There's some sarcasm contained within those quotes. That's the source of confusion between you two guys.

I'm not bent by this. Why do any of us participate and share different points of view? I refrain usually, as I realize I'm in the minority. Today I saw a comment that seemed unreasonable to me, so I commented.

If you're referring to my part of the exchange below, I believe both yourself and Zsmichael are interpreting things in my post that are not there. For such a short statement, I'm amazed by how much people are trying to read into it, again, if it's me you're referring to. I said what I said, and it means exactly what I meant it to.

Are people with cancer or diabetes mentally weak? The Covid situation is creating a LARGER mental health crisis in this country. Is PTSD in veterans a weakness too??

Are all people who choose to wear a mask terrified and losing their shit? Or perhaps some are just cautious? Perhaps misinformed and cautious. . perhaps brainwashed, like me.

Is there any middle ground between 'fuck it I'm not wearing a mask', and 'terrified'?

Did you wear a mask when Swine Flu ravaged itself through this country infecting 60,800,000 people? Why or why not?

Because the media didn't tell me to. Happy?

I'd venture there are a lot of people who are wearing them because the media told them to, and I'd venture much more wear them because of social pressure, people are more interested in not being ostracised by others and being seen as enlightened and engaged, probably greater reason than much as the health benefits of a mask. Especially when you consider that the majority of the masks used are ineffective.

If you don't wear it, you don't give a shit about the health of others, yourself, your family. IE you're a selfish, self-centered, uneducated ass. So the inference goes both ways, whichever you choose.

Yep, that is the exact narrative that the media, the leftist politicians and the Karens are pushing. It's all about conforming to what the politically correct social justice crowd think is best for you and me. In other words...."control and power"

Oh believe me. The idiocy reaches far beyond the walls of SIGforum. We have people in our Fakebook pilot group that are just as sold on the fact that face masks will SAVE US ALL! I just shake my head and keep posting facts of past Pandemics we survived just fine without media hysteria intervention.

I don't live in FEAR and I'm not about to let anyone DICTATE when I should live in FEAR.

PEACE TO YUHS!!!

I just returned from grocery shopping. I'd bet that 20-30% don't even wear the mask correctly from what I witnessed. They wear them over their upper lip, if that. They lick their fingers to open the plastic bags and stick the green twist ties in their mouths. They're not wearing gloves and they don't wipe the cart handle down before shopping. The store seems to have discontinued in having someone spraying the carts, but the spray is there for customers to use as well as the antiseptic wipes. I see few people making the effort for themselves. I saw only two people still wearing gloves which I did initially.

As the temperatures go up (85 degrees here in northern AZ and 104 degrees today in the valley of the damned-Phoenix), the masks will come down. They're going to love the half pasty white, half sun tanned look.

I can't imagine breathing my own breath behind a mask for hours being anymore healthy than the air on a crowded airliner.

Wear a mask, don't wear a mask, I don't give a rat's ass. I won't criticize your choice and would appreciate it if you don't criticize mine. I haven't worn a mask since this crap began and have gone out 1-2x a week. I'll continue to practice 'social distancing' as I have since I retired (I dislike crowds). I wash my hands so much they're raw and cracked. Now that I've found sanitizer, the sting is a reminder of how much pain I can tolerate.

This is the latest from the CDC. I'd suggest checking it regularly...

You can search specifically for information on masks. At the bottom of this link there are some recent studies.

All I want to say is (and due to asthma, 30 pounds more weight than I need, pre-diabetic, arthritis, etc. otherwise at risk and I'm not that old) I'm ready for this to end. We're doing stuff to prevent the spread (if we have it), not protect ourselves from others, while I dutifully wear my mask and see people driving like idjits or having adorable kids in their cars sitting on the consoles and no car seat to be seen. Zinc, Z-pac and quinine compounds could take care me...a two year old child doing a face plant into a windshield is more tragic.

I'm going to have a beer, and if the ice cream truck rolls through the neighborhood I'll chase after it.

If people want to wear a mask...cool. If they don’t...equally cool. I have not been wearing one myself, until today. I had a doctor appointment this morning, and upon entering the building, screeners took my temperature and handed me one and said I had to wear it at all times while in the building. And I found a mask is just damned uncomfortable...

For a group (i.e. Progressives) who claim not to wanna meddle in what people do in their own bedrooms, this little tidbit kinda blows that all away. If you think government dictating you have to where a mask is a bit shall we say, inappropriate, try on these 'suggestions'. NYC Releases Strange New 'Sex Guidelines'

A little excerpt, from the 'professionals'.... Roll Eyes

Make it a little kinky. Be creative with sexual positions and physical barriers, like walls, that allow sexual contact while preventing close face to face contact.

I think we should be careful before expanding on this lest we incur the wrath of he who owns the place. I simply listed that tidbit as evidence of the insanity on the Left.
