Every time I chance upon this thread and read the title "You will buy a Glock", those are not the words that I hear in my mind. My inner voice always pronounces the title as "You will shoot yourself in the Face". Hmmm.

Well, not quite up and running just yet. KKM arrived, bench kit arrived, bullets arrived, got powder and (hooray!) found 2750 primers. Had to drive almost to Utah to find 'em, but I did it. All but 200 are large magnum pistol primers. One experienced reloader and nationwide distributor said if I was going to use large magnum primers I should decrease the propellant 10 percent and work back up from there 0.01 grains at a time, watching out for flattened primers and split cases.

One end user I ran into (he had five presses in his shop -- FIVE!!!) said he shoots magnum primers all the time and has no problem. However, I noticed that most of his shooting seemed to be rifle and shotgun loads. Besides, I like the idea of being safe and think I will stick with the first person's advice.

But I definitely will shoot reloads in the KKM and factory loads in the factory barrel. I kinda wanted the black Lone Wolf barrel because it looks better in a solid black pistol, but chose the KKM instead only because that's what a bunch of seemingly expert pistol reloaders on another forum are using. They weren't boosting the KKM or anything. I was just lurking/trolling to see what I could learn, and it seemed most of them were using the KKM. I'm sure Lone Wolf and Barstow barrels are good too. And probably cheaper -- the KKM was $165!

I like the simplicity, reliability, price, and after market support of Glocks.

I do not like the grip or the point of aim.

The HK USPc point so naturally for me it is unreal. It also fits my hand great.

I still feel inclined to buy the Glock over the HK USPc for duty...

How important is the “natural point of aim” in a self defence situation? The Glock is ok, but I usually have to adjust my grip to get a good sight picture.

Well, we can't all be great shots or safe gun handlers. Don't be too hard on yourself.

The "natural point of aim" thing, after transitioning between platforms, I believe it is 99% a matter of how/what you practice with. When I was shooting Sigs all the time, picking up a Glock definitely felt weird; I had to adjust to get the sights on target, etc. That is why I didn't get one for a long time.

After spending some time running the Glock, other platforms started to feel weird, and now I would have to go throug the same transition again to use something else "naturally".

The difference is enough that I don't like to mix and match platforms anymore, which means my non-Glocks are now pretty much safe queens. That is the one unfortunate thing about Glocks; to be at your best I think you have to be "all in".

With me, I have no problem going back and forth with Glocks and SIGs. I work with both a lot and when I grip one or the other muscle memory takes over.

I have always found the grip angle of the Glock to be an asset and not "wrong" as many term it. These pistols are simply designed for combat and not target. God forbid, if you ever face a person actually trying to kill you, one will usually draw and shove the pistol directly towards the threat and here shooting styles/techniques/platforms go out the window. Upon full extension of the arms in this crisis the wrists will bend slightly down-thus the Glock grip angle. Take you hand and point at something rapidly while extending your arm fully. Reach as far as you can to your "target" and then look at your hand-you could place a Glock perfectly in that hand at that moment.

This thread is becoming IMMORTAL !!! Bill

HK, Glock, Walther and SIG are my choice in handguns.
Weapon Shield CLP for all pistol care.

I have an idea. Everyone contributes whatever he thinks it's worth to lock the thread -- time, talent or treasure (but mostly treasure). Then, when Para thinks this effort has run its course, he shuts it down. I'll serve as the treasure bank. Please send your contributions to PO Box 848, Divide, CO 80814. Smile

Gents,

My answer to this is: NO, I won't buy a Glock. Had them, sold them, will not own another.

Don't start...If I wanted abuse I'd go visit the Glock Forum.

The three pistols worth having are Colt 1911 Series 70/80, Browning/FN Hi-Power, and Sig Sauer.

Yup, time to start a new thread...

Little confused there, aren't you, Wes? No one has forced you to post in this thread.

A friend of mine is going to buy a Glock 26 or 19. Probably the 26.

My service weapon is a Glock 22. I shoot it well. I like it enough. So much that I went out and bought a sequential pair of Glock 23s in OD. One for my off duty weapon and one for my son's first birthday. Yes, it will be 20 years before I can transfer to it but I wanted to make sure I bought him his first pistol.

Just for the record that makes 3 Glocks and 6 Sigs. A healthy enough balance for me.

I can always be wrong. I can always change my thinking over time. But at this point, I do not see myself buying a glock.
