My special day in recent times is May 4th 2023. I had lost my job a week before, a hiring manager reached out to me for an interview that same day and hired me on the spot. I guess "The Fourth(Force)" was with me that day. Big Grin

Thanks for the generous Karma! Cool

Hi Monkey!!!

Now that I've moved out of CA, I can actually join one of your Karmas!!!

First off, you have been very generous over the years to members of our Forum. For that and your thoughtful posts, Thank You!!!

My most recent "Special Day" just happened a couple weeks ago when I moved out of CA. I was born and raised in CA, my entire life I lived within the same five-mile radius.

Over the years, I have been politically active against politicians who pushed laws that chipped away at our rights. The thought of giving up and retreating because of them was never a consideration. Fighting back and backing better candidates was the option I choose instead.

My employer offered me an opportunity in North Carolina, seeing this move to be a substantial improvement in many ways ~ I accepted.

Life in Charlotte has been wonderful. The people and the landscape have all been rather positive and while I was happy in San Diego ~ I am just as happy in my new digs and in some ways, happier!!!

Lots of great moments shared here.....I'll mention two.

Like so many others, the day I married the woman who exceeds anything I thought I could be lucky enough to call mine (October 5, 2024). I'm still pinching myself.

&

August 25, 1994...I was 17 years old and completed my first 3 solo takeoffs and landings in a well worn Cessna 150. I had spent countless hours of my childhood dreaming of that day.

The day I had my Heart Bypass of 5.After I woke up the DR. could not believe how I had all my color and looked great. The next day I walked with a nurse down the hall. My Doctor saw me and shook his head. I think he was as proud as I was. 7 years ago. Still plugging along.

Thank you for this generous opportunity.

Memorial Day the last few years has been special. My birthday always falls on or close to that day. I know I don’t have many more so another one is an accomplishment and special.

My special day was getting out of the hospital following a near-fatal septicemia!

Thanks again for yet again an amazing karma.

My most recent "special" day was 3-13-2025, when I left my prior company. I'm now considering what I want to do when I grow up.

Thanks for the opportunity, and thanks for the topic of this Karma. I've enjoyed reading about what has made peoples' days special.

I also have had several very special days. The recent one that stands out is June 2, 2020. That is the day my little Maddie Bug arrived, and I became an Ampaw.

Very interesting Karma

March 22nd 2014....
Captain America: The Winter Soldier was set to premier in the United States on April 4th

Harley Davidson was premiering a NEW motorcycle in the Movie

Motorcycle & Powersports News (MPN) sent myself and my co-worker to interview Stan Lee at Megacon about the interaction.

Stan Lee's autograph line had hundreds of fans queued up when we arrived and even though the Editor had pre-arranged the interview, I had my doubts we were going to get anything accomplished

I introduced us to his manager and explain why we were there. The manager took us over to a curtained off area roughly 10 by 20 feet and asked us to wait for a moment. Within minutes the manager returned with Stan Lee and left the three of us alone in this little area.

Joel and I spent 17 minutes with Stan Lee. Covered the questions necessary for the interview and spent a little time just kind of chewing the fat with him

Stan passed away 4 years later, but Joel and I still talk about that special day when we had private time with a Legend

I have had so many special days, it is really hard to pick just one. I am very blessed from that perspective. I think I will go with my birthday in 1996. My birthday is in the summer, and it was a weekday. I remember after school, I had a boy scout meeting at a local lake. Going there and being with all of my friends, and then getting out on the lake and canoeing with them in the beautiful weather was very special and I remember having a ton of fun. Afterwards when I went home I remember getting a multitool from my parents as a birthday gift. I had wanted one so badly and I was so happy to receive it. When the day ended I remember going to bed with a huge smile, I felt very fulfilled and content, looking back on the day with friends and family. It was basically all I had wanted, and I got exactly that.

Without a doubt July 6, 1991 when I married my wife. I hit the jackpot and still don't understand why she said yes.

Like others here have stated, it's been fun seeing the replies and especially how great it is to see how blessed some guys are to still be here.

