Well, I finally bought 3 Glocks...sorta. “People have to really suffer before they can risk doing what they love.” –Chuck Palahnuik Be harder to kill: https://preparefit.ck.page

I like it but still like the 17 more. Once I got the 34 I made the 17 a winter carry gun. The 17 is by far my favorite of all the Glocks. If you have a 17 already by all means get a 34. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I keep going back and forth between getting the G17 MOS or the G34 MOS for Christmas....yes, yes...I know buy both of them but can only get one now. The only thing that irks me a little on the G34 is the open slide cutout, but not a deal breaker. I'm actually leaning toward the G17 MOS as the "allaround" best choice for target / home / car duty but the stock lighter trigger and adjustable iron sights on the G34 are attractive. I do plan on putting an optic on them sooner or later though. -Dtech __________________________ "I've got a life to live, people to love, and a God to serve!" - sigmonkey "Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value." - Albert Einstein "A man can never have too much red wine, too many books, or too much ammunition" ― Rudyard Kipling

Actually the cutout is why I want a G34. Have you seen any videos of the G34 with the S3F Solutions ported barrel?

Yep ... and that's all you need to know If you really want something you'll find a way ... ... if you don't you'll find an excuse. I'm really not a "kid" anymore ... but I haven't grown up yet either

Actually no, but then again, I'm not a big fan of ported barrels either. I have shot a G24 with a ported barrel and it shot really nice, but again, not a fan of porting in general. I don't consider the 9mm to have much need or benefit from it anyway IMHO. -Dtech __________________________ "I've got a life to live, people to love, and a God to serve!" - sigmonkey "Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value." - Albert Einstein "A man can never have too much red wine, too many books, or too much ammunition" ― Rudyard Kipling

I finally put some Talon Grips on my G26. They make a big difference in that I feel like I have a solid grip on the gun even with my pinky hanging off the grip. I previously put some on my G41 and really like them on it too. It's my 5" 1911.

I've been fairly good at avoiding this thread for the past year and a half. I admit I do come here and catch up from time to time often followed by desire for another Glock. Between March of 2014 and March 2015, I purchased four Glock pistols. Right now I am fighting the urge to get a G17 or better yet, a G34. I'm leaving before some starts posting about the Glock 40.

The 17 was the first Glock. You must have one. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

The Glock 19 was my first Glock. I suppose, if I could have only one, the G19 would be my choice.

I compare Glocks and Sigs and think of a finely tuned Swiss watch -- Rolex maybe, or one of those other watches the WSJ features every day. Or maybe a BMW or Lexus automobile. The Glock is a Volkswagen bug. It does everything it was designed to do. Put quite simply, it works. It gets you from Point A to Point B (in Glock terminology it hits what you're aiming at) without making a big deal out of it. And it keeps on doing it round after round after round. Anyone watching the aftermarket full-auto version rattle off 1200 rapid-fire roungs ought to run right out and buy one. Or two or three. No one has tried that with a Sig or other make pistol. I wouldn't try it either (but I also secretly own Sigs). They're not named and I don't fondle them late at night and call them by the love that knows no other name (good line, Para!) I just like my guns -- all of 'em, otherwise I wouldn't keep 'em around. SIGnature: Jere

I like the Volkswagen BUG... see my avatar So it's fitting I like and trust fully my 2nd hand Glock 19 and my ability with it. Ergonomics aren't that great and my hand is a bit large for the grip and in CA I get only 10 rounds. The G19 is a bit thick IWB compared to other guns & there is no thumb safety... The G19 is the gun I'd rather not like... but darned if I do... it doesn't make logical sense.. except I know it works for me better than nearly anything in 9mm and I just love it. I've had over 100 handguns... I'm down to 2 semiautos. A 1911 and a G19..

To me the Glock is the Aprilia 250 on the track, or the 90's Honda Accord on the road. On the track you ride your 2016 R1 and get spanked by the 250 because the 250 rider is more skilled. On the road, the old Accord, with simple minimal maintenance just keeps going. You tick 300k on the odometer and it just keeps going. In a world of complex tools, Glock made the simplest tool, so the brand or design is the very definition of Occam's Razor. The simplest theory is the most workable. I don't particularly like Glocks. It took Gen 4 OEM beavertails to get me to tolerate and like the grip, which I do, particularly on the 17, 19, and 26. I don't particularly like the trigger neither, much preferring the mechanical feel and nature of a tuned DA/SA trigger of a Sig, Sphinx, Tanfoglio, or metal CZ. I even like the Beretta DA/SA better. But, at speed, running a pistol fast, like in a defensive situation or practicing for one, the Glock trigger is as good as anything else. The shooter is the problem or issue, not the weapon. And it is saying something, for me, to have a 15 or 17 round pistol in my waste and it not be a pant sagger like my previous all metal ccw's. They are light. All this time has passed since they were first introduced to the market and they are generally still the lightest things around, for whatever size you want to pick. So back to the analogies. While they will be the rarest pick for the weekend car, track car, or fun car for anyone but the fanboi they are the best daily drivers ever produced in pistols. For a daily driver they cannot be beat when you factor everything in. Simplicity, weight, capacity, accessories, sights, holsters, purchase price, part cost, and especially magazine cost. And the end user needn't be a gunsmith to work on the pistol, either modification or mainentance. You can even take an armorer's course and be a master technician yourself. Everyone and their dog has tried to get their money, just about every manu tossing their hat in the ring with their copycat version trying to get some. Even with competition from every manu they still prevail. That should tell you something when one manu has everyone in the industry coming for their throat and they still continue to sell every got damn one they make and still have a line forming to get it. I'm a DA/SA snob and I daily carry a 17 or 19 in the winter, and either a 19, 26, or 43 in the summer. God help me, Hell hath frozen over. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I've gone back and forth multiple times between Sig and Glock for a number of purposes (home, carry, competition), but always come back to Glock. They fit my hand, feel good to shoot and even my wife likes the simplicity of them. But after Prefontaine posted his lineup all stacked together, I now feel that my 43, 26, 19 and 17 really miss their 34 brother... Geez, this forum costs me so much money!!! ___________________________ "Those that can't laugh at themselves leave the job to others..."

Up until very recently, I didn't own any Glocks. Last month I went to a local shop and almost bought a BNIB complete CCF Alloy raceframe, and instead went down the street and bought a G19.4 blue label for $415. Yesterday, I went back to the shop and picked up the Raceframe as well with plans to build a high end "G17".

Were it not for the early G17s that I shot and its even worse (for me) later finger grooved generations, I would very likely have owned a Glock MANY years ago. All the G19 hub-bub on this board got me looking again. I found out that a Gen 2 G19 w/o finger grooves fits my hand reasonably well as I was no longer naturally pointing at the ceiling (slight exaggeration). The recent G26 (Gen 3) I got actually fits even better, although it could use a bit of finger relief at the back of the trigger guard (for me). Maybe a G17 w/o finger grooves and an adjustable back strap (Gen 5 perhaps) might work though. ----------------------------------- Regards, Steve The anticipation is often greater than the actual reward
