The "mask nazis" are starting to lose it. I was at one of our local supermarkets yesterday and noticed that maybe half were wearing masks, half were not. I do not wear a mask. While waiting in line to check out I was visiting with a guy behind me who also was not wearing one. I soon heard a middle aged lady behind him scolding anyone who was not wearing a mask. This guy turned around and told her (quite loudly) that no one cares what she thinks and she should shut up. She just got madder. It's getting crazy out there. .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.

May 4th can't come soon enough. Unfortunately, we still have our little dictator, Sam Page, in St. Louis County. CLAYTON — The St. Louis County Council on Tuesday voted 4-3 to let County Executive Sam Page’s administration spend $173.5 million in federal coronavirus relief funds without further council approval, a measure that caused a deep rift in county government during a time of crisis. The vote was along party lines, with four Democratic councilwomen in favor and three Republican councilmen opposed. Almost exactly one year after a federal pay-to-pay case against the former county executive highlighted the value of strong checks and balances in county government, the council’s surrender of its legislative oversight of a massive fund stirred up feelings of concern and distrust in many people across the region. “It’s extraordinarily perplexing,” Chesterfield Mayor Bob Nation said after the meeting. “It’s just not right. I don’t like to be partisan, because I serve in a nonpartisan capacity, but I commend the Republicans for fighting the good fight and trying to do what’s right.” The Republicans insisted the council had no reason to give the executive branch power to spend every dollar from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act grant with one vote, saying it was a derogation of their oath to uphold the county charter. Several speakers who submitted comments to be read Tuesday at the council’s regular video conference meeting said they agreed. In a joint statement read at the meeting, the mayors from 23 municipalities in north St. Louis County — almost all of them Democrats — said legislative oversight was “a fundamental requirement of government.” https://www.stltoday.com/news/...55-123d4451a2cb.html "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

Yes, but if you read the linked article they removed an event. That event most certainly has a lot to do with the first amendment.

May 4th is our supposed day of release from house arrest as well. But our Governor Walz pretty much telegraphed in his last press conference it's most likely going to be extended by two if not three weeks. He's being very careful about applying pressure. He knows what will tip the scales for serious push back. He's been watching Witless over in Michigan. He won't close opening fishing or ban power boats he knows what that will lead to in this state. I am on some fishing forums and many local Minnesotans are on them. When this first started they were all preaching how serious this is and if you don't follow the .govs orders you are just part of the problem and you better hope you don't shop in the store I and my family go to and I see you without a mask! Then when it got to mid to late April and the prospect of fishing opener being closed was heavily rumored they all sang a different tune. I stopped posting in that forum on the Covid related stuff. It's for entertainment purposes only. I stop by now and again just to see how shallow the pool can be drained. "Fixed fortifications are monuments to mans stupidity" - George S. Patton

I have now read the linked article; still no violation (or even close). I didn't need to read it originally, because the First Amendment doesn't apply to private entities such as Facebook. Here is the actual text of the First Amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." This is what laypersons understandably tend to miss about the First Amendment: that the amendment is a statement prohibiting CONGRESS (the government) from interfering with your right to free speech or to assemble, etc. If you to assemble at my house and I stop you, I do not violate your first amendment right to assemble. If you try to make me post a banner on my house advertising your event and I refuse to let you do so, it is not a violation of your First Amenndment rights. If I remove a poster that you put on my house advertising your event, it is not a violation of your free speech rights or right to assemble. All are just different examples to make the point that the First Amendment restricts only the government, not private citizens or companies, even if they somehow would impact your ability to advertise your event. So Facebook can take down notices, refuse to run them, remove speech that they deem unworthy, or unlawful, or simply ban all "events" forever. That is their right, and the Constitution is not implicated. The response is that the consumer can take their business elsewhere if they disagree with that approach. And keep in mind, the event can still happen; it just wouldn't be "advertised" on Facebook or seen as a "Facebook-sanctioned" event.

