do it again, which could be a good thing. Replication would enable a good gunsmith to tell us why it happened. SIGnature: Jere
