A slight but related thread drift.

Smithsonian Channel has an episode on “America’s Hidden Stories” called “Pandemic-1918” about the mis-named Spanish Influenza outbreak. The program was first aired in March 2019. Very interesting and similar to what we’ve all been going through since January 2020.

Now, if I could just kick this cough.
My wife appears to be completely over it now, seven days after the infusion treatment, and about fourteen days after first noticing it.

The fact that members of Congress have become lobbyists is nothing new. When Trent Lott made his remarks about Strom Thurmond he lost his job as Senate Majority Leader. So he and another former Senator formed a Big Pharna lobbying firm. The system is wide open for corruption.

Don't worry the government is right on top of the 1918 flu pandemic. In fact they dug up some bodies in the permafrost of Alaska who died from the Spanish flu, and then reconstructed the virus. Mad

Some government bureaucrats have the keys to a new pandemic.

Reconstruction of the 1918 Influenza Pandemic Virus

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/qa/1918flupandemic.htm

CDC researchers and their colleagues successfully reconstructed the influenza virus that caused the 1918-19 flu pandemic, which killed as many as 50 million people worldwide. A report of their work, “Characterization of the Reconstructed 1918 Spanish Influenza Pandemic,” was published in the October 7, 2005 issue of Science. The work was a collaboration among scientists from CDC, Mount Sinai School of , the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, and Southeast Poultry Research . The following questions and answers describe this important research and related issues.

Note: For a detailed historical summary of this work, including how it was conducted, the people involved, and the lessons learned from it, see The Deadliest Flu: The Complete Story of the Discovery and Reconstruction of the 1918 Pandemic Virus.
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandem...tion-1918-virus.html

What are the reasons for doing these experiments?
The influenza pandemic of 1918-19 killed an estimated 50 million people worldwide, many more than the subsequent pandemics of the 20th century. The biological properties that confer virulence to pandemic influenza viruses have not traditionally been well understood and warranted further study. Research to better understand how the individual genes of the1918 pandemic influenza virus contribute to the disease process provide important insights into the basis of virulence. This kind of information has helped health officials to devise appropriate strategies for early diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, should a similar pandemic virus emerge. Additionally, such research informs the development of general principles with which we can better design antiviral drugs and other interventions against all influenza viruses with enhanced virulence.

Is the 1918 influenza virus a select agent?
The Intra-governmental Select Agents and Toxins Technical Advisory Committee convened on September 30, 2005, and recommended that the reconstructed 1918 influenza virus be added to the list of HHS select agents. Following this recommendation, CDC amended its regulations and designated all reconstructed replication competent forms of the 1918 pandemic influenza virus containing any portion of the coding regions of all eight gene segments (reconstructed 1918 Influenza virus) as a select agent.

What is the Select Agent Program?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regulates the possession, use and transfer of select agents and toxins that have the potential to pose a severe threat to public health and safety. The CDC Select Agent Program oversees these activities and registers all laboratories and other entities in the United States of America that possess, use or transfer a select agent or toxin.

The U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Agriculture (USDA) published final rules for the possession, use, and transfer of select agents and toxins (42 C.F.R. Part 73, 7 C.F.R. Part 331, and 9 C.F.R. Part 121) in the Federal Register on March 18, 2005. All provisions of these final rules supersede those contained in the interim final rules and became effective on April 18, 2005.

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandem...tion-1918-virus.html

The fully reconstructed 1918 virus was striking in terms of its ability to quickly replicate, i.e., make copies of itself and spread infection in the lungs of infected mice. For example, four days after infection, the amount of 1918 virus found in the lung tissue of infected mice was 39,000 times higher than that produced by one of the comparison recombinant flu viruses.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Good grief. Bulldoze the set of The View with these yammering twits on it.

BTW, did you know 44% of the population is almost half? I'll bet they all whipped out their phones to get to the calculator on that one, huh?

You paid $155 million for this. Didn't help a single sick person.

