Not in my backyard? Aren't these the same people who want open borders and sanctuary cities? "Some things are apparent. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. Global distribution of healthcare supplies isn't a supply-on-demand situation. There's a 8 to 10 month backlog of supplies in transit at any given time so your projection as far as horizon shortage is way off. You're also not taking into consideration the impact of the disease as a function of working age, co-morbidities, etc. and if it dramatically spreads here in the U.S., I doubt it will be worse than the annual Flu based on the scientific and epidemiology data.

My wife is an eye doctor so she is face to face with a couple dozen people a day. During flu season she will wear a surgical mask and sometimes asks the patient to wear one if they admit to having a cold or the flu. I only order masks every 6 months or so, today I tried to order some. I couldn't get them in my cart and check out before they were "out of stock". Plus prices for the masks were close to what they have always been but shipping fees were anywhere from $150 to $400 for about half a pound of freight. I hope they all rot in hell. The craziness is well under way.

Was in HD today. People were looking for N95 masks. They had none. They always have them. Decided to check Amazon. Nothing. Filter for my 3M respirator are also sold out. Don't need them myself as I have a few but people are going nuts. _____________________________________ Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. As I’ve opined before, a “panic buyer” is the one who bought the last of what I wanted just before I tried to buy it. Or as a paraphrase of the old, “I am firm, you are stubborn, he is a pig-headed fool,” in these situations it’s, “I am prudent, you are fearful, he is panicking.” ► 6.4/93.6 “Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something.” — Plato

Not near as I can tell. Not yet. My wife and I went out to lay in extra supplies, just in case. Major groceries, etc. store. Traffic seemed pretty much normal. I eyeballed the carts of others. My wife's cart and mine were the only ones I saw that were indicative of "stocking up." I'm not surprised by the masks thing. Consider the average home probably has (had?) none of them, of any type, in stock. I've a mostly-full box of 3M N95 dust masks out in the garage because I use them regularly. We've an unopened pack of surgical masks down in the pantry, purchased last year when the first SARS outbreak looked like it could become an issue. I purchased a three-pack of reusable, washable cloth masks from Amazon a month ago. Hopefully that'll suffice. "America is at that awkward stage. Got one similar to that, too. And, I think, a spare set of filters. "America is at that awkward stage. We mailed some to my son in the San Francisco area since he couldn't find them there... I tried to buy one of these, but Currently unavailable: Cambridge Mask Co Pro Anti Pollution N99 Washable https://www.amazon.com/gp/prod...ativeASIN=B071178VDW "Some things are apparent. Right. It will drop elsewhere... However, it's not the common flu. It's actually ~3.4%, (based on Johns Hopkins CSSE) which is 68x the flu. [2,770 (deaths) /81,322 (confirmed infected) * 100 ] = (0.034062 * 100) = 3.4% https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis...40299423467b48e9ecf6 "Some things are apparent. The N95 masks will filter out particles 3 microns and larger.......the estimate of the corona virus is between 1 to 2 microns .... so, there’s that ________________________ Those who trade liberty for security have neither

Yes, but the virus largely vectors on particulate matter much larger than 3 microns. So it will work, if you follow the entire protocol (good seal, not touching under the mask, timely replacement, etc.).

Glad to see Trump attempting to get out in front of this . Read an article today that had Harvard med epidemiologist thinking that the U.S. will see and infection rate greater than 40%.
