The LGS has a real nice condition G17 Gen 1. They were asking too much for me to rationalize buying a third G17. It almost happened.

"Almost" is because what you really want is a G-32...It's a G-19 on steroids...That will put you over the finish line.

Because it is one of the (if not the very one) best modern day combat pistols ever made.
That is a start.. Big Grin

They also have a nice Winchester M12 riot gun, a Galil that calls my name, and I need a new upper for my LMT lower. I already have a Gen 3 and a Gen 2 Glock 17. Too many guns, not enough money.

~$450 with some type of holster, and it has those silly adjustable Glock sights. I forget if it was a consignment or not.

Wow, in good condition, for $450, I'd be all over that.
I've got stock plastic sights in my gun box, but I'd probably put stock steel sights on it.
I want a Gen 1 G17 just to have the original..

I still think Glocks are ugly, but I have a 19.

If I had to move into a cave in Montana and defend myself againt the world, My Model 19 would be with me. I'd still take the P938 to look at, but I'd shoot things with the 19.

Because it holds 15 rounds with a flush mag where other pistols of this size hold between 8-13 rounds.
It has the largest aftermarket next to a 1911.
It has a proven track record going back 25 years.
Mags are cheap and plentiful.
The pistol itself is cheap compared to Sig or HK with similar reliability and quality of design.
It's big enough to get a full grip and has the same sight radius as much larger pistols.
It's small enough that I easily and comfortably conceal carry one every day under a polo shirt.
If it doesn't fit your hand good or just doesn't feel right it's only a few minutes of dremel time away from being a custom fit.

I have a G33 and the reason why I bought it was because I figure I could always get a .40 and 9mm barrel to convert.

Can you do the same with the 32?

Because it's smaller than a G34. Smile

Yes, if you get the G32 you can drop in a G23 40 S&W barrel, or an aftermarket 9mm. But NOT if you buy the G19. If you buy the G19 you can't change from 9mm to anything else.

That's as much as I've read. But then again, I don't plan to do conversions.

Because its the consummate Glock! It just does everything so well!
Even though I just bought a 26, I find myself still going back to the 19. Dale

Because it is, Glock advertising aside, pretty close to being a perfect pistol. Small enough to conceal, big enough to shoot easily, tons of aftermarket stuff, and extremely reliable.

It's like an 80's Honda Accord.
Sexy? No.
Cool? Sure.... in an appliance-like kind of way.
Best at everything? Well... not exactly.

Does it always work? Pretty much!
What are it's maintenance requirements? Not a lot.

I like it for it's appliance-like nature. Wipe it off once in a while and it's pretty much always going to work as designed.

Pestered my local Cabela's for the past few months and finally tracked this down. G30 S in .45!