Thanks for the opportunity at this generous karma.

One of the most recent "Special Days" is when I brought my Ahyoka Star home. December 18th 2020.

My Special girl, Sunny Day crossed the Rainbow bridge October 5th, 2020. It crushed me. I was always attached to her, loved her very much, but I truly didn't know how much until she passed. It broke my heart. I have had aussies, aussies/mixes all my life and loved all of them. But Sunny Day was different. I knew she was Special, but I don't know or realize how much she truly meant. After she was gone I was in a very bad place. I said never again. But then I felt that I needed another one. I looked and looked, and found Ahyoka Thanksgiving night. Left a email and the next day was told that she was already claimed, and she was the last ( which didn't matter as I knew she was THE ONE, ).

That night, a Friday, I had a football field trip and it was rain delayed 5 times. I didn't get home until 3am ( 2 hour drive) I was sitting on the couch, thinking about not being able to have the pup that I knew was the one, watching a Christmas movie, sipping on my 2nd Bourbon and I said what the hell, and sent that breeder another email, that said. I understand that she is already taken, and there is no more of the litter, but for any reason, other then health problems, if they back out, please keep me in mind because I Know that she is the one. I left my contact info, finished the movie and Bourbon and went to bed.

I was heart broken again. Then that Saturday ( next morning) my cousin called me and asked how I was doing and I told her what happened. I'm not to proud to say I was in tears. Then. I get a notification on my phone of a email. It was the breeder. She sent me a message saying that the people backed out and that Ahyoka was Is available! I told my cousin I'll call her back, and called the number the breeder left. I talked to her and got the information and address and called my cousin to tell her what happened! I, was happy for the first time since Sunny Day past. My cousin wanted to come along, I picked her up and took the almost 3 hours drive to look at her, she was more beautiful in person than her pictures. She came right to me and wouldn't leave me, even with the breeder, her mom, and my cousin there. She was mine! I told The breeder that she was going home with me and gave her the deposit, as she wasn't ready yet.

The breeder asked if I had a name yet and I told her no. On the was home, that was all my cousin and I talked about. I thought of names, and when I saw Ahyoka, I knew that was it! Ahyoka is Cherokee, and the meaning is " She brings happiness/ bringer of happiness " and just like that, the pup that was meant to be, had the name that was perfect for her.

Waiting for the day to pick her up was murder! It was a Friday and a half day at work. I got off, picked up a friend and off we went! Just under 3 hours we were there! That's when the new Adventures began!

So, there have been other special days, that day, December 18th 2020 was one that took me out of a dark place.

Silly, I know. But it's special to me.

Thanks for the awesome Karma!

Thanks for the generous Karma!

A special day in my life was June 28, 1993. My parents and my brothers packed up everything we owned and flew from Cleveland to Prague, Czech Republic. It was my first time on a plane, or being out of the country. I was 8, my middle brother was 5, and the youngest was 2. My parents were trying to keep track of everything and us, and my youngest brother fell down an escalator at Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris during one of our layovers. Thankfully he didn't get hurt too bad.

I remember getting off the plane in the old Prague airport where we had to walk to the terminal, this boring old communist looking structure. My dad's boss, who lived in Germany, met us and took us into town to buy a few essentials like toilet paper and stuff. Then we went to the Charles Bridge where he tried to film a short interview with my parents, meanwhile the three of us boys were hanging over the edge and mom was freaking out that we were going to fall. Then dad's boss drove us to our apartment in this communist-era "panelak" complex, dropped us off, and went back to Germany.

That was the beginning of the next nine years of my life (21 for my parents) living in Prague. It all started that day when they left us in a basically empty apartment (the few things that we'd shipped didn't get there for at least another month) in a country where we didn't speak the language, didn't have a car, and only knew a handful of people. It was sink or swim, and we figured it out. Day two dad and I learned the bus and metro and went into town. Looking back, my parents had some serious guts to move us over there the way they did, but it was definitely an adventure and I'll be forever grateful for the opportunity I had to grow up there.