One last update on your tax dollars at work, and a look at government contracts in general.

The last structure was gone over two months ago. But a few dozen temporary lighting units get fueled up every couple days, they come on mid day and run all night. We wouldn't want anyone to steal the bare dirt field and empty parking lot!

In actuality it's "Well damn it, the contract says for X-amount of days and that's what we're gonna do, can't risk it!" (the irony being these temporary lights are under the permanent light poles that could be used instead)

Australia update: Melbourne, Victoria.

Despite the lockdwowns, curfews, restrictions, and social interaction limits, here in Victoria, the number of positive cases (Delta variant), continue to climb daily.

The past 24 hours, another 1,890, from 74,000 tests. Sadly there are another 5 deaths.

The state public health narrative remains in place. The 2nd dose vaccination target of 80% for the Victoria state population (approx 6 million), remains the key to our freedoms. Well, most of them. And at the current 57%, the expected target to be reached by the end of this month, October 2021, is lagging.

It's just not adding up for many. Who realise that health directions are based around a 'true' pandemic, the likes of ebola, black plague, smallpox ... and in no way can be compared to the Spanish flu outbreak that followed WW1. Some are starting to ask, 'what happened to the yearly flu the past two years?'.

Our leaders act upon the health directives.
Both are out of date.

I've been asking that question for a year and I've never gotten an answer.

COVID is the boogie man. COVID = COVID. The plain old flu = COVID. The common cold = COVID. Death by MVA = COVID. Dying of old age = COVID.

Iceland Stops Using Moderna Vaccine Over Heart Inflammation Risk

https://www.theepochtimes.com/...m_campaign=ZeroHedge

Iceland on Oct. 8 halted the use of the Moderna vaccine against the CCP virus due to reports from Nordic countries of “increased incidence” of inflammation of heart muscle and tissues triggered by the injection.

Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Norway have already limited the use of the Moderna vaccine over the same concerns. Iceland went further than its neighbors and stopped using the vaccine entirely.

“In recent days, there has been data from the Nordic countries on the increased incidence of myocarditis and pericarditis after vaccination with Moderna vaccine in addition to vaccination with Pfizer/BioNTech (Comirnaty),” an announcement from Iceland’s Directorate of Health stated.

“As there is a sufficient supply of Pfizer vaccine in Iceland for both the pre-vaccine activation vaccines and the primary vaccinations of those who have not yet been vaccinated, the epidemiologist has decided not to use the Moderna vaccine in Iceland, while providing further information on the safety of the Moderna vaccine.”

Sweden limited the use of the Moderna shot on Oct. 6 to those born before 1991. The Swedish health agency said at the time that new data from Swedish and other Nordic sources “indicate that the connection is especially clear” between Moderna’s vaccine and side effects “especially after the second dose.”

“Both myocarditis and pericarditis often go away on their own, without causing any lasting problems, but suspicious symptoms should be assessed by a doctor at … a health center or emergency room,” the agency stated, noting that “medical treatment and monitoring in hospital may be needed in established cases.”

Norway and Denmark have recommended the Pfizer vaccine for children aged 12-17. In Iceland, only the Pfizer vaccine has been recommended for the 12-17 age group.

Finland on Oct. 7 discontinued the use of the Moderna shot for men under the age of 30. That decision came one day after Sweden and Denmark halted the use of the vaccine for the younger age groups.

Iceland had been using the Moderna vaccine almost exclusively as a booster shot for those who received the Johnson&Johnson vaccine, according to the Health Directorate. The Nordic nation had also been using the Moderna vaccine as a booster for two-dose vaccinations of the elderly and immunocompromised.

According to the World Health Organization, more than 75 percent of Iceland’s population has been fully vaccinated against the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, commonly known as the novel coronavirus, which causes COVID-19. A total of 33 people died from COVID-19 in Iceland since the start of the pandemic.

I still want to know where all these tests are coming from (in any country or state).

74,000 a day for a year is more than the entire population of Australia.