Meanwhile, just up the road (local news reports this morning indicate they and others will face a $1,000 fine for any violations, extended time closed down and may have their power turned off (!!!) : MADISON, Miss. (WLBT) - A barber shop in the City of Madison has been given a notice by the city. According to police, they received numerous complains from citizens alleging that the Family Barber Shop was serving customers. This would be in violation of Gov. Tate Reeves’ executive order banning all hair salons from conducting business. Because of this, the owner of the Family Barber Shop was served a written notice by the City of Madison that such allegations had been made and that further violations could result in penalties. No official charges have been lodged against the owner of this business at this time. Link You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02

Dewine in Ohio originally set policy that in businesses that are starting to re-open that employees AND customers would have to wear masks. He got enough push back from the citizenry that while still strongly recommending masks for customers they are NOT required. Good on ya guvna. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate.
Unfortunately, I think we are clearly approaching the point where we can't avoid another civil war in the foreseeable future
I am actually surprised there have not been incidents of real push back, in a more violent sense, by Patriots against the more stupid actions of certain commies states. For example, paraphrasing, Newsome stated if the people did not get off the beaches, he would extend the stay at home diktat. How far are we away from direct action by Patriots? How far will the commies go to test the will of the people? I suggest the commies have already gone too far and the people of this great nation are accepting of far too much. ____________________________ "Fear is a Reaction - Courage is a Decision.” - Winston Spencer Churchill NRA Life Member - Adorable Deplorable Garbage

The thing that pisses me off the most about this comment is where does he think he has the authority to do such a thing? What a complete delusion of grandeur. He thinks all he has to do is say "saving lives" and he's God? Ok tough guy. It makes me sick. It makes me sick that he's right--all he has to do is say those magic words and the lemmings get right in lockstep. Year V

I'll see your mask nazi and raise you a cell phone nazi. I get my prescription meds at the pharmacy section of the local Publix supermarket. Last week, maybe 10% or 15% of the people in the store were wearing masks. I was at the counter, showing my ID, to pick up my prescription meds. Some schmuck behind me was violating my space (much closer than the six feet that was advised on big signs all over the store) and screaming at me about wearing a mask. I turned around, told him to step away from me and mind his own fucking business. There is a prominent sign at the pharmacy pickup counter that says "No Cell Phones." Now, I carry an iPhone but do not use it for voice calls (because hearing impaired) but I do use it for written communication, text, email, etc., and for many useful apps. Publix has something sort of similar to Apple Pay. Actually, it's more like Walmart Pay -- the terminal shows a QR code, you open the app (Publix app or Walmart app, as applicable), and let your phone's camera see the QR code, and payment is automatically made via the credit card that you have previously linked to the app. I like this method, not only for security, but additionally, in this Time Of Virus there is no physical contact with a terminal. Well, I whipped out my iPhone, I had already opened the app while I was waiting in line (six feet away from the closest person), so it took all of three or four seconds to let the phone see the QR code on the terminal. This really set schmuck off. Referring to the "No Cell Phones" sign, he started shouting at me about the phone, and then segued into masks again. Schmuck was a guy maybe ten or fifteen years younger than I am (I am 83), and a bit taller (I am 6'3") and had probably twenty or thirty pounds on me. I looked him in the eye, told him that if he did not shut the fuck up and get at least six feet from me I would commence to whack him repeatedly with my cane. He backed off, did not shut up, but lowered his volume to a moderately loud mutter instead of a scream. I walked away with my prescription, a couple of customers, one of whom was wearing a mask while others were not, commented to me that it was a shame that people like schmuck could not mind their own business. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

I just found out that this girl I knew from high school and a FB friend now had switched her party registration from Democrat to Republican. I actually lived with her and other roommates back in 2003-2004 and she was pretty hardcore Democrat then and I'm sure that hasn't changed. We really got into it about George Bush as that was right around his reelection. She's a Realtor here in PA and has basically been dead in the water since about March 19 due to our idiotic Dictator of a Governor, Tom Wolf shutting down virtually the entire state and thus far refusing to allow realtors to go back to work. I know she's got to be bleeding money and cannot go on indefinitely like this, lives in a $450,000 dollar home and I'm sure she's shitting a big brick right now. She and millions of others are really getting pissed at this clueless guy and how he's effectively killed the Pennsylvania economy. Did you know the State of PA had to procure two new vehicles for something and HAD TO GO TO OHIO to buy them because Governor Numbnuts shut down ALL CAR SALES, even online? I can see this scenario playing out across the county, how about you? Tom Wolf's plan seems to be to crash the state's economy and get a big bailout from the feds for his shitty extreme tax and spend policies (he taxed our trash, internet service and phone service and raised our income tax right after taking office) AND cause Trump to lose PA which is a crucial battleground state for him and one that helped put him over the top in 2016. I actually now think PA will go Trump EVEN BIGGER than 2016, Numbnuts Tom Wolf is handing him this state on a silver platter. I told Lisa "I know you're not a Trump fan but I do believe that he is going to come down hard very soon on these wannabe despots like Wolf" to which she replied "Yeah, not a fan...yet...but let me see what he does" which tells me she is going to vote for Trump this time around! This is HUGE.
