back in the time of no reservations he had made a few comments on his demons with drugs, depression, and alcohol. I remember thinking at the time he would commit suicide. I was expecting it to be within a short 3-4 months time frame. I am surprised he lived this long. I am betting that this factor along with his anti trump statements that seemed to have cost him work, business IIRC at his restaurant lead up to the depression being peaked enough to get his one last gasp at fame. Edit, I will add that as a leftist pinko commie I disliked his politics. It was one of the reasons i stopped watching his show after 5 years or so. However, I did enjoy his work for the most part and wished him no ill will. I stopped watching about the same time I decided not to cut back on what i watched and read from pinko's. He just happened to be on the list. I cought a few shows over the years since then, and he really seemed worn out, dragging himself through the gag or gig for the payout. It was much less entertaining.

Like many, I saw the news last night and thought "yep, makes sense." He was so engaging but he always seemed sort of "sad clown" to me. I've never experienced depression and find myself being cynical about it. What could make a person kill himself and leave behind an 11 year old daughter to sort that out? That person is either mentally ill or the most selfish person in the world. I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

By chance, I sat next to him and across from the other chef Eric on a flight from LAX to CVG. Bourdain was actually pretty funny and entertaining. The Eric guy was nice but pretty quiet. Politics aside I am sorry for his passing.

Wait, what? |
Call me crass, but perhaps moral bankruptcy carries a steep price. Even if he wasn’t a completely rabid leftist (I honestly wouldn’t know) but perhaps throwing in with those types of ideologues had an adverse affect on his psyche. I couldn’t care less about him. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

women dug his snuff and his gallant stroll |
I enjoyed his No Reservations series. I saw one episode of Parts Unknown and it didn’t really do much for me. I wonder if his hanging death is a case of auto erotic asphyxiation gone wrong?

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
I guess I lead a sheltered life, and don't watch CNN much these days since they've gone hard left. I didn't know he was a chef, just saw a few snippets of him and it was always something political mentioned and some travel. These self absorbed celebrities seem to get upset when they start to realize they aren't really the center of the universe, at least of normal people, and maybe question a few of their beliefs. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Bourdain has certainly had no reservations about bashing the POTUS. One less leftist progressive turd.

CNN host Anthony Bourdain joked in an interview with TMZ that he would poison President Trump if given the opportunity to cook for him I couldn't stand his arrogance He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.

Yes, and I suspect that the downward turn for Democrats, coupled with President Trump's successes and the possibility of nine metric tons of shit about to hit the fan for Hillary et al didn't help matters for the guy. Just a feeling, is all, because he really hated Donald Trump and, like all leftists, he thought that leftists own our government. ____________________________________________________ "I am your retribution." - Donald Trump, speech at CPAC, March 4, 2023

Just conjecture...he supported the MeToo movement, but I wonder if someone was getting ready to out him for sexual harassment? I watched his shows and enjoyed it for the food aspect, but the liberal BS was getting harder to stomach. I am sorry for his daughter and the family he left behind. He must have been battling some serious demons to commit suicide. _________________________________________________________________________ “A man’s treatment of a dog is no indication of the man’s nature, but his treatment of a cat is. Go ahead punk, make my day |
Thought popped into my head as well. I agree with the Bossman that the last 2 years has been a painful event for the Leftists out there. Certainly a large contributing factor, as everything is emotional for them, since reason and logic are out.

My wife and I had recently gotten back into his "Parts Unknown" series on Netflix. Somewhat ironically we were watching his show the afternoon my half-Korean best friend died a few months ago. The show was on Korea and also talked about Korean heritage and my friends surname was mentioned. His mom was Korean and his dad German. His last name was Hahn (German) but I found it kind of crazy they were talking about Han in Korea as an oppressive cultural force that all Koreans struggle with. I didn't explain that very well but my friend literally passed away within about two hours of when we were watching that and the coincidence was uncanny. I did not like his politics and frankly felt he often interjected his quips in pointlessly. He was best just talking with the locals he tried to bring attention to. I felt like he respected the people that welcomed him into his homes, regardless if they particularly cared for him or some of his antics. He definitely came across as a complex person with a lot going on inside. I imagine a lot of that heavy drinking harbored some secrets.

I don’t get the hangings Maybe it’s because I’m not suicidal But with the money people like Bourdain, Kate Spade or Robin Williams had, you’d think you could afford enough heroin or something to shuffle off this mortal coil in complete oblivion Hanging is not high on my list of ways to go —————————————————— If the meek will inherit the earth, what will happen to us tigers?

Good grief. Take a look at CNN's website. The entire top half of the page is a black banner. You'd think a head of state died. Damn. Get a grip.

My wife and I never watched his show. We thought he came across as an uppity jackass

It's not you, it's me. |
I imagine that at the point you become suicidal, pleasure isn't a factor anymore...or else you would continue to do things to make you feel good, i.e. a buncha heroin or endless high end prostitutes, or a simple kiss for the wife.

Chip away the stone |
One thing I can't wrap my head around is how people who seem to be quite successful in their careers, people who have lots of drive of some sort, can completely give up. I know/knew a couple of folks, one who attempted suicide, and one who was successful at it, and they both had more drive than I do and were much more outgoing and engaging. I guess sometimes the adage about the candle that burns the brightest is true.

I was thinking the same thing after Kate Spade. It seems like there has been an increase. Suicide rates on rise in US, CDC reports http://www.foxnews.com/health/...-us-cdc-reports.html "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor
