I downloaded Brave just now, haven't imported anything. Will try it tomorrow. Yesterday I replaced my Text Messenger (Android, more google) with Signal. I like it but am still working out usability. I enabled two step Verification and it seems to want that every time. I also downloaded and setup ProtonMail and Proton VPN on my Phone today. It seems nice so I will be trying to divorce from Gmail completely over the coming days. The wife renewed AmazPrime about a month ago, we'll see about cancelling. Maybe you can call them and get a prorata refund or something. I guess there isn't a possibility for a 100% divorce from Google.

I can get that page, but Mozilla Firefox is not listed as a browser there. Maybe I need an update to Brave, but I can't find a way to do that.
Mine is version 1.18.78 Open the menu (three horizonal lines upper right) and click "About Brave" near the bottom of the list. It will indicate version, if it is up to date or if you can update the version. This whole business probably should have been in its own thread. Bald1 I noticed on the Brave website you can download older versions, I just never went there. I have the same problem with no firefox or mozilla listing. I am wondering if adblock or Ublockorigin or something else is making it 'invisible' effectively.

I've done both the things mentioned as possible fixes and still no Firefox listed. I check my version of Brave and it gave Version 0.60.45 Chromium: 72.0.3626.109. Just above that it said it had not been able to update Brave and recommended a reinstall. When I clicked on that it brought up a page to install Chrome, which is not what I want. ETA: Apparently I'd never created an account with Brave, so that may be the problem. I am trying to do that now, but it has tried twice to send me an e-mail with instructions on how to complete the registration, but neither of them have arrived. I have gone directly to Yahoo Mail, bypassing Outlook, and no message there, either (or in the Spam folder). flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

flashguy, I know your best friend installed it but it sounds like something is screwy (very old version ) and you need to remove it and install it clean from the Brave website. 83v45magna, you might need to do the same. Must have Firefox closed when you import from it into Brave. I say this because, brand new to Brave, I went to their site, downloaded, installed clean, imported from Firefox, and added extensions all without any issues at all. Made this move as I am, like many, trying to rid myself of as many anti-Trump tech related products / apps as possible! FWIW I'm running Microsoft Windows 10 Home (x64) Build 19042.685 (20H2) Gonna look at installing Brave on my Android phone as well. Yeah, that M14 video guy... |
Thanks guys! Just installed Brave on my mac. I had to import my bookmarks from Safari to firefox, then from firefox to Brave. I'm good, but it didn't import passwords, so I have to open my keychain if I can't remember a password. Tony. When I cancelled ours all it did was cancel the auto-renew. It won't be truly cancelled until May. Nothing I could do about that, but I did remove from our watch list anything on it that was chargeable. I would have cancelled it with immediate effect if I could have--I'm that pissed.
That is what I ran in to at first. I got on the chat and requested it be closed immediately and the balance of Prime refunded and Saddam (go figure) made it happen.

And chance we can get this thread back on topic? There are rumors that before Amazon took Parlar down last night that PDJT posted he pardoned Assange and Snowden, then signed the insurrection act.

I think this could be a good thing. The media will not be able to hide this. Everyone can easily see that it was not idle chatter or a conspiracy. Big Tech, the Democrat/Socialist are attacking free speech. So liberals will even recognize this as an attack on their freedom. “We’re in a situation where we have put together, and you guys did it for our administration…President Obama’s administration before this. Please advise if this is a dupe. Looks like some protesters are being let go without charges, at least if your father says you are a good kid. Prosecutors won't proceed with charges against Michigan woman arrested during Capitol insurrection https://www.detroitnews.com/st...storming/6602945002/ The younger Grimes was arrested a few blocks north of the White House, just under two miles from the Capitol building under siege. She was charged with carrying a pistol without a license, carrying unregistered ammunition and carrying a large capacity ammunition feeding device — which Washington, D.C., law describes as a "magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device" that's capable of accepting more than 10 rounds of ammunition. But that gun and ammunition didn't belong to Leslie, her father said — in fact, she didn't know it was there until the police discovered it. If convicted, Grimes' charges could have put her behind bars for up to nine years or cost her more than $27,000 in fines. ________________________________________________________ You never know...

If this opinion piece from The Wall Street Journal about the Trump presidency is too much of a thread drift from some of the vital topics being discussed on the last few pages, please forgive me, but I thought it might be of interest to some people who participate here. =============================================== No, Trump Isn’t Guilty Of Incitement By Jeffrey Scott Shapiro House Democrats have drafted an article of impeachment that accuses President Trump of “incitement to insurrection.” Acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin said Thursday that his office is “looking at all actors here and anyone that had a role” in the Capitol riot. Some reporters have construed that as including Mr. Trump. The president didn’t commit incitement or any other crime. I should know. As a Washington prosecutor I earned the nickname “protester prosecutor” from the antiwar group CodePink. In one trial, I convicted 31 protesters who disrupted congressional traffic by obstructing the Capitol Crypt. In another, I convicted a CodePink activist who smeared her hands with fake blood, charged at then-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in a House hearing room, and incited the audience to seize the secretary of state physically. In other cases, I dropped charges when the facts fell short of the legal standard for incitement. One such defendant was the antiwar activist Cindy Sheehan. Hostile journalists and lawmakers have suggested Mr. Trump incited the riot when he told a rally that Republicans need to “fight much harder.” Mr. Trump suggested the crowd walk to the Capitol: “We’re going to cheer on brave senators and congressmen and -women, and we’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them. Because you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong.” In the District of Columbia, it’s a crime to “intentionally or recklessly act in such a manner to cause another person to be in reasonable fear” and to “incite or provoke violence where there is a likelihood that such violence will ensue.” This language is based on Brandenburg v. Ohio (1969), in which the Supreme Court set the standard for speech that could be prosecuted without violating the First Amendment. The justices held that a Ku Klux Klan leader’s calls for violence against blacks and Jews were protected speech. The court found that Clarence Brandenburg’s comments were “mere advocacy” of violence, not “directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action . . . likely to incite or produce such action.” The president didn’t mention violence on Wednesday, much less provoke or incite it. He said, “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.” District law defines a riot as “a public disturbance . . . which by tumultuous and violent conduct or the threat thereof creates grave danger of damage or injury to property or persons.” When Mr. Trump spoke, there was no “public disturbance,” only a rally. The “disturbance” came later at the Capitol by a small minority who entered the perimeter and broke the law. They should be prosecuted. The president’s critics want him charged for inflaming the emotions of angry Americans. That alone does not satisfy the elements of any criminal offense, and therefore his speech is protected by the Constitution that members of Congress are sworn to support and defend. Mr. Shapiro served as an assistant attorney general of the District of Columbia, 2007-09. He is a White House appointed official at the U.S. Agency for Global Media.
